Acclaimed Flop: Like most of Laika's output, the movie earned great reviews but didn't make much money, not reaching its $60 million budget domestically and failing to double it with $107 million worldwide.
Enforced Method Acting: Kodi Smit-McPhee (the voice of Norman) has recalled in interviews that for certain scenes (such as the bathroom scene and car chase scene) he would have to shake himself in his chair or even stand up to achieve the desired effect.
The Merch: In-universe. The legend of the witch's curse has 'inspired' several witch-themed businesses in town, including a casino and a stand selling 'Witchy Wienies.'
Missing Trailer Scene: In the finished film, the aerobics instructor's buttocks aren't as... detailed as they were in the trailer.
Technology Marches On: During the school play sequence, everyone in the crowd is using camcorders. These days, most people would use smartphones for filming. While cell phones are common possessions, they're all of the slide or flip-phone variety.
