The Reason You Suck Speech / Code Prime

Go To

Code Prime, a crossover between Transformers: Prime and Code Geass, has several of these throughout the series, as per the author's tradition.

R1: Rebellion

  • The earliest one, which also counts as What the Hell, Hero?, in the story comes after the Battle of Saitama, where the Autobots call out Lelouch for treating war like a game, and not seeing through Cornelia's plan and nearly getting himself captured.
  • Dreadwing delivers a short and swift one to the Purebloods for their actions regarding Clovis's death and Suzaku's trial in Chapter 8, showing his disgust towards them for it.
Jeremiah: I don't understand. Why doesn't Princess Cornelia order us to attack as well?!
Kewell: She won't because 'Orange' is here. Just be thankful you haven't been disposed of. You're to blame for this. It's due to you our careers are over!
Jeremiah: You're wrong! Zero's the one who did it!
Dreadwing: You have no one but yourselves to blame for your current positions! You framed an innocent man for a crime he did not commit simply because of his position as the son of Japan's previous ruler. You used the death of a member of the royal family, whom you have sworn your allegiance toward, to pursue your agenda! You have betrayed your empire!
Kewell: How dare you! You dare to doubt our loyalty?!
Dreadwing: You know nothing of loyalty or honor. Not even to yourselves. You turned on each other like a pack of beasts simply for that Orange-rumor.
    Jeremiah: You... you...
Dreadwing: We're [sic] up to me, I would end each of you here and now. But that is not my call to make. Just be assured, that I will be watching you very closely. Any further sign of a betrayal and you will answer to me.
  • The next chapter sees Zero confront Kusakabe and the JLF soldiers that have taken Lake Kawaguchi hostage, telling them that they've become like Britannia in holding innocent people hostage and killing them, as well as allowing themselves to end up being a part of Starscream's plan to destroy the Autobots and Black Knights.
  • In Chapter 19, Airachnid gives one to Suzaku, making it abundantly clear that he’s fighting for a side that thrives in crushing idealism:
Suzaku: Dreadwing... why... why would Megatron even allow someone like her into his ranks?
Airachnid: Because he took an interest in my skills. Do you know what was, I did during the war? I specialized in 'information gathering' and by that, I mean... the torture and dismemberment of enemy Autobots.
    Dreadwing: Kururugi, remain calm.
Airachnid: Kururugi? As in 'Suzaku Kururugi'? That explains why you're here. Oh yes, I know all about you. The infamous son of the late Genbu Kururugi, who defected to Britannia.
Suzaku: How do you know about that?!
Airachnid: You'd be surprised what kind of rumors echoes through these ghettos. But I can't imagine why an Eleven would join Megatron's ranks, let alone one with idealism. Was it bribery? Or a promise for power?
Suzaku: No! It's nothing like that!
Dreadwing: Suzaku, do not let her get to you.
Airachnid: You asked me why I do what I do? I already told you it was my hobby. I kill, I butcher, I dismember, I skin alive, that's just who I am. But there is a reason why I choose to hunt in the ghettos. It's because Britannia doesn't care. There are plenty of serial killers and terrorists hiding in these ruins beside myself, and yet, the globe-spanning superpower doesn't do anything to stop them. You're quite the idealist, aren't you, Suzaku? Unfortunately, you're on a side that thrives on killing idealism. Quite the contradictory, don't you think?
  • Airachnid gives one to Cornelia in chapter 22, which has her asking why Euphemia has not been pushed to the curb despite Britannia’s ‘survival of the fittest’ mentality:
Airachnid: You know Cornelia, there has been something I've been meaning to ask you. The motto of Britannia is survival of the fittest, right? As in, the strong survive and the weak die, correct?
    Cornelia: What of it?
Airachnid: Why is little Euphemia still around?
    Cornelia: What?!
Airachnid: I did a little research on the Britannian Royal Family, seeing how we're supposed to be working together and all. Typically, anyone who isn't a warrior like yourself is usually a strategist or a skillful politician. As it turns out, little Euphemia doesn't fall under any of those categories. It makes me wonder why you're even keeping her around. A better question is, why is dead old daddy keeping her around?
Cornelia: It's none of your damn business!
Airachnid: If she's as weak as I've heard, why hasn't your precious Emperor thrown her to the curb? After all, it's not the first time he's done it. What were their names again? Oh right. Lelouch and Nunnally. Their mommy died, so their father threw them to the hounds and killed them. Isn't that right?
Cornelia: No! The Elevens were responsible for their deaths!
Airachnid: I don't think so. The truth is that their lives weren't in danger until Japan got invaded. And who was it that invaded Japan again? Oh, right. It was you. It was Britannia. Seeing how Charles had no qualms over killing his son and daughter like that makes me wonder why he hasn't done the same to useless Euphie.
Cornelia: If you so much as lay a finger on her...
Airachnid: I'm not saying I would do anything. I'm only asking what you would do if daddy tried to kill Euphie like how he killed Lelouch and Nunnally? Would you protect her and betray the empire? Or would you kill her yourself to further cement your position as the 'pride of Britannia'?
    Cornelia: SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
Starscream: Ahem! As entertaining as this is, we have a mission to accomplish. So, release me!
Airachnid: When I have the weapon in hand if I can find my way back without my guide. Oh, and Cornelia, seeing how your Knightmare malfunctioned and you found yourself stranded on this foreign land, I'll take my dearest pleasantries with little Euphie in your stead.
  • When Kallen is captured by Suzaku and Dreadwing and Chapter 28, she rips a new one into Suzaku, calling him out on his inability to take responsibility for his actions and failures while pinning the blame on others, ignoring the atrocities committed by Britannia and the Decepticons, and killing his father.
Suzaku: Kallen, leave the Black Knights and the Autobots.
Kallen: You want me to abandon my friends?! Well that's not happening! You have no idea what they've all done for me! They gave me a chance to stand and fight for what's right! Zero even saved my mother's life!
    Suzaku: What?! He did?
Kallen: You think he's a terrorist, but you couldn't be further from the truth! He gave me hope, they all did! They showed me how I can use my skills to fight monsters like Britannia and the Decepticons! In fact, I've even kicked your ass in my Knightmare!
Suzaku: Are you that red one?
Kallen: Damn right! I've even totaled more than a few cons, like your BFF Airachnid!
Suzaku: Airachnid and I are not friends! I honestly don't want anything to do with her!
Kallen: Yet you and Breakdown teamed up with her during that whole mess with the Polarity Gauntlet!
Suzaku: We had orders to retrieve the weapon. I couldn't let it fall into enemy hands...
Kallen: So, you teamed up with a god damn serial killer to do it?! At first, I didn't think you were so bad, til I found out how much of a hypocrite you are!
    Suzaku: Hypocrite?!
Kallen: Yeah, you heard me! You keep acting like you have the moral high-ground, even though you willingly joined the fascist Britannia and became Megatron's personal attack dog! So, what did Megatron do to buy your loyalty?! Money?! Power?!
    Suzaku: I didn't...I...
Dreadwing: Lord Megatron does not bribe his subordinates, and he did nothing to coerce Suzaku. It was his choice to join our ranks.
Kallen: Oh, quit acting so high and mighty! I know what you guys really are! You're monsters! A den of murderers, butchers, back-stabbers, and psychopaths who didn't bat an eye at even destroying their own home!
Dreadwing: We did not destroy Cybertron! We did everything we could to save it! That was the very reason Megatron formed the Decepticons, to wipe away the corruption that had spread throughout our society and restore the Golden Age! I regret what has befallen our planet, but that was not our intent!
Kallen: So what?! You're gonna tell me Optimus did it?! That he's some kind of murderer?! Well I'm gonna tell you right now that he isn't! Optimus Prime is one of the most honorable and courageous people I've ever met in my entire life! He's been nothing short of a father to me!
Suzaku: He's a father to you?!
Kallen: Damn right he is! Many of the Black Knight and the Autobots feel like family to me! I will never betray them! I lost my brother at the hands of Britannia, I'll be damned if I let them or the Decepticons take any more from me!
    (...)
Suzaku: Kallen...I'm sorry about your brother, really I am...
Kallen: Oh please, like you care about family! Sympathies for the loss of a family member don't mean much when they're from the same person who killed his own father!
Suzaku: How...how on Earth do you know that...?
Kallen: Todoh told me everything. And even then, I can't believe he actually still wants to help you.
Dreadwing: Suzaku...did...did you...really kill your own father?
Suzaku: I...I didn't have a choice. He...he called for do-or-die resistance! Millions of people would have died...Japan would have...!
Kallen: You didn't have a choice?! That's bullshit and you know it! You could have stabbed him in the leg or something! You didn't have to kill him! And now you're only using his death as an excuse! A steppingstone to get what you want!
Suzaku: My father made his choice. Are you saying he was right in sending millions of people to die?!
Kallen: That's not the point! Look, personally I wouldn't have agreed to something like that, but that's not what we're talking about here! You killed your own father and you're blaming him for that, and it's not the only time! You chose to become a Britannian soldier! You chose to join the Decepticons! Quit acting like you didn't have a choice, because you did!
Suzaku: I joined the Britannian military because I want to change the system! It's also the reason I joined the Decepticons, because Megatron said...
Kallen: And you believed him?! After he let that spider-bitch Airachnid back into his ranks after what she did?!
Suzaku: Well perhaps we wouldn't have to go to such methods if your side continues to fight!
Kallen: It's always everybody else's fault and never yours, right Suzaku?! Ironhide was right about you. You cannot take responsibility for all the crap that you do in your life!
Suzaku: Responsibility?! You're lecturing me about responsibility?! Britannia is an empire that controls one third of the entire planet! Trying to get everybody to fight a force as powerful as that is only going to put innocent people in danger!
Kallen: That's always something we try to avoid! We never target civilians, even Britannians! Which is more than I can say for the likes of Britannia and the Cons! Clovis tried to massacre the entire Shinjuku ghetto; Cornelia tried the same thing in Saitama; Starscream used the hotel-jacking to draw us out so he could blow up the entire damn thing; and don't even get me started on what Airachnid did in the ghettos! Even if you two say you guys have a moral code, it doesn't really mean much if you let your leaders continue to slaughter countless people to get what they want! Can you honestly look me in the eyes and say they were right to try and kill those people?!
Dreadwing: No, that's not what we're saying! I agree that there are those, even on our own side, that have less than reputable approaches in certain situations.
Kallen: Keep preaching you damn Con! I don't want to hear your excuses, or yours Suzaku! We're fighting to make this world a better place! Something that son of a bitch Emperor does not want to happen! The world is wrong; Zero, Optimus, all the Black Knights and the Autobots, including me, are trying to change it!
Suzaku: If you want to change it so badly, you can stop fighting and propose a peaceful solution to us! But all you're doing is fighting, which leaves me no choice but to take a stand against you!
Kallen: Are you even listening to yourself?! What am I, some kind of comic book villain controlling your mind?! You do have a choice, Suzaku! You've always had a choice! All the bad stuff you've done...Killing your dad, attacking us, that was all you! And by trying to put the blame on us, you're just making yourself look like a pussy.(...) There is nothing you can say to me that will make me change my mind Suzaku. I'm a Black Knight, a friend and ally to the Autobots. That will never change. I know what I'm fighting for. Do you?
  • Later in Chapter 28, Starscream calls out Suzaku for constantly disrespecting him, disobeying him, and hesitating to kill enemies, after the Black Knights and Autobots escaping from Kamine Island with the Gawain proves to be the straw that breaks his back. He also delivers one to the Britannian army as well.
Starscream: Every single one of you wretched Britannians has failed to deliver any kind of results! You squabble over the most pitiful and vain of matters, allowing our enemies to grow every single day! At least Schneizel is willing to deliver results when he ordered that bombardment on the Lancelot! But the rest of you are ineffective and incompetent! And I will not tolerate this any longer!
    • Kallen later gives Suzaku another short one in Chapter 31, calling him out on his Death Seeker tendencies. Unlike their last meeting, where Suzaku tried coming up with counter-arguments, this time around, he agrees with her, having realized it himself earlier.
Kallen: You said you joined the military to try and change Britannia, but you can't change anything if you're dead! You think you'd make yourself a martyr if you died?! You're an Eleven in their eyes, they won't care! You'd abandon all your so-called friends just to "redeem" yourself. That's not redemption Suzaku, that's being a coward.
  • In Battle at Kyushu Sawazaki gives one to Suzaku once he figures out that he’s piloting the Lancelot. He also gives one to Dreadwing, saying that there is no honor in war, and that you do whatever it takes to win.
Sawazaki: This is Minister Sawazaki, is that Prime Minister Kururugi's son in the pilot seat? I see, I didn't know he had a son like you.
Suzaku: This has nothing to do with my father! We came here to put an end to this fighting! I will accept your surrender!
Sawazaki: You want to rob Japan of its dream of freedom?
Suzaku: Freedom has to come the right way! Not like this!
Sawazaki: You act out of selfishness! It's justice without ideology!
    Suzaku: No, you're wrong…!

Sawazaki: You had better surrender, Suzaku. Your transforming friend, as well as the Knights of the Round have no chance at surviving. However, given that you are Prime Minister Kururugi's son, I guarantee that you'll be very well treated my boy.
Suzaku: I decline! I'll never abandon my friends, and if I used my father's name for this, I'd never forgive myself! This is between you and me, leave the Knights of the Round out of this!
Dreadwing: Seeing how he has the advantage Suzaku, it is highly unlikely he will.
Sawazaki: Your mechanical friend is indeed correct, Suzaku. I have four of Britannia's elite pilots right in my grasp. There is no way I'd ever let such a golden opportunity slip through my fingers!
Dreadwing: You wear us down with sheer numbers as opposed to direct confrontation. You are no warrior, and you have no honor!
Sawazaki: There is no such thing as honor when it comes to war and victory, alien. Strategy and opportunity are keys to obtaining victory. Anyone who says otherwise is either foolish or deceitful.
    • When the Autobots and Black Knights arrive to rescue Suzaku, along with Dreadwing, Gino, Monica, and Anya, Sawazaki is contacted by Todhoh and Katase who call him a cowardly opportunist.
Sawazaki: I don't understand! Why would the Autobots and Black Knights work alongside Britannia?! They're enemies!
Tohdoh: We could ask you the same thing.
Sawazaki: Tohdoh… and Katase?! You're alive?!
Katase: Reports of my death were greatly exaggerated.
Sawazaki: Why… why are you fighting me though?! Shouldn't be working together as comrades?! Don't you care about Japan?!
Tohdoh: The Black Knights and the Autobots protect the freedom of all sentient beings.
Sawazaki: That's exactly what I'm trying to do! I'm trying to free Japan from Britannia!
Katase: You fled the country the second our cabinet fell apart! You sold yourself to the Chinese Federation and are now about to sell out the country to them too! You are a disgrace, Atsushi Sawazaki!
  • Megatron is the king of this speech throughout the series, delivering no less than five of these throughout R1.
    • The first is in Chapter 23 when he decides to make Mao Shockwave's latest specimen to experiment on after he fails to capture C.C. and kill Lelouch/Zero one too many times.
Megatron: You believe if you read a person's thoughts, you would know everything. While such an ability can be useful, you seem incapable of using it properly. When your opponent outwits you, you lose all sense of self-control and enter a state of blind rage. You're no soldier, you're a child! Now look at yourself, you are incapable of speaking, no doubt a result of Lelouch's Geass. Oh yes, I've been aware of Zero's identity as Lelouch Vi Britannia for quite some time now. I simply acted ignorant to test you and see what you're capable of. I'm not impressed. However, I will admit that your revelation of the existence of Geass, as well as the one known as 'C.C.' has opened my mind to new possibilities. So, rest assured, my dear Mao, you and your Geass will still have much to contribute to the Decepticon cause... a science experiment!
    • The second one comes from Chapter 28 when he captures V.V. and has Shockwave subject him to the Cortical Psychic Patch, learning of the Ragnarok Connection. His speech is the same as the one to Mao, calling him out for allowing his immortality to get the better of him and defy Charles's orders, severely underestimating the Decepticon leader, as well as the Autobots.
Megatron: Ragnarok. I never knew Charles was so ambitious...to come up with such a grand goal, and the plan on how to achieve it...how deceptive. It's a shame his dear brother has decided to act out against his wishes. Perhaps I may have underestimated you and your brother Victor, but not as drastically as you've underestimated me. You thought by teleporting Optimus, Lelouch, Suzaku, Dreadwing and their allies to Kamine Island via the Thought Elevator, you would not only gain leverage over me, but even trigger a trap that would enable Lelouch and Kaizaren to lose control of their Geass abilities, which you would turn to your advantage. Though I suppose that's more of a matter of underestimating Optimus and the influence he has on his allies. Regardless, you believed your immortality made you invincible, that you were the pinnacle of the power of Geass. But you have no idea what true power is! I have seen true power! And it makes even the Geass look weak and insignificant by comparison! In the end, you are as you appear to be, just a spiteful child!
    • The third one is from Chapter 29, where he tears apart Suzaku's ideals and beliefs, his inability to accept responsibility for his actions and failures, his Death Seeker tendencies, and his hesitance and insubordination.
Megatron: Britannia can change for the better, you say? And how exactly would you go about that?
Suzaku: By making them trust me! Once I have their trust, I can invoke the change from within!
Megatron: And how can you earn their trust if you are unable to provide acceptable results? How can a soldier who's only known for failure possibly make change within a system that is designed specifically to oppress people of your very stature?
Suzaku: But...none of that...the Autobots and Black Knights...
Megatron: So you chose not to accept responsibility for your own failures? (...) Even your enemies see this flaw in you. How sad. (...) This has always been a problem for you, Suzaku. You have a goal in mind, but no plan to accomplish it. And you never learn; your arrogance and stubbornness will trump your skills and resolve every time. It's why you've failed to defeat or even capture a single enemy.
    • He gives a fourth one to Starscream when he learns that Megatron knew for months of Zero’s true identity:
Starscream: You discovered Zero's identity, and you choose not to tell me!? Your first lieutenant?!
Megatron: What would you have done with this information, Starscream?
Starscream: Why… I would have leveled that boy's residency and saw to his immediate termination!
Megatron: Exactly! You would have acted rash without thinking of the consequence! True, you might have eliminated Zero, but Optimus and the Autobots would still live! Our enemies would still be a threat! It is best to wait and bide your time so that you may eliminate all your enemies in one stroke as opposed to drawing out countless battles!
    • The fifth one is in Chapter 34, where he brutally dismantles Charles's hypocrisy and his infantile motivations behind his planning of the Ragnarök Connection:
Megatron: The four of you (Charles, V.V., C.C., and Marianne) despised this world, believing it to be nothing but a pit of despair and destruction. However, rather than actually attempt to change this world with your power as the Emperor, you feared humanity would go against you as you believe warfare is their nature, and you're not entirely wrong. So, while you fostered Britannia's Darwinist beliefs in the spotlight, you and your followers intended to use your power and knowledge over Geass to "slay" your supposed gods and merge the collective consciousness of humanity into a singularity, supposedly allowing you and this world to Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence and allowing you to finally achieve the "gentler existence" you so desired. I can't say for certain if this would also affect Cybertronians, or we would simply be left behind in this form of existence, but either way, you and those you claim to care for would be free... or rather more specifically, you would be able to escape from me. I'll give you credit for coming up with such a complex and underhanded scheme to deceive not only your own nation, but your own family. Speaking as your mentor, I'm actually rather proud. Or rather I would be, if your desire wasn't so childish.
      • And in the illusion created by his Dark Geass, Megatron continues to tear apart Charles's childish mindset, his overly-favoring of brains over brawn, and his refusal to change and grow:
Megatron: Physical strength and mental prowess. Each one can take you far in life should you master one; but, one cannot truly excel if you don't master both. Do you remember? I told you that I was the Champion of the Pits of Kaon not only due to my savage might, but also my cunning. I mastered both of them. You only managed to learn how to become cunning, while you lacked physical power. That being said, did you believe your deception had even the slightest chance of succeeding? That your Geass could somehow make up for your lack of power? Not a very good listener, are you? It hardly matters, when everything is all set and done; everything you and your followers have worked on, everything you've ever built; the Geass Order, Ragnarök, it's nothing more than a childish squabble. The work of a frightened little boy too mad at the world, despite having the power to try and change it as Emperor. It's the nature of battle: until you defeat what cowers you, you cannot truly become who you are meant to be. But to do that, you must break the shackles that hold you down, just as I did, just as Optimus, and even Lelouch did, we have all gone through that transformation, while you have not. From the very moment we've met, you've always been afraid, but what were you afraid of? Were you afraid of being weak? Were you afraid of dying? Or maybe you were afraid of being left alone? That is why you created your precious Ragnarök, and why you never mourned over the deaths of your children; you believed that by merging with the collective consciousness of humanity, you would be reunited with all those you claim to hold dear, so it didn't matter whether or not they resented you in this life. What a foolish and childish gesture. Don't make me laugh; you're the one playing games. Look at you, you're the same as your brother. You might have aged physically, as opposed to him, but in your heart you're both the same as when I met you. Just two weak, pathetic, spiteful, cowardly little children.
  • Also worth mentioning is Charles being chewed out by his children in the illusion created by Megatron's Dark Geass, which brings out a person's worst fears, Charles's being all of his children renouncing him and leaving him.
Illusion!Lelouch: I'm leaving you Charles, we are leaving.
Charles: What are you talking about?! Where are you going?!
Illusion!Nunnally: Some place far away from you.
Illusion!Lelouch: It's time to go, Nunnally.
Illusion!Nunnally: Yes. Our father is expecting us.
Charles: I'm standing right here, you insolent fools!
Illusion!Lelouch: We're not speaking of you. Optimus Prime is more of a father to us than you ever were.
Illusion!Nunnally: He is so kind and gentle, unlike you. Goodbye Charles, we will not meet again.
Charles: Lelouch! Nunnally! Don't you turn your back on me!
Illusion!Cornelia: Why wouldn't they? You've been nothing but cruel to them both.
Illusion!Euphemia: You sent them to death and you lied to us about their deaths. It's no wonder they've renounced you.
Illusion!Cornelia: In fact, it's a wonder why the two of us even bothered staying with you as well. Well, nothing is stopping us now.
Illusion!Euphemia: I believe the Autobots will be a better family to us. A family that we deserve, don't you agree sister?
Illusion!Cornelia: Yes, I do. Let's not keep them waiting.
Charles: No! You will not walk away from me!
Illusion!Clovis: They have every right to do so. You would discard them without a moment's hesitation just as you did even me. My death was a steppingstone toward your precious progress, was it not?
Illusion!Schneizel: That's all we've ever been to you, Charles. We've been expendable pawns for you, to be thrown away whenever you saw fit. So, it's time for us to finally take our leave.
Illusion!Rai: You left me, my mother, and my sister to all die. I'm glad I renounced you and joined Lelouch!
Illusion!Marrybell: You even dismissed my mother and sister's murders as well. But we will not abide by your wishes anymore.
  • Suzaku gets another one from Lelouch/Zero in Chapter 32 after the Decepticons massacre the Special Administrative Zone by kidnapping Euphemia and replacing her with a Pretender, and Suzaku blames the Black Knights and the Autobots for having the audacity to fight Britannia and the Decepticons. What really makes Lelouch's speech to Suzaku noteworthy is this is the speech where Suzaku finally realizes that he's been on the wrong side from the beginning, and finally decides to join the Autobots and Black Knights alongside Dreadwing.
Suzaku: This is your fault! If you and the Autobots hadn't fought Britannia, then the Decepticons wouldn't have gotten involved, and none of this would be happening! Why didn't you just work with Britannia?! Why did you have to fight them?!
Lelouch: That's not why you're upset. You're not mad at me, or any of them. You're mad at yourself for not protecting Euphie. But I shouldn't be surprised, considering that's how you've always been.
    Suzaku: What?!
Lelouch: This is what you've always done from the beginning Suzaku! Ever since I met you again in Shinjuku! You always look for someone or something else to blame for what happened! It's so much easier to blame someone else than yourself, isn't it?! But I don't expect anything less from someone who's already given up! That's all you've ever done Suzaku! You've given up! You gave up on your father! You gave up on Japan! You gave up on your friends! You even gave up on me, Nunnally, and Euphemia! You gave up on everything and everyone! The only thing you've ever wanted was to die so you wouldn't have to live with the guilt that you've tried to ignore all these years, because you felt it was the easiest thing to do!
Suzaku: No...no...you're wrong! I don't have to listen to a damn thing you say! You don't understand! YOU COULD NEVER UNDERSTAND!
Lelouch: Oh, I think I do! You want to know why the Autobots and Black Knights all fight?! It's because of horrors and atrocities just like this! (gestures to the sight of the SAZ Massacre) The Decepticons turned their own planet into a lifeless husk! Britannia destroyed entire nations and subjugated them to slavery! Look around you, Suzaku! Megatron started a massacre and used Euphemia's face to do it! The Britannians didn't even hesitate to jump on the bandwagon and join the slaughter! That's why we've been fighting! Those people...those monsters...Megatron...my father...THEY ARE PURE EVIL! And you would sooner subjugate countless people to that evil and kill yourself so that you don't have to bear that responsibility! You would rather end your own life than admit you were wrong!
    Suzaku: But...I...that's not...
Lelouch: And now...even after all that...you're still blaming others?! Just because you've made mistakes that you don't think you can fix, that doesn't permit you to run away and lock yourself in darkness, pretending to be ignorant of all the people that you helped to hurt! Are you really going to take that attitude with Euphie?! Britannia is probably going to use her image as propaganda to further their own cause! Are you going to just sit there and let that happen?! If you're really her knight, then you should be doing everything to save her! And if you can't save her life, then save her name! See to it that the world doesn't view her as a murderer! That's what I'm going to do! But what about you?! Maybe you made mistakes, and maybe people won't forgive you for them, but you still have to stand your ground without making excuses for yourself! You owe that to everyone who was hurt because of you!

R2: Revolution

  • In a Shout-Out to Yondu's speech to Rocket, Kallen rips into Ayano's tough girl act and attitude in To Divide and Unite.
Strongarm: Ayano Kosaka, I highly recommend you return to Castle Weisswolf with us immediately.
Ayano: Or what? You'll kill me right here?
Kallen: No, that's not what we do. We're not going to kill you, but at least just hear us out. We understand why you're doing this...
Ayano: Do you?! You think just because we're Japanese you know what I've gone through in my life?!
Kallen: Yes, I do! Because I know exactly what kind of person you are. I know you try to act like a fierce fighter, unafraid of getting into a fight, when you're really more scared than you think.
    Ayano: Shut up!
Kallen: I know that even though you act all unfriendly and hostile, you stick around with your gang because you see them as the only family you have left, because you've lost everyone else!
    Ayano: I said shut up!
Kallen: You lost somebody you loved! Maybe it was a lover, or a parent, or a sibling, or maybe all-of-the-above, and you don't want to run the risk of losing anybody else!
    Ayano: I'm serious...!
Kallen: You're acting the way you do because you try to see the worst in everyone, because you're too caught up in your own pain and anger to see there are people who are genuinely trying to help you! I know exactly who you are, Ayano! Because I was just like you!
  • In Chapter 20, after their Knightmares combine into the Hercules the Black Wyvern unit give one to the resurrected Shin, causing him to have a breakdown, allowing them to slice his new Knightmare, the Thanatos, in two:
Shin: No! No! I will not lose to you children! Not again!
Akito: You want to know why you keep losing, brother? Because I think that's what you want.
    Shin: What?
Ayano: You heard em. You think this world is a dark and miserable place.
Yukiya: And you're not wrong, it's got some shitty people in it, with you near the top of it all.
Ryo: But this world's also got a lot that's worth fighting for.
Leila: We have friends, family, people that we love, with many more families out there hoping for a better world for their children. And that is a future that's worth fighting for.
Akito: But all you see is pain and darkness. That's all you've ever seen, isn't it? It's all you really can see. You don't want to live in this world, so you want to die… but you want to take everyone else with you, thinking it'll save everyone from this pain. To be honest, I pity you, brother.
  • In Chapter 25 of R2, when V.V./Nemesis Prime has a temper tantrum after being compared to Optimus, Barricade shuts him up with this.
Barricade: I'm not here to babysit you! You don't wanna be treated like a kid, then act your age! Megatron told me that you and your brother were among the most cunning humans on this planet, which isn't saying much given how weak your race is. Prime is strong and smart, and he knows how to use both his strength and intelligence! You wanna stand a chance against him? Do the same! Stop being that little whiny brat V.V. and start being Nemesis Prime! Or throw another temper tantrum, and I'll have Soundwave use a spacebridge to zap you to the center of the sun!
  • In Chapter 26, after V.V./Nemesis tells Optimus about how he blames him for everything going wrong, and refusing to accept that it was all his own doing, Optimus fires back at him:
Optimus: You see the people of this world as tools to use, pieces on a chess board to be directed and manipulated, but they are so much more than that. They are free to choose whatever path they want in life, be it good or ill, and nobody has the right to take that freedom from them. Not even you. You killed Lelouch's mother, crippled his sister, and hurt so many others… and you may have indeed set him down a path you wanted… but I helped him to show what other paths he could take. I didn't direct or tell him what he should do, I simply showed him what he was capable of. He chose this path of his own will, chose the path away from what you and your brother wanted. But you are here of your own choice. Not his or mine.
    V.V./Nemesis: Shut up!
Optimus: You chose to plot with Charles. And while I'm not completely certain of the circumstances, I can likely assume that you chose to go to Megatron, assuming your own immortality could trump whatever powers he had at the time. You chose to underestimate him and that led to where you are now. You are imprisoned and enslaved now, because of your own choices. Not mine and not Lelouch's, and you have no right to blame us for that.
  • In chapter 29, Megatron gives one to V.V./Nemesis after returning from Cybertron and finding him crawling towards the Thought Elevator:
Megatron: Why am I not surprised? Crawling on the ground like the insect that you are.
V.V./Nemesis: M-Megatron…! Quickly…! Prime and Zero…! They're on their way here! They'll be here any minute! Please! Help me!
Megatron: I'm aware. I have no intent of letting them have their way, nor you yours. You wanted to jumpstart Ragnarök, didn't you? I've grown rather tired of this, Victor. Truly, I never actually believed you were even capable of defeating Optimus or Lelouch, even with your newfound body. The fact is, despite all your treacheries and failures, I've allowed you to carry on this long because I took… a certain delight in watching you constantly fall from the pedestal that you've placed yourself on. But you've finally become tiresome. Predictable. You've hit rock bottom. However, there is still but one more thing I need from you.
  • After delivering at least six throughout the course of R1 and R2, Megatron is finally on the receiving end of this in Chapter 37, courtesy of Lelouch/Zero Prime, as he uses the Star Saber, combined with the power of the Primes, to deal a mortal blow to Megatron that purges him of his Dark Energon and Code.
    Megatron: No! I… I can't… I'm immortal…! My power… it cannot…
Lelouch/Zero Prime: All you've longed for is power. You've given up everything else for it. Your friends, your home, even those that were loyal to you after Cybertron's destruction… you threw it all away for the sake of your own desires! So many chances to turn back and atone, and you threw them all away too! And this is the result.
