     Pre-Release

The movie will have Billie Eilish's song bad guy be in the movie trailer or soundtrack.
It sounds fitting and pretty funny.
  • Confirmed.

Professor Marmalade will not be an alien like the books.
Probably because his real name works in a pure text format, but not in spoken dialogue.
  • Confirmed

Professor Marmalade will manipulate Mr. Wolf into leaving his friends.
  • Confirmed

Marmalade uses the bad guys' help for some sort of evil plan.
In the trailer, it shows Marmalade bringing the gang to Sunnyside Laboratories to save guinea pigs from being tested on, but then in a later scene, the guinea pigs are running around the streets with glowing eyes. So maybe Marmalade is still some mad genius who manipulates cute animals like in the books? (likely without the whole being an alien thing.)
  • Confirmed

Mr. Snake will have an Adaptational Heroism or an Adaptational Nice Guy in the movie.
Uhhhhhh sorta. He's mostly the same, but becomes much more committed to turning good!

Mr. Wolf and Diane Foxington will become an Official Couple.
Given how they had scenes together in the trailer, perhaps Diane could become a Morality Pet for Mr. Wolf, who will encourage him more and more to not give up becoming good (even when the others aren't convinced). During this, the two could begin to develop feelings for each other and (if the franchise is good enough) continue to blossom their relationship into a romantic one.
  • Confirmed!

The Bad Guys will become the next How to Train Your Dragon franchise.
If this movie does a good enough job, then it could spawn sequel movies and maybe even a tv show!

The movie will help the book series continue.
Besides becoming a franchise and getting more movies and maybe show, this movie being successful could also make the original book series more popular and will make fans want more books!

(in the books) Snake will betray the Underlords, and Piranha is part of his plan to do so.
This is two guesses in one, so let's handle them one at a time.
1. Snake has been showing hesitation about being an Underlord practically from the beginning. He even declined to do so at first, until he was told his friends would be able to join him. Add the conversation he and Wolf (remember: his closest friend) have in book 13, where Wolf tells Snake he won't go with him, along with his prior development into a proper hero. It stands to reason he'll fight back, provided he can do so.
2. Now consider the events of the most recent book, 14. In it, Snake kidnaps Piranha and takes him to a remote part of the world. This is for two reasons: to lead some of the others away from the tower (which works) and to figure out Piranha's powers (no luck there yet). When Shark, Kitty Kat, and Hogwild show up, what happens? Does Snake turn them again... or does he announce his intent to stop the Underlords and get their help?

Marmalade's plan will go through Adaptation Displacement
While it would be likely the movie would drop the angle of him being an alien, Marmalade's ultimate end goal and reasoning will the same as the book: World domination just to prove they aren't cute. Specifically, Marmalade in the movie is lashing out against the world for himself and his species, guinea pigs, for being perceived as cute and harmless and wants to prove that they can be as much of a threat as more traditionally dangerous animals, if not more so.

To add another wrinkle, Marmalade will try to emotionally manipulate Mr. Wolf into abandoning his friends, possibly even building up a legitimate emotional bond, because Marmalade idolizes wolves in general and wants Mr. Wolf specifically to join him. This is because no matter what kind of morality wolves are perceived as, whether they are good, bad, or anywhere in between, they are commonly seen as badass, an ideal Marmalade wishes to elevate guinea pigs into, and he is an actual fanboy of Mr. Wolf and his, believing him to be the epitome of a badass wolf.

Who might be the possible Big Bad of the film
With the Bad Guys as the main characters, there can be some possibilities of who might be the Big Bad of the film.
  • Professor Marmalade seems like a good candidate. He could be using the Bad Guys for a more sinister goal than he seems to show. If it's anything like the books. Professor Mar. could no doubt be a Big Bad in hamster's clothing.
    • Confirmed

Chief Luggins will be taking a level in kindness
Despite her hatred toward The Bad Guys, once she realizes who Professor Marmalade is, she will help the criminals by stopping him.
  • Jossed.

We could learn what The Bad Guys' childhoods were like
There has to be a reason why they became crooks, so maybe we'll learn what their childhood was like!
  • For Mr. Wolf he could be similar to Nick Wilde from Zootopia if you have ever seen that movie, Mr. Wolf was probably bullied, muzzled, picked on, hurt, beaten up, or feared, loathed, shunned, and hated just because he is a wolf. From being emotional to being physically hurt. We might even see a flashback in the movie where we see some of those things if not all of them happen to him. If anyone were to get a backstory of why they became The Bad Guys, it’s probably going to be Mr. Wolf.
  • For Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr. Piranha, and Ms. Tarantula, theirs might be similar to Maddie and the other animals from the Back to the Outback movie on Netflix, what with them being seen as deadly or ugly animals, them getting their feelings hurt and being stereotyped might have caused them to decide to be the Bad Guys.
    • Unfortunately jossed.

     Post-Release

The movie will eventually get a tv series on Hulu, Peacock and or Netflix.
  • Come on, this is Dreamworks. Of course, there’s gonna be a tv show, they’ve been doing this for a while.
  • If so, it’ll take place after the movie and using stories from the books!
Now that the Bad Guys' old hideout has been cleaned out, where will they live?
  • The Bad Guys will probably remain in their hideout.
  • Diane will offer them an apartment to live in.
  • Or, Marmalade's old mansion will be rebuilt and it will become the Bad Guys' new home.
In a Bad Guys tv show, Chief Luggins will be the main villain of the first season.
  • For anyone out there who can't stand how cops in media are always arrogant barfbags who get away with their behavior just because of their badges, having Luggins be the Big Bad of a Bad Guys tv show season would be a fantastic opportunity to see a police officer get what's coming to them. Knowing her, there is no way the Chief is ever going to accept that the Bad Guys are now redeemed. She's going to want to put them back in prison! This has the potential for a season storyline about the Bad Guys struggling at first to be Good Guys, especially with a hot-headed old enemy who's so rigid that she won't ever let go of the past or accept that they've changed. At the end of this storyline (the Season 1 finale) it will be satisfying to not only see Luggins defeated but also terminated from the police by a possible police commissioner character (as a commissioner is the one rank that has power above the chief) and when she tried to outright attack the heroes, a character MUST kick her hard in the crotch! Who that character could be is many possibilities (Could be the foretold Commissioner, Diane, Wolf, Shark, Piranha, etc)!
    • Sorta confirmed! Chief Luggins is a Hero Antagonist, but not the main villain. And, well, nothing goes right for her in the Mascarino Ruby short.
Fluffy Venom will become a canon pairing
  • After looking back at the moment when they were falling towards the Love Crater, Wolf will realize that he loves Snake more than Diane.
  • We might even see Wolf and Snake have their first kiss.
All of the gang grew up very poor.
It's likely no one would be willing to give their parents jobs, no matter how qualified they might be. And this would explain their fascination with money—they never had anything growing up, so they can't get enough of it now.
Before becoming criminals, the gang tried to start a band.
Come on—Piranha being able to make a catchy song from sheer talent may be acceptable, but the rest of the gang shredding their respective instruments out of nowhere? Perhaps when they had met up and were trying to scrape together a living, they thought of starting a band, and were probably pretty good at it. But no one showed up because they were scary animals. So they probably gave up on that.
The gang tried to make money honestly before becoming criminals.
Wolf says they'd been pushed into a life of crime, but that would be pretty silly if they didn't try and be good beforehand. Adding on to the theories above, they likely tried to make money honestly before they gave up and turned to stealing to put some food on the table, which slowly turned them into the present-day Bad Guys.
The butt rock is from an alien planet.
Maybe a little Call-Back to the main series!
That Goldin Dolphin is not a normal statue.
This thing manages to survive an explosion that made a police officer's hat fly off from miles away? And lands perfectly on its base?? Seriously???
  • The Golden Dolphin could had been cursed by someone into making life of those that touched it miserable. That's why it survived the explosion - to continue making others suffer.
In the opening car chase, Wolf was imagining the entire inrtoduction.
Maybe Snake not noticing Wolf talking to no one about the gang makes sense because he was focusing on opening the safe, but the rest of the gang should have noticed at some point. Perhaps Wolf was just imagining everything he was doing, and he probably does this at the end, too. In fact, instead of "And it's [Snake's] birthdaaay!" when talking about Snake, he could have actually said "Y'know, it's your birthdaaay!" to Snake, leading Snake to go "Not relevant".
Marmalade lied to Snake about the death trap.
Given how Snake does question what's going to happen to Wolf and Diane after Marmalade captured them, maybe Marmalade lied about what he was going to do with them, saying he would imprison them, leading to Snake thinking they'd be trapped but safe.
There's a side of Los Angeles where there are more animals.
I mean, the gang are, like, the only animals, outside of the guinea pigs and Diane. Perhaps there's a side or community of Los Angeles with more animals. However, maybe the humans' side has the good stuff, like banks and everything, so the Bad Guys went there for their crimes. Additionally, this could be why wealthy and influential characters live in the human side—Marmalade would prefer living in the sides with more luxury, and Diane is a governer, so she would be living near all the facilities and stuff.

     Sequel Theories

Other potential villains
  • Queen Bee onsàáy
  • Dr Drillaägh
  • Shaård
  • Dread Overlord Splaarghon
  • Marmalade in his alien form
  • Chief Luggins
  • Buck Thunders
  • Mr. Snake
  • A Canon Foreigner villain
  • A human criminal who will represent Humans Are the Real Monsters trope
  • The other gang of animal criminals who will act as the Bad Guys Psycho Rangers
Milton the Velociraptor will appear in the sequel
  • Milton the Velociraptor is the last member of the Bad Guys to join them in the books, and what better way to round out the gang than for Milton the Velociraptor to join the crew in the sequel? It probably won’t happen at the beginning of the next movie, but he will eventually join them by the middle or end of the sequel movie.
The other Agents will appear in the sequel.
  • There’s a chance that in this version, Kitty Cat, Hogwild, Doom, and Shortfuse were Diane’s old crew before she split and became the Crimson Paw.
  • If not all of them, then at the very least we’d probably get some version of Kitty Kat and Hogwild.
  • It is a good chance that one of the agents could be gender swapped to male. Most likely Hogwild or Shortfuse. If either of them appeared.
The Bad Guys' team pet, the Cat, will get more screen time
  • He might even have his name revealed.
  • The Cat will also join the gang in their crime-fighting missions.
The other International League of Heroes agents will be eased in gradually rather than as a separate group.
  • In the first movie, Diane (the film canon's Agent Fox) is adapted early and solo, and appears to be set up as The Sixth Ranger of the Bad Guys rather than as the leader of the International League of Heroes. As such it may make sense if the other I.L.O.H members are instead introduced one by one (maybe even pre-Heel–Face Turn) and adopted into the Bad Guys rather than as a merging of the two groups like in the books. More than likely, Hilarity Ensues as the group gets crowded and similar shake ups as in the novels occur.
Mr. Pirahna's family would appear, particularly his dad named Papa Piranha
  • Since Papa Piranha appeared in episode 10 became a major character in the following entry, it is likely that he would appear in the sequel. So will his family. Only in minor roles.

Casting possibilities for the International League of Heroes agents in the sequel

     Prequel Theories

If the movie gets a prequel, it will delve into the Bad Guy’s past and what happened to make them be the loveable gang that we see today.
  • We didn’t see it in the movie, we only heard about the events that drove the Bad Guys to do their life of crime. But a Prequel might show that they were hated, feared, or bullied when they were younger. Mr. Wolf, Snake, Ms. Tarantula, Shark, and Piranha were the only ones who didn’t hate each other so they started their gang and became a criminal found family.
    • It also may adapt some plot points from the books, such as Wolf and Snake's background together (depending on whether the Age Lift is valid), and Webs coming into the group and curing Shark's arachnophobia.
Related to the above, the prequel will have at the very least the gang’s first heist, and if they have time for more in the movie, all of the heists up until the Bank Robbery and Golden Dolphin Heist that they show in the first movie.
  • Some people might like to see all of the heist hi-jinx that our five lovable rogues did before all of the things they do in the present Bad Guys movie. Did they have any close calls where the police almost got them before the Golden Dolphin Heist? A Prequel could answer that.
Alternatively, a prequel could show Diane Foxington and all of her heists and life of crime when she was younger as the Crimson Paw.
  • It might be possible to see all of the things that Diane Foxington stole and whether she was living the good life until she went for the Golden Dolphin, and then even after she turns her life around, it would be interesting to see how she got the election to become the Governor of the city that the Bad Guys live in.
