Trivia / Reptilicus

Go To

  • Backed by the Pentagon: Featured dozens of soldiers and displays of some of the best gear possessed by the Danish army (unusual at the time; most similar movies had to rely on Stock Footage).
  • Colbert Bump:
  • Creator Backlash: Sidney W. Pink, the director of the English-language version, was not happy with AIP's treatment of the film in postproduction and even threatened to sue them over it.
  • The Danza: Dirch Passer plays Dirch Mikkelsen (Peterson in the English version)
  • Executive Meddling: The American version of the film was delayed because the heads of American International Pictures wanted some changes to the film before releasing it. They ranged from the quite sensible (an over-dubbing of the Danish actors, whose English-speaking abilities admittedly weren't the strongest) to the more questionable (they cut the scenes of Reptilicus flying for being "too unrealistic," but at the same time they added laughably bad effects to some scenes of Reptilicus spitting green acid).
  • Fake American: Carl Ottosen as General Grayson and Marla Behrens as Dr. Miller. Behrens actually replaced Bodil Miller, who played the role in the original Danish version but couldn't speak English. (This ended up being a moot point considering that the movie was redubbed for the English version anyway.)
