Every chapter title has a reference to some book, movie, TV show, etc. that has something supernatural in the name, and that usually corresponds to creatures in the chapter. There are also several in-story references to other works of supernatural or extraterrestrial literature.

- Chapter 1's title is "Ghost Trick," named after the DS video game Ghost Trick.
- Chapter 2's title is "The Revenant," named after the movie The Revenant.
- Chapter 3's title is "Skeletons in the Closet," named after the movie Skeletons in the Closet.
- Chapters 4-6's titles are "I Dream of Jeannie (Parts 1-3)," named after the TV series I Dream of Jeannie.
- Chapter 7's title is "Men in Black," named after the movies Men in Black.
- Chapter 8's title is "The X Files," named after the TV series The X-Files.

- Adam and Xavier excitedly sum up Jacob's explanation of the events of chapters 1-3 to, "The X-Files was right all along!"
- Xavier offers Jacob a PewDiePie bro fist.
- Tiffany came up with her suggestion to capture the jinn from memories of Aladdin.
- Xavier corrects Adam's mistaken usage of the The More You Know rainbow.

- Agent Mann is surprised when Jacob does not get his referencing of Independence Day: Resurgence.
- Jacob quotes Tracer from Overwatch.Jacob: Do you ever get that feeling of déjà vu?
- Jacob calls Agent Mann, "Scully," both a Pun and a reference to The X-Files.
- Adam states that to his eyes (he doesn't have Clear Sight, meaning he gets tricked by glamours), Agent Mann looks like the twin of Daniel Craig.
