• Dueling Shows: The Australian version of the show, broadcast in Network Ten, has an ongoing rivalry with Seven Network's My Kitchen Rules, which is a blatant imitator of the former.
• In Memoriam: The first episode of series 15 was dedicated to Jock, who passed away suddenly on 30 April 2023, just a day before the show was initially due to premiere. The final episode of the season also ended with a tribute to him.
• On-Set Injury: Declan (season 15) got a very nasty cut on his hand from preparing scampi.
• The Red Stapler:
  • As it states on that page, the trope is now known as "The MasterChef Effect" in Australia thanks to custard apples appearing on the show.
  • Aside from the typical food-related examples, worry beads were subject to this during Jock's tenure as a judge. Jock, who dealt with anxiety, would often be seen using worry beads on-camera during the show and even gave some to one contestant who withdrew for mental health reasons. Many Australians only found out about them and their usage by those with anxiety via Jock's use of them on the show.
• What Could Have Been: Season 15 was initially subtitled "Secrets and Surprises", including one of the twists being the reintroduction of Brent who went on to win. After Jock suddenly passed away, the subtitle was dropped and most references to it were removed.
