Concern: Duplicate Trope
Ace Of Spades is a starving trope that may be better merged into Playing Card Motifs.

Ace of Spades by itself as a bad omen (correct usage) 12/ 39
- Bakuten Shoot Beyblade Foreshadowing:
- In S1E38, Ralf draws the Ace Of Spades. Knowing that he views a beybattle the same as a true battle with the defeating party "dying in spirit", things weren't looking good for him.
- Characters.Halo UNSC Marines And ODST Sgt. John Forge: Ace Of Spades: Has an Ace of Spades playing card strapped to his left pauldron as a memento of his daughter. It symbolizes him being the best Marine aboard the Spirit of Fire, spoiler:and foreshadows his Heroic Sacrifice.
- Characters.Ruby Quest Ace: Ace Of Spades: Ace (whose signature is a single spade symbol) is the main "tangible" antagonist, having completely succumbed to the Eldritch Abomination's control months ago.
- Trouble for Two: Whoever draws the Ace of Spades in the suicide club card draw is the person who dies. Whoever draws the ace of clubs has to go along as the executioner.
- A Line to Kill: The night before he's murdered Charles le Mesurier finds an Ace of Spades on his car windshield. He thinks it's lucky but Anthony knows it's "the death card." The use of a playing card also turns out to be a Chekhov's Gun as the motive for the murder relates to le Mesurier being the owner of a gambling website.
- Recap.I Love Lucy S 1 E 4 Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her: Ethel has learned to tell fortunes with playing cards. She has Lucy draw two cards, only to become stricken with fright when she sees them. When Lucy demands to know what they mean, Ethel explains that the Queen of Hearts represents her and the Ace of Spades is death. This fuels Lucy's mistaken belief throughout the episode that Ricky is attempting to kill her.
- Hearts (the card game): By itself its not a penalty card, but it is a liability, because whoever plays it (or the King of Spades) on a spade-led trick is almost certain to win the dreaded Queen of Spades card (the exception is when it's the last card played and the Queen isn't out). This means the player has to avoid playing these two cards at all costs, until they can safely get rid of them. A weak example, because it's troping the rules of a card game, but it does talk about the Ace of Spades being a bad sign.
- Carmen: The titular character draws spades during a fortune-telling game which she believes foretells her death. Sure enough, her former lover Don Jose kills her in a jealous rage. I'm almost tempted to say this is closer to Tarot Troubles than anything else if we choose to disambig.
- Call of Juarez: Gunslinger: John Wesley Hardin has two of this card in his hat, and the Nugget of Truth that relates to him is also an Ace of Spades. Fitting as the game outright refers to him as The Ace when it comes to the gunslingers of the Wild West. His Boss Subtitles also features him shooting through one.
- Bananaman: In "Harbour of Lost Ships", Bananaman picks a card from General Blight. He gets the ace of spades, or the dead man's card, but as the viewers can see, all of Blight's cards are the exact same. He is then forced to Walk the Plank.
- Pinocchio: Honest John tricks Pinocchio into going to the dangerous Pleasure Island by giving him his "ticket", an Ace of Spades card.
- WhateleyUniverse.Tropes A To I: In Silver Ghost, Golden Angel (Part 3), used by Cardsharp:The card was the Ace of Spades, the Death Card. Cardsharp held before him, like a priest presenting a crucifix to a vampire. FEAR, mortal terror, primordial panic radiated out from the card, filling Kirk's mind with dread.
Ace of Spades used as part of Playing Card Motifs 10/ 39
- Playing Card Motifs:
- The Ace Of Spades is the highest-ranking card, popularly known as the "card of death." Someone using this motif will likely be highly competent in battle. Alternately, its appearance may be foreshadowing danger ahead.
- Ace Of Spades is another card/subtrope that symbolizes death specifically.
- The first season of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War assigned individual cards to the main characters. Kaguya and Shirogane share the Ace of Hearts, Ishigami is the Ace Of Spades, and Fujiwara is the Joker.
- Gambling imagery sees frequent use in Baccano!, being as The Mafia and the camorra play significant roles in the series. Playing card imagery is no exception: the opening credits sequence of the anime styles the kooky thief duo Isaac and Miria as the Joker, and indeed they have a tendency to shake up any situation they unwittingly wander into. The Dreaded killer-for-hire Claire Stanfield, meanwhile, is sometimes associated with the Ace Of Spades in its capacity as the "death card."
- Motörhead's 1980 single Ace Of Spades, from the album of the same name. Guess what it's about.
- Characters.Born To Be Wilde The Counts Court Simon Van Dal: The Ace: An elite mercenary who has decades of combat experience and is truly frightening in battle, tossing aside anyone in his way with little effort. He is given the codename Ace of Spades to highlight this. Part of Playing Card Motifs in this faction.
- Characters.Buster Girls: Raine Albion Buster Violet: Ace Of Spades: During the fight with Illumiere she is turned into the Ace of Spades, Illumiere’s strongest card servant. This villain uses Playing Card Motifs.
- Characters.Fallout New Vegas New California 10 of Spades: New Meat: Originally wanted to be called the Ace Of Spades, but Gorobets cited his complete lack of combat experience, so he has to settle for 10 of Spades and plans to work his way up the ladder. While he thinks the Jack of Spades will be an improvement, he says he will probably skip over the Queen of Spades.
- Kaguya-sama: Love Is War - Yu Ishigami: Ace Of Spades: The anime assigned all the members of the student council a Playing Card Motif. Naturally, Ishigami -who spent most of the earlier chapters afraid that Kaguya was trying to kill him- was assigned the Ace of Spades.
- Kirby - Other Major Antagonists The Master Crown: Playing Card Motifs: The leaves it shoots when it transforms into a Gem Apple tree-like monster are shaped like the ace of spades, fitting for a crown that has engineered the end of many countries and even entire worlds.
- Characters.Nobody Ever Told Me Jack Spades: Playing Card Motifs: The Jack is the lowest tier of the face cards, being second to the Queen (Red Queen in his case). He has an Ace Of Spades symbol on his mask, which symbolizes death and danger, and fits his character as one of the Court’s hatchet men.
- Characters.Tokyo Mew Mew New: The OP and ED give card suit themes to the girls. Mew Ichigo is Ace of Hearts, Mew Mint is Ace Of Spades, Mew Lettuce is Ace of Clubs, and Mew Pudding is Ace of Diamonds. Mew Zakuro is the odd one out, as a representation of the Joker card.
- Characters.Undertale Yellow Ace: Subverted for the most part: aside from the name and association with spades, he isn't really any more dangerous than any of the other members of the Feisty Five. Character is a Death Dealer, so Playing Card Motifs would be a valid trope.
- Kaguya-sama: Love Is War: The anime assigned individual cards to the starting members of the student council. Kaguya and Shirogane share the Ace of Hearts, Ishigami is the Ace Of Spades, and Fujiwara is the Joker.
Aces of Spades exist (8/39)
- Five-Second Foreshadowing: Toy Story 2:
- The above is crosswicked on Toy Story 2.
- Characters.Angry Birds Corporal Pig: Ace Of Spades: He has one tucked in his helmet.
- Characters.Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 Single Player Shadow Company: Ace Of Spades: Their logo is this with a chess rook piece in the middle.
- Funny.Bone: When the story begins, one late afternoon, Big Johnson Bone has just been chased out of town for cheating at cards, though he claims to be innocent. He still brought his winning, a talking monkey named Mr. Pip, who asks him why he was caught with an Ace Of Spades up his sleeve if he wasn't cheating. Big Johnson responds with an incredibly long and convoluted tall tale which takes all evening and all night to tell, but which somehow still does end with an explanation (or an excuse) for why he just happened to be carrying an ace of spades up his sleeve. By then, his mule and Mr. Pip have fallen asleep, much to Big Johnson's annoyance.
- JustForFun.Shadow Fox: Villain in a White Suit: The villainous Decker Card, as the only part of his suit that's not completely white is the face-mask, which sports the Ace Of Spades on it.
- Animal Farm: The initially cordial man-pig dinner party at the end ends in chaos when during a game of cards, Napoleon and Mr. Pilkington simultaneously play an ace of spades. Most critics view this as Orwell's interpretation of the Tehran Conference, ostensibly meant to establish a unified front among the allies but in actuality setting up the future conflict between the Soviet Union and the West. Allohistorical Allusion is probably a better fit for this example.
- Motörhead: It's the title of their most famous song. The song itself is Playing Card Motifs, but this is a ZCE.
