"So tell me Gohan, how does it feel to once again be helpless in saving those you care for?"

Zamasu/Goku Black: Why yes Gohan. Can't you tell...? It's your beloved late Father- Goku. (Zamasu/Goku Black charges up an attack that destroys the surroundings)
Future Gohan: ...You bastard! You've incinerated the entire continent!

Much like the original franchise, many villains in the fan works of Akira Toriyama's famous series can be incredibly vile, be they original characters or ones from canon.

All spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

Having previously wiped out almost all of the Saiyan race out of fear of rebellion, Frieza later finds out that Raditz purged everybody on Earth and forcibly brought Goku to the organization. Viewing Goku as an opportunity to tear down Vegeta's intended rebellion before it starts, Frieza tricks Goku into purging an innocent alien race before agreeing to train Goku for the sake of having him kill Raditz, repeatedly bringing Goku to near death in the process. If Frieza has no interest in ruling a particular conquered planet and believes it won't net him a good price, he destroys it entirely. Among these many annihilated planets is the Planet of the Saiyans. During the story, Frieza goes to Namek to come after Vegeta, ordering his troops to kill everyone in the village and planning to take Gine, Goku's mother. When his troops fail, Frieza kills one of them to force the others to continue fighting. He gets into a fight with Gine and overpowers her, delivering a brutal No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
    • What If Bardock Convinced The Saiyans? (link): Frieza is the ruler of the Frieza Force who despises the Saiyan race. Attempting to eradicate the Saiyan race, Frieza blows up their home planet, shooting down any escape pods that fly in his direction. Upon finding out that there are survivors of his attack, Frieza tasks Nappa with finding them so that he can finish what he started. When Nappa and Zarbon fail to defend one of Frieza's planets from a Saiyan attack, Frieza kills Zarbon for his failure. Frieza then begins to repeatedly mortally wound Nappa in order to trigger his Zenkai Boosts so that he will get stronger, as well as using him to vent his anger over his falling empire. After Nappa eventually breaks from this, he tasks the Saiyan to guard another planet where he slaughters half of the attacking force. When Nappa breaks free from Frieza's control thanks to Vegeta, Frieza coldly executes Nappa due to having no more use for him.
    • What If Zamasu Did Nothing Wrong? (link): Goku Black and Future Zamasu from an Alternate Timeline invade the timeline of the Present Zamasu, where they are disgusted that a version of themselves had abandoned the "Zero Mortals Plan" and tried to help the mortals become civilized. They then travel to Barbari where they decide to punish Present Zamasu by "culling [his] pets", proceeding to wipe out all life on the planet that Zamasu had helped, choosing this place to begin their genocide of all mortals in the entire multiverse. When opposed by Present Zamasu and Decraf, Goku Black and Future Zamasu offers this Zamasu a We Can Rule Together scenario, and when that is rejected attempt to murder Present Zamasu and Decraf for daring to resist.
    • What If Frieza Turned Good? (link): Trogen is the third son of King Cold, created after the latter deemed his first two sons to be failures. Proving himself to be an impulsive psychopath, Trogen murders his father in front of Cooler for taking too long to find Frieza. When it's believed that Frieza is on the planet Yardrat, Trogen goes against the plan to land and search for his brother and instead gleefully blows the entire planet up. Taking over his father's mantle, Trogen becomes a cruel and despotic ruler who lets his empire fall to ruins. Learning that Frieza is now on Earth, Trogen attempts to kill Vegeta for outliving his usefulness and chains Cooler up without sustenance. On Earth, he orders his men to kill all of the Z Fighters, but after years of abuse, they refuse. In response, Trogen uses his eye beams to bisect his entire present army, numbering in the thousands. • Perfect Future (link): The Future incarnation of Cell becomes far more of a threat than his canon counterpart. Having absorbed thousands of civilians who survived the rampages of Future 17 and 18 prior to the story, Cell finds out about Majin Buu from the Supreme Kai. After achieving his Perfect Form, Cell goes to Babidi, offering to help revive Majin Buu in exchange for having the opportunity to fight it, seeking a challenge. Cell creates several Cell Juniors to launch an attack on New Namek, intending to use the Namekian Dragon Balls to speed up Buu's revival. When Future Trunks arrives to stop him, Cell kills one of his own spawn due to them struggling against Future Trunks, and when he himself is defeated by Trunks, Cell destroys all of New Namek after regenerating. To spite Trunks, Cell tracks down and murders Bulma, mocking Trunks upon returning to Earth. Narrowly escaping death after Buu absorbs Trunks to power up, Cell invades a planet owned by Cooler, and has his Cell Juniors torture resident and soldier alike to draw Cooler out. Cell forces all members of the organization to come to Earth to help him kill Buu under threat of death, and after Buu is finally killed, Cell wipes out all of Earth's survivors and Cooler's men by destroying the planet. After appreciating the planet's destruction, Cell goes on to terrorize the rest of the universe.
  • Rage: Cell, after being resurrected by Beerus in order to awaken Gohan's hidden potential, kidnaps the latter's wife and daughter in order to lure Gohan into a fight. Cell strangles Videl in front of Gohan before vaporising the infant Pan just to spite Gohan. During the battle with the Z-Fighters, Cell constantly mocks them about killing Videl and Pan, taking his time to remind Gohan of the people he couldn't save during the Cell Games, before trying twice to blow up Earth.
  • Rise (link): Cell, much like in canon, creates several Cell Jrs to torture the Z-Fighters to goad Gohan, into unleashing his true power and kills Android 16 right in front of Gohan. When Goku attempts to intervene, Cell makes Goku watch his son get killed, and later mocks Goku for causing Gohan's death. Upon regenerating after Vegeta seemingly kills him, Cell attempts to wipe out the solar system in one attack, intending to terrorize the rest of the universe afterwards.
  • What If COOLER Was CANON? (link): Cooler, Frieza's older brother, is imagined here as a recurring threat to the Z-Fighters throughout their adventures. When Cooler was passed over by King Cold for Emperor in favor of Frieza, Cooler struck out on his own and created his own empire by enslaving and destroying planets. When he hears of the Dragon Balls on Namek, Cooler invades the planet, murders Frieza, and tries to steal the Dragon Balls; upon learning they are useless, Cooler destroys Namek and its population on a whim. Next targeting Earth, Cooler wipes out cities and enslaves millions of humans to force them to help him search for Earth's Dragon Balls, and he kills Gohan when the boy comes against him. Cooler would return alongside a resurrected Frieza multiple times in the future, when they would destroy multiple planets in sparring matches; try to destroy Earth out of spite; and doom multiple universes to destruction to obtain the Super Dragon Balls for themselves.
