Shows with their own pages:

Individual examples:

  • Adventure Time: Princess Bubblegum and Marceline kissing in the Grand Finale. On the lips. Onscreen and uncut. In spite of what Olivia Olson said in 2014.
  • Amphibia: The entire last few minutes of True Colors, with Anne getting a Super Mode and Marcy, a 13 year old child, being Impaled with Extreme Prejudice.
  • Bojack Horseman:
    • Herb refusing to accept Bojack's apology in The Telescope. That was when people realized the show wouldn't be yet another adult animated sitcom where conflicts were resolved in 22 minutes.
    • Sarah Lynn dying of a drug overdose. Made even worse when it is revealed that Bojack waited 17 minutes before calling the hospital, meaning that Sarah could have very well been saved.
    • Eddie attempting a murder-suicide by lifting Bojack into the air and flying straight towards an airplane engine.
    • Bojack nearly killing Gina while in a drug induced rage. Even the normally clueless and cheerful Mr. Peanutbutter is perturbed.
  • Family Guy has Brian getting run over by a car and later succumbing to his wounds. Dampened by the fact that he is saved a few episodes later.
  • For those unfamiliar with the original source material, Omni-Man's brutal murder of the Guardians of the Globe at the end the first episode of Invincible (2021), partially since the show did not skimp on the Gorn. Especially as the rest of episode leading to this point made Mark's story about being a typical Origins Episode.
  • Final Space:
    • Avocato's death in the sixth episode of Season 1, especially as he just reunited with his son.
    • Earth (and Quinn) getting sucked into a black hole in the Season 1 finale.
    • Season 3 amped up the number of Shocking Moments:
      • After being skewered by Nightfall in the Season 2 premier, Lord Commander is back and healthy
      • The reveal that Avocato murdered Little Cato's parents - the king and queen of Ventrexia - under the orders of Lord Commander
      • Invictus possessing Gary's arm and using it to stab Fox in front of Ash
      • The reveal that there is a Titan incubating in the Earth's core. The heroes themselves react appropriately
      • Lord Commander successfully merging with the incubating Titan. He destroys Earth and the KVN Net as he emerges from the crust. He then follows this up by stabbing Bolo and ripping his head off.
      • The reveal that there are hundreds of Earth's floating around in Final Space... and each one of them is incubating a Titan
      • The final scene of the series shows the Big Bad, Invictus, breaking out of Final Space, giving the show a notorious Downer Ending
  • Kitbull: Some animated features and works for children do touch on animal abuse, but they usually only depict neglect onscreen, with violence being only implied or strictly off-screen. So the moment when we see the Gentle Giant pit bull being shoved outside by his owners, limp and covered in visibly bloody injuries, is one hell of a Gut Punch.
  • The Loud House: The end of "Family Bonding"! Basically, Lincoln thinks his neighbours are spies but initially you don't think much of it, since he's prone to making wild assumptions, especially if they involve sci-fi type stuff. Yet, in this episode, it turns out to be true.
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic:
  • Rick and Morty:
    • Rick and Morty abandoning their original dimension and hijacking another one after inadvertently turning all the people into Cronenberg monsters.
    • Morty killing Fart after all the effort and destruction he went through to get him to safety.
    • Tammy revealing herself to be a Galactic Federation Agent and gunning down Birdperson on their wedding day
    • The reveal that Rick cloned Beth and sent one or the other to space.
    • "Rickternal Friendshine of the Rickless Mort" reveals that Birdperson and Tammy had a child together. Rick knew about this beforehand, but Birdperson did not, and now the child is in prison for being the daughter of a Galactic terrorist.
    • "Rickmurai Jack", and how:
      • Evil Morty finally returns and his true plans of escaping the Central Finite Curve to find a multiverse where Rick isn't the smartest man alive are revealed.
      • Rick's fabricated backstory from Season 3 (mostly) is real, and he went on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge after the death of his Diane & Beth in search of the Rick that killed them, causing the deaths of many Ricks in the process.
      • Rick turns out to have helped in building the Citadel of Ricks - as a way to contain all the other Ricks after he defeated them, and also unsuccessfully try to find the Rick that killed his family.
      • The Citadel has been forcing versions of Beths & Jerries to get together to create Mortys and creating Morty clones.
      • The episode, and the season, ends with Rick & Morty stranded in space while Evil Morty breaks out of the Central Finite Curve.
  • The Simpsons: Bart attempting suicide in The Boys of Bummer, after being harassed by the people of Springfield for failing to catch a ball.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Mortis arc's high points of this include the first time Qui-Gon Jinn appears (played by Liam Neeson, no less!) in The Clone Wars, Ahsoka being corrupted to the Dark Side and fighting Anakin and Obi-Wan, and the sequence where the Son shows Anakin what he is destined to become. There are bonus points for the subtle notes of the Imperial March as a dark cloud in the shape of Darth Vader appears.
