- Approval of God: As seen on Kazutaka Kodaka's Twitter account, he is very much willing to praise and promote fan art of the game, especially that of Shinigami herself.
- Colbert Bump: The game was given even more attention after NicoB started playing it.
- Creator Couple:
- The actors of Desuhiko and Kurane, Khoi Dao and Laura Stahl are currently dating.
- Amber Lee Connors and Howard Wang, voice of Halara and Yomi are married in real life.
- Creator-Driven Successor: To the Danganronpa games. Focusing on solving mysteries through a series of mini games with a quirky and heavily stylized story and visuals, as well as a lot of the crew, including the character designer with a very distinctive style heavily associated with the other franchise and the original creator, director, and composer, behind it. The creators expected the overlap in fans since one of the game's biggest twists- the pink blood reveal- has much more impact if you're already familiar with Danganronpa.
- Creator's Oddball: By Word of God, even Kazutaka Kodaka himself thinks this is a "strange and distorted game", and he'd be right on that matter what with it possessing a strong sense of despair and cynicism deep underneath it that is unlike most things he has produced before.
- Creator's Pest: Kodaka himself admits that he designed Yomi Hellsmile specifically to be a Hate Sink, and he wouldn't be compatible in the setting of Danganronpa due to being too naive. To put that into context, Danganronpa is a setting where someone like Junko Enoshima exists, and by Kodaka's words, he's even worse than that.
- Development Hell: According to Word of God, the game took six years to develop. By estimation, this means production started just before or during the release of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, which was released in 2017.
- Inspiration for the Work: Kazutaka Kodaka has explained that his creation of the game was largely inspired by the mystery genre, which led him to create something that also served to introduce players to the idea of mystery games while also serving as a reminder of his previous series, Danganronpa, for any returning fans.
- Irony as She Is Cast: Iruka is not stated to be a swimmer, which clears her of Chapter 3's crime. Her voice actor, Karen Strassman is.
- No Port For You: The game is a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
- Playing Against Type: Kaiji Tang typically plays either stoic warriors, like Gaius Worzel and Kanbei, or Cloudcuckoolanders like Owain or Danganronpa's Yasuhiro. Here, he voices Yakou, a jaded, cowardly Nervous Wreck.
- Playing Their Own Twin: In the endgame, Yuma's voice actor ends up voicing both Makoto Kagutsuchi and Yuma Kokohead following Makoto's Dramatic Unmask, since they're actually the exact same person In-Universe, voice included.
- Release Date Change: Of a sort, it was originally announced to be slated for Spring 2023, but for unknown reasons it was delayed to June 30th.
- Refitted for Sequel: While not exactly a sequel, Kodaka has stated that the trick of Chapter 0 was originally going to be used for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony before it was scrapped for being too big and refitted to be used for this game.
- Sequel Gap: Or rather Spiritual Successor gap. Kodaka's previous Danganronpa-styled Murder Mystery game, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, was released on January 2017 in Japan and September 2017 worldwide. This game was released in June 2023, six years apart, which is largely due to the fact that it took the game that long to produce.
- Trolling Creator: The game's promotional material heavily showcased the Master Detectives introduced in Chapter 0 as well as their powers, implying they were going to be part of the overall main cast - all of them die by the end of the chapter.
- Working Title: The game was initially titled Enigma Archives: Rain Code, as a reference to the mystery aspect of the game.
