Taking the Bullet in Fan Works.

Crossovers
  • The Many Dates of Danny Fenton: Danny takes a kryptonite missile that Skulker fired at Kara Kent, which doesn't hurt him, since he is not from Krypton.
  • The Night Unfurls: The end of Chapter 31 has Kyril taking a crossbow bolt for Celestine. Shot in the head by an assassin, he experienced his first death in the waking world. He's pissed.
  • In Of Quirks and Magic, Izuku takes a blade of spacial energy to the chest for Kaminari and subsequently collapses.
  • Oni Ga Shiku Series: Kurosawa attempts to shoot Akatani who just performed a Heel–Face Turn and betrayed him, but Izuku reflexively saves him by taking the bullet for him. Fortunately, his Pocket Protector saves his life, so he ends up in the hospital for his other injuries.
  • Thousand Shinji: During the Geofront Siege, an enemy squad shot at Shinji right when he got distracted and careless, and Misato leapt in the path of the bullets and shielded him with her body.

Code Geass

  • Rise of the Black King: While at a museum, Lelouch takes a bullet that Tara fired at Nunnally. After Tara is forced to flee, Lelouch ends up being taken to the hospital to be treated.

Danganronpa

  • Dangan Ronpa: Assassinating Friendship: To Pekoyama's utter horror, Kuzuryuu jumps in and takes a fatal blow to shield them. This also horrifies the attacker, as this breaks Shinguuji's streak of exclusively female victims, and he imagines his sister's spirit abandoning him in disgust.
  • Danganronpa 2/3 Redux: Return Unto Death:
    • When Monokuma demonstrates how the students' implants can be used for Electric Torture, Ibuki shoves Kaede out of the way and winds up as the example herself.
    • When Tenko enters an incorrect password on the computer they find in the Mastermind's lair, Rantaro gets shot with a spear gun while shielding them,
    • During Chapter 5's execution, Kirumi blocks the fatal blow aimed at Rantaro.

Danny Phantom

  • Resurrected Memories: One of these convinces Ember to give up her "Evil Plan" after witnessing Danny risking his life to shield a pair of civilians from a missile blast, including her alter ego Amberline Lain.

The DCU

  • In this fanart it's Batgirl who shields Supergirl.
  • In A Force of Four, Kara shields both Hippolyta and Fury from a heat beam barrage. The pain is unbearable even for Power Girl, but she stands her ground and takes it.
The three women surged forward again, wearing grim battle-faces that might have been those of Greeks in the Trojan War.
Before they had covered half the distance, all three felt the pain of searing heat along their bodies.
Power Girl halted, grabbed her two allies, and tossed them to the ground. Then she spread her body over the both of them and stretched her cape to its full extent, shielding them as best she could. "Stay down, you two," she warned.
"We've gotta fight ‘em!" wailed Fury.
"They'd... broil you like a hot dog," grated Kara. "Stay down, and I mean it!"
The three outlaws of Krypton were standing in a circle about Power Girl, sending six beams of heat from their eyes at her caped back. One Kryptonian could cause pain. Two could injure. Three could destroy.
But Hippolyta and Fury lacked the Kryptonian durability to withstand heat vision for a time. Without her protection, both women would soon burn to death.
Kara bit her lip to keep from screaming. The terrible beams seared her back like a grid of white-hot iron. That, despite her protective cape. There was only so much longer she could take it.
Her brain rushed to formulate an escape stratagem before the three of them could die.
But all she could really come up with right then was to lie there and take it.

The Devil Wears Prada

  • A Doll’s Life” opens when Andy is helping pick up Miranda’s daughters from school only for the girls to be confronted by Olivia, an angry ex-assistant of Miranda’s. Proclaiming that she will give Miranda the dolls she clearly prefers to actual people, Olivia attempts to curse the girls, only for Andy to step in between and be transformed into a Barbie-like doll herself.

ER

  • An fanfic had Doug doing this for the two people he loved most—girlfriend Carol and best friend Mark. Video footage of the incident shows that indeed, Carol would have been the one shot had he not pushed her and Mark out of the way.

Fire Emblem

  • In Golden Threads Tie Us, Lucina leaps into the path of a arrow aimed at Severa.
    "Severa!"
She was shoved aside. She grunted as she slid across the ground, gravel digging into her arm. She heard a sharp intake of breath, and pulled herself up.
Lucina's arm dangled next to her, and, more alarmingly, Falchion lay on the ground. An arrow had pierced her torso, and Severa felt the bottom of her stomach drop out when Lucina grabbed the shaft and pulled it out in one smooth motion with a sickening squelch.

Fullmetal Alchemist

  • The Planets takes place during wartime. Riza's Plot-Triggering Death occurs off-screen prior to the start of the fic. It's shown that she took several bullets from a sniper who was trying to hit Roy.

Harry Potter

  • In Daphne Greengrass and the Boy Who Lived, Daphne has done this for Harry in particular on various occasions, including revealing herself to Filch so that Harry won’t get in trouble for smuggling Norbert, intercepting a spell from Lockhart that de-boned her left arm when Lockhart tried to use it on Harry, and even saving Malfoy from Buckbeak (albeit just so that he can’t blame Hagrid for anything).

Kingdom Hearts

Mass Effect

  • In Another Realm, the protagonist Cieran has the job of taking the bullet repeatedly, most often to save his friends or his lover, Nynsi Shaaryak. He has power armour, but it remains outside the realm of Plot Armour, resulting in near-fatal injuries.

Miraculous Ladybug

My Hero Academia

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

    • During the Battle of Ponyville, Cup Cake takes the strike of a newborn changeling for her filly Pumpkin. Later, Crescendo attempts to do this for Rarity, but Spike jumps in front of them both.
    • Shortly thereafter, Chrysalis jumps in front of Shining Armor's final strike at Carapace- but it's played with in that she did it not simply to save him but to strip him and her surviving drones of their changeling forms with her death, after he drained her of love.
  • In Cutie Bloom, Applejack, who is angered that Apple Bloom ran away because of Diamond Tiara, chews out her father Filthy Rich for "raising a monster" and tries to buck him in the face. Fluttershy, who doesn't want her to lose her head, jumps in front of him to take the buck.

    • While at the Nation of Steel, Sasuke senses a trap and shoves Sakura out of the way, getting several cuts on his body that she could have gotten instead.
    • Noticing a giant fist coming out of the ground, Hinata pushes Naruto out of the way, resulting in her getting injured instead of him.
    • When Team 7 and Hinata are being attacked by rock clones of Kiba, Shino, and Kurenai, Kiba's rock clone tries to stab Hinata with its arm that has turned into a sharp rock. However, Kakashi pushes her out of the way and ends up being stabbed instead.
    • At one point, Evil Sasuke tries to attack Sasuke by using Chidori. Sasuke can't move, or else his enemy will hurt Sakura who is chained to a wall. However, Karin arrives in front of Sasuke to protect him and is the one to receive the attack. In a Call-Back to Sasuke doing something similar to Naruto during the Land of Waves arc, she says "I... I just moved."

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • The Gospel Of Malachel: When an assassination squad attempts to gun Terry down, security guard Thomas Vail pushes him aside and gets shot in the gut. Fortunately, he survives.
Vail's attention suddenly seemed to focus on something behind him. "Get down!" he yelled, giving Terry a violent push.
Terry heard a sharp crack and something whizzed by his ear; Vail doubled over, falling to the floor. The entire world seemed to slow around Terry as he fell and he desperately tried to remember everything he'd ever learned about martial arts. He rolled, turning his fall into a forward dive and he could see four men dressed entirely in black charge through the security gate, their guns already trained on those inside.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion: Genocide: When a death squad attempts to kill Rei, Gendo shields her with his body.
  • Shot Through the Heart: While Gendo is heading to the helicopter after he and Shinji visit Yui's grave, Shinji sees a red dot appear on Gendo's back. Realizing what is about to happen, Shinji pushes Gendo out of the way and gets shot through the chest. After Gendo leaves and Rei jumps out of the helicopter to protect Shinji, the assassin helps patch him up while Rei calls for medical help. Before leaving the assassin apologizes for what happened, revealing that he was hired to assassinate Gendo and did not intend for Shinji to get hurt.

One Piece

It doesn't but it does give her superpowers. Berrie is made an official fourth Powerpuff Girl and together they square off against an alien invader and its monster. The monster knocks the three main girls out so Berrie takes the brunt of the monster's beam to keep it from finishing them. It saved Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, but it also further weakened Berrie to where she eventually succumbed to the leukemia.

Rango

Sonic the Hedgehog

  • In the Dark Fic Prison Island Break, Sonic defeats Metal Sonic, but the robot tries to shoot him. Manic jumps to take three bullets for Sonic.
  • A Rose And A Thorn 4: Origins: During the Downfall of ARK chapter, the echidna-clone Midnight takes a missile from a GUN Mech for Mirage by tossing her into an adjacent hallway, and loses about half his body in the explosion. In the Epilogue you learn that he survived by crawling into a stasis tube. Word of God is that as the clone of an echidna killed by the god Chaos, Midnight is no longer fully mortal as the DNA the scientists retrieved was mutated.

Star Trek

  • A variation in Reality Is Fluid. In an Offscreen Moment of Awesome (Eleya, the viewpoint character, was on another deck at the time) Gaarra tackles a civilian scientist out of the way of an exploding EPS conduit and takes the full blast on his back, coming out with severe burns and shrapnel injuries. Still sorta fits here, as the conduit had exploded due to sabotage.
  • Another variant in The Wrong Reflection. In the midst of a big Space Battle, a Terran Empire Defiant-class ship tries to ram the USS Bajor. T'Var, Eleya's former operations officer and now the commander of an Ushaan-class starship, flies her ship in between and takes the ramming attack herself.
