Trivia / Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat

Go To

  • Approval of God: Recurring Devil May Cry series director Hideaki Itsuno positively talked about some things involving Peak of Combat in this interview video, specifically his surprise at how a PvP mode was made for a DMC game like this one, and his experience on working with NebulaJoy.
  • Fan Community Nicknames: The game's official social media platforms address the playerbase and testers as "Hunters", simply derived from the franchise's usage of "Devil Hunters" for its protagonists like Dante.
  • Follow the Leader: Open Beta Test builds and gameplay footage near its release have shown that Peak of Combat plays just like other Chinese-developed Stylish Action mobile games such as Honkai Impact 3rd and Punishing: Gray Raven, due to having a Gacha monetization model, a simplified gameplay/control system (compared to the console DMC games), reliance on character switching, character variations, RPG elements, and ability cooldowns. It's ironic considering how HI3 and PGR were following the footsteps of the Devil May Cry franchise, yet Peak of Combat is a DMC game that's following the likes of these two older titles that gave their own twists to the genre.
  • The Other Darrin: Some recurring Devil May Cry characters have new voice actors for their Peak of Combat incarnations. Furthermore, these role listings were already publicly made on sites like IMDb even before the game got officially released:
  • Production Posse:
    • NebulaJoy handles this mobile game spin-off just as they were also previously involved with another Capcom mobile game spin-off, Mega Man X DiVE. It's why the official YouTube channel for Peak of Combat also lists the YouTube account of X DiVE as a related channel.
    • After working on "Bury the Light" for Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, Composer Casey Edwards and singer Victor Borba once again teamed up to create another Devil May Cry rock song. This time, it's specifically for the Peak of Combat spin-off, titled "Fire Inside", and was unveiled officially for the first time on January 2024. It's worth mentioning that Casey also previously wrote "Exohuman" for Exoprimal, making him a recurring composer for Capcom games at this point even outside of mainline DMC titles.
  • What Could Have Been: Early footage from the Closed Beta Test builds showcased one DMC character having multiple weapons that can be swapped via a Real-Time Weapon Change mechanic, akin to what's possible from Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening onwards. However, the Open Beta Test build and the release version ditched that gameplay in favor of a "character switching" Tag Team mechanic and a focus on different variations of the same DMC character, akin to what other 3D action gachas (like Honkai Impact 3rd or Punishing: Gray Raven) do. Suffice to say, many testers and long-time DMC fans are not happy with this change.
  • Working Title: Early press release or promotion previously called the game as either Devil May Cry: War of the Peak or Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat.
