Recap / Supermarioglitchy4s Super Mario 64 Bloopers The Corn Trip

Go To

With broccoli eclipsing corn in popularity, Rob, desperate to make corn trending again, takes Bob with him on an urgent corn delivery.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: A throwaway line from Bob implies that he has those, which could possibly be an explanation to his personality.
Bob: One day you're on the top of the world eating corn. The next day you lose everything and no one loves you (sadly) ...just like my parents.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Rob and Bob take center stage for this one.
  • Advertised Extra: Mario appears on the thumbnail, but doesn't actually appear until the end of the episode. The video later gained an updated thumbnail, and Mario appears in that one too!
  • All for Nothing: Mario is revealed to be the client to whom Bob and Rob were making the delivery, but he wanted SPAGHETTI, not corn. Hearing this, Rob explodes.
  • Ass Shove: An unfortunate gas station cashier (Beedle) ends up with head in the toilet after revealing that the store threw out their corn, while offering Rob broccoli to eat instead. Rob also shoves a cob of corn up the cashier's ass for good measure.
  • Berserk Button: Broccoli is this for Rob, as the conflict in episode stems from corn going out of season due to the public preferring broccoli instead. It gets to the point where he's willing to ram a broccoli-toting truck off the road because of it. Not to mention what he does to Beedle...
  • Big "NO!": Bob screams a JonTron-style "No" when he finds that there's five hours left before they make it and his Switch is dead.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: While it looks like Rob and Bob evade the bear police, the police get the last laugh by stealing Rob's corn truck and selling it to the casino managers.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Bob is shown playing games on his Nintendo Switch during the delivery. Said games hail from "SMG4 Expands His Brain", namely "Mario Sits On the Couch" (or rather, it's sequel) and "Shrek Generations".
    • Like in "Wild Wild Mario" and "Mario and Detective Pikachu", Luigi states that he has numerous jobs that allow him to pay for Mario's damages. In this episode specifically, he works as a casino employee and reveals that he works TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE jobs in total.
  • Captain Ersatz: One of the games at the casino is Fruit Samurai, an obvious parody of Fruit Ninja, right down to sharing the same music.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: By the bear police. While committing a hit-and-run is definitely not a good thing to do, using a rocket launcher to stop Bob and Rob from fleeing is overkill.
  • Heroic BSoD: Rob actually breaks down sobbing when he fails to win the Fruit Samurai game and Luigi sadly informs him that each person has only one chance.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While Bob does do Jerkass things in the episode and ends up wanting to bail on the trip not being fun anymore, he does tell Rob that he joined the delivery trip because he wanted to hang out with Rob. Considering how Bob usually is (even with Character Development), this says a lot.
  • Mythology Gag: Luigi working in a casino is a reference to the DS remake of Super Mario 64, complete with the same uniform.
  • Road Trip Plot: The episode in its entirety.
  • Stealth Pun: Bob addresses the bear police as "the fuzz." Think about that for a second.
  • True Companions: While their friendship hits a few bumps throughout the episode, Bob understands in the end how important the corn delivery is for Rob, and beats the "Fruit Samurai" game for him in order for them to finish the delivery once and for all.
  • Your Head Asplode: Rob's reaction to finding out Mario ordered spaghetti, not corn, meaning their entire trip was a waste of time.
