Six years have passed since the events of the Island of the Crimson Claws, and the Brotherhood of the Tofu has grown up and went on with their lives: Yugo and Adamai are still by Alibert, helping him raising Chibi, while Sadlygrove and Eva had two children, Elely and Flopin.

One day, a mysterious blue bird reaches them, revealing himself to be Otomai, the legendary Feca demigod and Alchemist, who delivers a message on behalf of princess Amalia: the Sadida Kingdom is facing the greatest crisis since its foundation, Ogrest' latest cry fit is raising the oceans and threatening to submerge the entire kingdom. The only hope of safety however, is equally grim, as Count Harebourg, lord of the frozen island of Frigost, is willing to lend a solution with his superior technology and by offering two of the Eliatrope Dofus, in exchange for the hand of Amalia.

Despite Yugo's disapproval, the Sadida Princess is willing to go along with the deal to ensure the survival of her people, but something far more sinister than Harebourg's infatuation is going on in the icy Frigost, and a mysterious group called "the Siblings" is scheming in the shadows. Meanwhile, Adamai, Otomai and Joris go to the ruined Kingdom of Winds to recover the two Eliatrope Dofus supposedly located there.

Tropes:

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Despite everything he did and intended to do, Amalia does seem legitimately sad when she defeats Harebourg, recognizing he does love her and not stopping him from teleporting away.
  • All There in the Manual: If there's a problem with the OVA is that it leaves many things that happened in the six years between the end of Season 2 and and the start of the OVA unexplained, which forces you to read the Manga to learn some of the things that happened during this series, which may leave some viewer confused.
  • Arc Villain: Count Harebourg, Xelor lord of Frigost and secretly member of the Siblings.
  • Arranged Marriage: Amalia assures she is fine with it anyway.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: On their way to Frigost on Ruel's train, the group awakens a mountain-sized Crackler who then tries to crush them as they escape him.
  • Battle Aura: When Sadlygrove gets pissed at the sight of Elely and Flopin about to be killed, he starts glowing with a orange light as he shatters his ice prison and goes on the attack. A sharp-eyed viewer will note it's nearly identical to the Battle Aura Goultard showed off when he tapped into the Iop God's power.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Sadlygrove is able to shatter Harebourg's magical ice, which was claimed at several points to be unbreakable by normal means.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Flopin, Elely and Kamasutar Jr. barging on the platform where the heroes are taken prisoners to save them.
    • Yugo storming the chapel to stop the wedding between Harebourg and Amalia, revealing the truth on the latter.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Count Harebourg seems affable and charming, extremely popular with his population (who previously hated him for causing the freezing on the island). He's also extremely smug, rubs Yugo's status as a failure and peopleless king in his face and fully intends to force Yugo to make the Eliatrope Dofus work at all costs. When the heroes uncover his plans he angrily berates them for betraying him, even if he betrayed them first.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Darkness makes the mistake of mocking and belittling his own master Harebourg... who nearly freezes him solid before telling him to behave.
  • Butt-Monkey: Otomai in his bird form is a magnet for incidents, which includes being attacked by Grougaloragran and shot down by Flopin while in midflight.
  • Call-Back: When the group first meet Harebourg, Yugo tells him to show them his face, claiming that he reminds him too much of "another Xelor" (Nox).
  • The Cameo:
    • Bordegann and Alia can be seen eating at Alibert's inn.
    • The ending shot also features Kerubim Crispin and Achtam from Dofus: Kerub's Bazaar.
  • Collapsible Helmet: Count Harebourg's Xelor mask folds open or closes automatically when he wishes so, along with a block of ice encasing it that he removes or forms with his cold powers.
  • Combined Energy Attack: When the rest of the Brotherhood interrupt Harebourg's attempt to finish off Yugo, they combine Ruel's shovel, Dally's earth-breaking strike, and Eva's energy arrow into an attack powerful enough to counter Harebourg's ice beam.
  • Darker and Edgier: The OVA is much more serious, somber and dark than the standard series.
  • Demonic Possession: Elely briefly grabs Rubilax and asks him to empower her to save her parents. Rubilax is willing to make an exception for this time only, resulting in an utterly destructive Pint-Sized Powerhouse.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Amalia decides to go along with the wedding proposed by Harebourg, but it's clear that she's only doing it for the sake of saving her kingdom from complete annihilation. She even breaks down crying when confronted by Eva on it in her room.
  • Disney Villain Death: Darkness is bullrushed by Sadlygrove and sent falling towards a blazing furnace. Good riddance.
  • The Dragon: Darkness, the boss of Harebourg's underlings and his main enforcer.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In the scene where Harebourg is talking to the other Siblings through the mirrors we see silhouettes of Ush and Lady Echo... and a screen with the silhouette of two people/a two-headed person who doesn't seem to correspond to any known member of the Silblings. A writer later revealed that they were meant to be the Grimalkin Twins from Dofus.
  • Fatal Flaw: In a way, Harebourg's choice of putting his country's interests before the Brotherhood he serves and his obsessive "love" for Amalia are the two main flaws that lead to his defeat (he's seemingly reluctant to defend himself when Amalia joins the fight) and fall from grace.
  • Gray Rain of Depression: The entire Sadida Kingdom is under one, not helped by the rising waters threatening to swallow the land.
  • Heroic Bastard: Dally and Eva's child were born before their parents actually married, making them this.
  • An Ice Person: Harebourg's magic revolves around the use of ice and frost, rather than time like Nox. He can use his ice magic to cover people in unbreakable ice to imprison them, though he doesn't completely covers them in ice.
  • Lack of Empathy: Harebourg is willing to do anything for Frigost, but has nothing but disdain and contempt for all the other kingdoms of the World of Twelve, claiming that they never did anything for him, making an exception to the Sadida kingdom for the sake of his object of lust, and even then he secretly plans to use the wood reserves of the Sadida to fuel the machines of Frigost to turn both realms in floating islands.
  • Love Confession: Another crux with the wedding is the fact that Yugo's feeling for Amalia are growing, along with the painful consciousness that he still has a child's body while she matured. After rescuing her from Harebourg though, he still manages to confess a little.
Yugo: I've always wanted to save a princess. [smiles]
  • MacGuffin: The Six Eliatrope Dofus are considered the key to save the Sadida Kingdom from sinking... but they're currently lost, and two of them are in the hands of Count Harebourg, who offers them in exchange for Amalia's hand (and still wants to force Yugo to make them work to power up his island).
  • The Man Behind the Man: The Sibling/The Brotherhood of the Forgotten is this to Count Harebourg.
  • Moral Myopia: The Count sees nothing wrong with letting other countries suffers for the sake of his own. He also set up a trap for the heroes under the pretense of helping them from the very beginning, yet he becomes livid and accuses them of treason when they finally turn on him.
  • Noodle Incident: Joris mentions that Count Harebourg is their "long-date enemy", though we never learn why or when they clashed.
  • Oh, Crap!: Flame does one when, after shooting Kamasutar, he ends up confronted by a pissed-off Ruel, who has just fused with Kamasutar.
  • Papa Wolf: When Dally sees Darkness about to throw his children from the platform into the fire, he becomes so furious he breaks through the ice, showing a golden aura, and rescues them.
  • Pretty in Mink: While in Frigost, Amalia wears a massive white fur cape which covers her entire body.
  • Quirky Miniboss Squad: Count Harebourg relies on five, elemental-themed Roublards Color-Coded for Your Convenience named Darkness, Flame, Drop, Leaf and Cloud. They mostly serve as his enforcers and a sign that his façade as a charming and polite aristocrat is, in fact, a façade.
  • Red Right Hand: Harebourg is actually handsome under his helmet... except for the perfectly circular, glowing lens taking the place of his right eye.
  • The Reveal: Despite his promise, Harebourg plans to force Yugo to activate the Eliatrope Dofus in his possession to fuel the project to turn Frigost and the Sadida Kingdom in floating continents, and is willing to burn the Sadida forests as an alternative source of fuel. Also, at the very end, it's revealed that Joris has been captured by Harebourg and frozen solid alongside Kerubim and Achtam, which means that the Joris who went with Otomai and Ad to the Kingdom of Winds is an impostor.
  • She's All Grown Up: Compared to the specials, Amalia has grown into a beautiful lady and is now the tallest member of the Brotherhood.
  • Smug Super: Count Harebourg appears to be a polite and charming nobleman with the best interest of his people in mind, but his hidden disdain for everything that's not Amalia or Frigost becomes evident as he speaks, or when he belittles Yugo for being a King without a country or a people. He's also an incredibly powerful Xelor demigod who hands Yugo his ass once he gets sufficiently pissed off at Yugo crashing his wedding.
  • Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace: Yugo storms in the chapel when this line is spoken.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Count Harebourg is genuinely attracted by Amalia, but the creepy part comes in when it's revealed that said attraction came from watching the records of the Brotherhood deeds over and over again, which means that his "love" is the fruit of the fascination of a several-centuries old man coveting a much younger girl.
  • Sword and Gun: Harebourg's bodyguards mostly employ either pistols or blades, while Darkness has a gun alongside a two-handed saber.
  • Took a Level in Badass:
    • Yugo's powers have grown, and he can now open more portals simultaneously.
    • Ruel is now able to merge with a grown-up Kamasutar Jr., resulting in a powerful Beast Man with tusks and giant claws.
    • Amalia's powers have strengthened, to the point that she's the one who actually wounds Harebourg (though the latter was reluctant to fight her back).
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Armand is back to being an unlikable jerk, though apparently the stress from risking to lose his entire kingdom is talking.
  • Town with a Dark Secret: The source of Frigost current status is fueled by Nox's technology, and Harebourg is willing to either use the Sadida Trees or force Yugo to use the Dofus to keep his country running.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Harebourg becomes more violent and unhinged when Yugo confronts him in the chapel and reveals the truth, with Amalia joining the battle.
  • Villainous Rescue: When the Brotherhood risks to fall in the giant crag surrounding Frigost, the Count uses his ice powers to save them and make them reach the island safely.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Despite his actions and motives, the Frigostians hail their Count as a hero, to the point that they openly get into Yugo's way when he crashes the wedding.
  • Wham Shot:
    • First, the ice screens containing Nox's masks and equipment, revealing that Harebourg used his technology to improve his.
    • At the end, the heroes sees ice coffins containing Kerubim, Achtam... and Joris, revealing that the one with Ad and Otomai is an impostor.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Darkness and his minions have no qualms fighting, hurting or even burning young children alive.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: The people of Frigost pull this on Yugo when he barges the church to stop the wedding: he just uses his portal to send them all outside, though doing so fatigues him.
