    Series spanners
  • Due to the series's Player Elimination nature, any post-Episode 1 scene (or post-Episode 2 when the premiere episode was non-elimination one) spoils that contestants featured in them will last until such scene finally happens on the show.
  • If a character has already been eliminated but trailers showed some more scenes with them, it spoils their return on the show. The same applies for debuting on the show.
    • Might also work as a subversion if a scene featuring an already eliminated contestant turns out to come from Aftermath episodes or the finale.
  • Any group shot featured in a trailer will spoil eliminations of contestants who didn't appear, although sometimes it might have the benefit of the doubt of a contestant being missing for different reasons, such as already being captured in the horror-themed challenge.
    • As such, coupled with some other scenes, sometimes it's even possible to deduce at least part of the elimination order.
  • As you'll read below, first eliminations tend to be spoiled, either outright being used in trailers, or by the process of elimination through group shots from early episodes.
  • Unless they will turn out to be from post-merge episodes, any group shots where someone is present with another team spoil potential team switches.

    Total Drama Island
  • While not exactly a trailer, back when Total Drama Island: Totally Interactive! was available on Cartoon Network's website, it was accessible through a banner showing this scene from "Up the Creek" where DJ pushes his team's canoes. It effectively spoiled Ezekiel's, Eva's (first), Katie's, and Tyler's eliminations as well as the fact that remaining Killer Bass members are bound to stay as long as it doesn't happen.
  • This trailer shows scenes from the special and thus spoils Heather becoming bald.
  • The very first trailer featured in this compilation has the narrator state Owen probably won't win (as opposed to listing some others who may), which might make you believe they're trying to subvert expectations and aim for underdog story with him. It also uses Owen's face during the logo, hinting at his bigger role.
  • Trailers of Har-Har-Tharsdays featured in this compilation went even as far as to spoil certain story elements and sometimes show bottom two or three.
    • European airings had similar advertisements, except they were supposed to be Recaps of an episode meant to be aired after the episode had already premiered. However, for several weeks, such advertisements would mistakenly air even before an episode's premiere, thus spoiling it completely, including the elimination.

    Total Drama Action
  • Just about any trailer spoils that Heather will lose her first wig. Some even spoil that she'll get another.
  • While some trailers manage to avoid this, some others (such as ones found in this compilation) will spoil Courtney's debut. Although, to be fair, so does the opening of the season.
  • A shot featured in trailers such as this one of Justin and Owen celebrating getting their golden Chrises, with Lindsay in the background also having one, spoils that they will survive at least one of Killer Grips' elimination ceremonies.

    Total Drama World Tour
  • A promotional pamphlet of the season didn't include Ezekiel on a page with contestants' labels. While it might have been an honest oversight, some rightfully interpreted it as hinting Ezekiel's early elimination.
    • The pamphlet also showed a group shot of everyone freezing in Yukon, essentially spoiling Duncan's, Ezekiel's, and Harold's eliminations prior to the episode.
  • The very first trailer has a few:
    • There's a shot of Team Victory's first elimination ceremony. Since they're shown getting barf bags - Bridgette, Harold, Leshawna, and Lindsay are confirmed to survive it, whereas DJ and Ezekiel are shown to be in bottom 2. The bigger focus on Ezekiel not receiving one hints at him being the first one eliminated from his team.
    • There's a group shot of everyone falling down once a hole enters in the plane which repeats the pamphlet's mistake, only now it also adds Bridgette's elimination to the list.
    • There are two scenes which spoil Leshawna's elimination:
      • There's a scene from the exclusive clip which outright spoils Leshawna will be eliminated. While somewhat dubious at the moment of the trailer's release, it becomes obvious the moment the show announces how Drops of Shame work.
      • A scene where her face is featured on a wall during a song in Aftermath studio. Interestingly, while it ends up subverted, as it turns out to be a part of Harold's song about her which happens before her elimination, she ends up eliminated in the very next episode.
    • While it's incredibly subtle, Alejandro and Heather being the only contestants whose confessionals were used for the trailer hints at them being the final two.
  • However, the same trailer also includes a couple of subversions:
    • The scene of Owen's butt being flashed will make you expect he lasts as long as it's not shown and might potentially return after his elimination. However, it ended up being removed altogether.
    • The scene where Harold is hit by a squirrel will make you believe he returns, although it only works for a rather short timeframe of after his elimination episode and prior to the first Aftermath where it happens.
      • Harold's subverted return to the show is also teased by a later trailer which shows a scene of him surfing during the last Aftermath, which can be easily mistaken as him competing again.
  • An On the Next trailer for Episode 2 shows Ezekiel hanging onto the plane with a parachute attatched to him, clearly spoiling his elimination.
  • On a subverted note, On the Next trailer for Episode 5 shows Heather by the exit of the plane from which contestants take Drops of Shame, saying: "This really was satisfying." However, contrary to what it leads you to believe, she's not eliminated.
  • While first trailers manage to avoid this, later trailers (such as this one) spoil both Duncan's return to the competition as well as Blaineley's debut. It also spoils Gwuncan's kiss and therefore the main Love Triangle.
    • The same trailer uses scenes from episodes as late as 19 and 20, which per always spoil everyone included in them is safe until they're aired. Aside from aforementioned return and debut, it also spoils Heather, Duncan, and Courtney surviving their respective fake eliminations, although only Heather's one is played long enough for it to matter while the latter two are almost instantly announced anyway.
  • Since Sierra is often shown in group shots with Team Amazon while Izzy is sometimes shown in group shots with Team Chris, the trailers (even starting with the very first one) spoil their team switch.
  • A promotional flier for the season accidentally gave away the final two of the last season. This was especially bad because, at the time, the flier came out when there were about six contestants remaining. It was changed before the season aired, but the information had long been out by then.
  • A midseason trailer spoils when Lindsay's elimination happens.
  • The way the narrator treats Cody in a promotional trailer of the finale basically spoils he'll lose the tie-breaker against Alejandro, as the focus is on the tension between Alejandro and Heather while Cody "still being there" is treated as shocking. While Owen received similar treatment in Island (2007)'s trailers, this time it's played straight.

Total Drama: Revenge of the Island
  • On a subverted note, the very first trailer showed a scene from the finale of Staci being eaten by Larry. Many fans believed it spoiled the first elimination, interpreting it as the Hurl of Shame. Interestingly, it could later make you expect Staci to make a return before it finally happens in the finale, with some alterations of Staci now being bald at that.
  • A scene from Canadian trailer of everyone running and being tired upon reaching their location spoiled the first two eliminations - Staci's and Dakota's.
  • The first trailer of this season's compilation found here spoiled Dakota returning as an intern.

    Total Drama: All-Stars
  • While not a trailer itself, the season's synopsis uploaded on Cake Entertainment's website as well as featured on the season's promotional pamphlet listed contestants in the elimination order, with only Gwen and Scott's placement being switched.
  • This trailer tries to hide Alejandro's debut later in the first episode by announcing the robot as the last contestant...while still showing him in a shot announcing Scott.
  • Although trailers included as the third and fourth ones on this compilation tried to hide the identity of the eliminated player, they still ended up spoiling Lindsay's elimination if one bothered to check who the remaining teammates were.
    • So did the group shot of the team having a discussion together from "Evil Dread" featured in a few trailers, such as this one. Interestingly, it might also result in expecting Sam to be eliminated by this point, and while he isn't, he ends up the next teammate eliminated.

    Total Drama: Pahkitew Island
  • The first Italian trailer (keep in mind that Italy was the first country to air this season) outright showed Beardo being eliminated. While paying attention to the remaining teammates, it's also easy to figure out he was the first boot of his team.
  • The second Italian trailer has a couple:
    • A shot of everyone getting electroduced in "I Love You, I Love You Knots" spoiled that Beardo, Leonard, and one of the twins will be the first three eliminations. Interestingly, while not confirming which twin stayed due to poor quality of the trailer, some fans noticed a mole, making fans believe at the time that Amy would outrank her sister, until "Twinning Isn't Everything" proved otherwise.
    • Similarly to one of trailers for All-Stars, the final shot attempts to hide who got eliminated but spoils Beardo's elimination regardless if one bothers to check the remaining teammates. Furthermore, the first trailer already failed to even attempt to hide Beardo in that scene.

Total Drama Island (2023) Part 1
  • Some of the earliest published screenshots, seen on an October 2022 promotional flyer, included two group shots of Frogs of Death. One of them, which appears to be a team discussion similar to a shot from "Evil Dread," has Caleb and Nichelle missing.
  • This trailer showed a shot of an elimination ceremony of the Frogs of Death with Caleb missing, further confirming his status as the first eliminated member of his team.
    • Italian trailer #4 shows a scene of his team walking without him, contributing yet another moment spoiling him being the first boot of his team. A Freeze-Frame Bonus of a shot where everyone's running also reveals Zee as the amputee character. The same shot also has Caleb and Nichelle missing from their team while running away, once again spoiling them as the first two eliminated members of their team.
  • While this trailer doesn't include new spoilers, it uses several aforementioned scenes which spoiled Caleb and Nichelle's eliminations and Zee being an amputee.
  • Aside from the examples above spoiling Caleb as the first boot of his team, the fact that he only appeared in trailers in two scenes, one from a team formation clearly from the first episode, and the other one from the moment when the teams listen to the explanation of the first challenge (suggested by everyone still being present); it also spoils Caleb as not only the first boot of his team but also overall.
  • This CBBC trailer outright showed Axel's elimination. It also showed Zee being the amputee in several scenes, more clearly than any trailer before.
  • Julia's label on her promotional image spoils her being an antagonist.
