• Actor-Shared Background: Like Otani, both his anime actor Akira Nagata and live-action actor Teppei Koike hail from Osaka.
• Bonus Material: Volume 8 of the manga contains an "activity supplement" with some trivia info, a resume of important subplots of the story (up until that point), terms used in the series, basic Kansai dialect's phrases, etc.
• Celebrity Voice Actor:
  • Otani is voiced in the anime by singer and actor Akira Nagata, who is mostly known as Seigi Ozaki, in Kamen Rider Den-O. Otani is one of his few voice acting roles.
  • In Discotek Media's English dub, Cain is (rather fittingly) voiced by gaming YouTuber Charles "Critikal" White.
• Copiously Credited Creator: In the anime's English dub, Marissa Lenti is Mimi Yoshioka's voice actor as well as the ADR director and writer.
• Creator Backlash: Brendan Blaber (aka JelloApocalypse), one of the writers of the English dub, spoke at length on how much he hated the series, how he made it "better" when he localized it, and spoke poorly of one of the original voice actors, for which he received immense backlash online and, as a result, Sound Cadence and Discotek immediately cut ties with him.
• Dawson Casting: Everyone in the Live-Action Adaptation's main cast are much older than their characters' supposed ages. For example, Teppei Koike (Otani) was 20 years old when the movie was released in 2006.
• Extremely Lengthy Creation: The English dub was a case of this, taking 2 years to complete, due to being recorded in-between the various other shows Sound Cadence Studios were working on in that time. Various factors, such as Discotek's low budgets for dubbing (which is why they usually prefer movies or short OVAs/TV series) and Sound Cadence founder Amber Lee Connors' love of the series, ultimately led to the dub being produced under a special budget and a lengthier production time than usual to account for that.
• Late Export for You: The anime was first released in North America in 2012, five years after its Japanese premiere.
• Non-Singing Voice: In the anime, the vocals for Umibouzu's songs are provided by Smokey Tetsuni (from Crazy Ken Band) instead of Hisao Egawa, his voice actor.
• The Other Darrin: The cast from the the Drama CDs and the PlayStation 2's video game differ in some aspects from the anime.

• Queer Character, Queer Actor: In the anime's English dub, the transgender character of Seiko is voiced by Oz/Siv Ryan, who is genderfluid.
• Real-Life Relative: Two real-life married couples voice the series' couples in the Discotek dub. Howard Wang and Amber Lee Connors voice main couple Atsushi and Risa, while Alejandro Saab and Hayden Daviau voice Heikichi and Nobuko.
• Role-Ending Misdemeanor: One of the English dub's writers, Brendan Blaber, had his contributions cut and got blacklisted from all future Sound Cadence and Discotek productions after he posted a lengthy rant on his Patreon about how much he despised the series, outright admitted to changing the script to make it "better", and attacked both one of the original voice actors and Aya Nakahara, which all resulted in an immense amount of online backlash.
• Studio Hop: In North America, Viz Media released the Live-Action Adaptation in 2008. Discotek Media re-released the film on Blu-ray 16 years later.
• You Sound Familiar: Kenjiro Tsuda voiced Nakao in the Drama CD and Suzuki in the anime.
