Trivia / LPS: Popular

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Every single character in the series is voiced by SophieGTV. The only exception is Chase. His single line is exactly one word:
    Chase: WHAT?!?
  • Crossdressing Voices: All characters are voiced by Sophie, regardless of gender.
  • Development Hell: Episode 29. It took three-years to produce, and there was a good reason for that; Sophie got into a car accident. This obviously put her completely out of commission for quite some time. Even years later, she still suffered from chronic pain, which made recording LPS videos much more difficult. Even when episode 29 was finally posted, very minimal updates have been made about episode 30. No video has been posted to her channel since, and all her SophieGTV social medias have been silent too. COPPA, which was a rule introduced by Youtube in 2020 that automatically blocked comments and lowered monetization on videos marketed towards kids, appears to be a reason for this.
  • Follow the Leader:
    • This series led to the boom of several other LPS series that take place in an American-style High School and have a strikingly similar plot involving a girl who recently moved from elsewhere and have a crush on a boy who is currently dating the leader of the three popular girls, with the other two being a Beta Bitch and The Ditz. The popular girls end up becoming rivals to the new girl, who ends up being with two best friends as well. Not everyone approves of this constant theme, however.
    • This series inspired pretty much every other LPS series to have the caterpillar LPS molds be called "crickets" and be used as pets.
  • Fake American: The series takes place in California and SophieGTV is Canadian.
  • Fake Nationality: Sophie GTV is Canadian, but voices all of the French characters on the show (most notably Bridgette and Violette.)
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Between November 2020 and April 2021, the only way to watch the first three episodes were to contact the creator through email or watch uploads others had made on Youtube.
  • Reality Subtext: The "LPS NEWS: Tom's Kidnapping" series was made because Sophie got into a car accident and those videos were the only ones she was able to make with her injuries.
  • Sequel Gap: There was a three-year-long gap between episode twenty eight and twenty nine. This was because the creator was injured in a car crash and changed where she filmed for the first time in her eight year long YouTube career.
  • Technology Marches On: The earlier episodes treat instant messaging and emailing as more convenient ways of communicating online instead of texting. The first few episodes also had Rachel Rivera own a Blackberry.
  • What Could Have Been: The first theme song shows that Angelina and Genevieve post makeover were going to be portrayed by different LPS.
