Original air date: 9/26/2003 (produced in 2002)

Episode number: 36a

Fed up with so much noise breaking his Eiffel tower model, Timmy wishes everything would be quiet, turning everything into a mostly No-Dialogue Episode. But when a meteor threatens to hit Dimmsdale, Timmy must find a way to wish the sound back.

This episode provides examples of:

  • An Aesop:
    • It's important to get used to noise.
    • Just because you lost to a game doesn't mean you should blame someone for it, and winning isn't everything.
  • Aside Glance: Cosmo gives a wink to the audience twice.
  • Blatant Lies: At the end of the episode, Mr. Turner claims the charade trophies didn't mean anything to him anyway. He ends up exploding with rage when he finds out Dinkelberg melted them down into a solid gold toilet seat.
  • Brick Joke: When there is no sound, Timmy puts a CD of loud music in big stereo in his house on full volume, as he can’t hear it. When the meteor is about to hit Dimmsdale, Mr. and Mrs. Turner huddle in front of it then the sound returns, and the loud music startles them.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The charades game is what Timmy uses to get Cosmo and Wanda to unwish the wish and bring the sound back.
  • Disaster Dominoes: At one point, Timmy causes a chain reaction that knocks over and breaks a contrived row of highly valuable objects his parents own.
  • Dramatic Irony: At the end of the episode, after Timmy stopped the meteor by charading the sound back, his father apologizes for snapping at him earlier, stating it's not like their lives depended on the game.
  • Epic Fail: Timmy is quite awful at charades, and easily gives the Dinklebergs a victory in just 1.25 seconds.
Mr. Turner: (waves his arms wildly) This is not a bulldozer! (runs with his hands at his chest while leaning backward) This is not a fudgesicle! (pretending to row a boat) And how is this Ghostbusters II?!
  • Fire Hose Cannon: To get Timmy's attention and warn him about the meteor, Cosmo and Wanda summon a firetruck and spray Timmy with the hose.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Somehow, Cosmo was able to get the word "Sound" from Timmy holding up a taco. Lampshaded by the resulting poof cloud having a question mark.
  • Ironic Echo Cut:
Mr. Turner: Now, let's show the Dinklebergs how we Turners are the best charades players ever!
    [1.25 seconds later]
Mr. Turner: (to Timmy) You are the worst charades player ever!!!
  • Jump Scare: Timmy's parents were holding onto each other waiting for the meteor to impact, but when sound returned they got startled by the stereo behind them that's been left on with the volume all the way up.
  • Model Planning: When Cosmo doesn't understand the danger of the meteor, Wanda uses Timmy's block set to create a model of Dimmsdale, followed by one of the meteor smashing into it. Unfortunately, when Cosmo tries to convey it to Timmy, he gets it backwards with the model smashing into the meteor.
  • No-Dialogue Episode: The middle of the episode becomes this when Timmy wishes everything would be quiet.
  • No Indoor Voice: The "stop yelling" exchange in Timmy's bedroom, culminating in him wishing everything was silent.
  • Overly Long Gag: The "stop yelling at me" exchange between Timmy and Wanda, with Cosmo cutting in and ending it with Blah, Blah, Blah. This leads to Timmy having a Rage Breaking Point and wishing the whole world was silent.
  • Running Gag:
    • Someone getting furious, followed by them screaming in rage and causing an explosion that blows their clothes off.
      • The final time this happens is at the end of the episode where, after Timmy finally finished his Eiffel Tower model, Mr. Turner causes it to collapse again, rendering Timmy's success at finally completing it All for Nothing. Cue Timmy finally snapping as his Rage Breaking Point is hit, his face turns red, and he lets off a furious scream.
      Cosmo: INCOMING!!!
(After Timmy blows and things calm down, Timmy is shown to still be shaking with fury with an angry scowl on his face, clenched fists, and hunched back, minus his clothes.)
      Wanda: Like father, like son.
    • Someone gets surprised, then they drink their coffee and spit it in someone else's face.
      • Cosmo does this one more time near the end of the episode, earning some annoyed Death Glare looks from Timmy and Wanda.
    • During the charade game, Cosmo keeps guessing taco. Timmy ends up using this to help Cosmo and Wanda get the final word.
  • Serious Business: As a charades' champion, Mr. Turner takes the game very seriously.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Seeing the approaching meteor about to hit Dimmsdale, nearly everyone flees.
  • Underwear Flag: A variation. Timmy raises Francis the Bully on a flagpole by stringing his underpants and having a hungry dog help raise him. The silent screams causes him to lose all his clothes.
  • Wedgie: Francis does this to Chester and A.J. Since he can't hear anything, he does it so hard that they explode out of their clothes. Timmy gets even by tying Francis's underwear to a dog and having him pulled up a flagpole.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: When the meteor is about to hit Dimmsdale, Mr. Crocker sees Cosmo and Wanda out in the open, and tries to expose them. However, as everybody is too busy panicking about the meteor and there is no sound no one pays attention to Mr. Crocker.
