Chum Bucket Supreme

Original air date: 7/19/2009 (produced in 2008)

Plankton hires Patrick to create advertising slogans for the Chum Bucket.

"Chum Bucket Supreme" contains examples of:

  • Accidental Public Confession: While telling Patrick that he thinks his customers are the "dumbest of the dumb", Plankton accidentally speaks into the microphone that he was using to transmit the sounds of his cash register.
  • Big, Stupid Doodoo-Head: Plankton calls his customers "doodoo dunderheads", which the ice hockey players took extreme offense by.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When the Chum is Fum logo loses its luster, Plankton shows Patrick a graph that displays a line going into a toilet.
Patrick: I think I see the problem. Your potty has a shocky thing in it.
    • Then there's this exchange between Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob:
Mr. Krabs: SpongeBob, I'm afraid our worst fears have been realized.
SpongeBob: Ah! Goofy Goober is going non-dairy?
  • Door Dumb: One of the miniature Patricks tries to push open a pull door so they can escape the burning room. The others aren't any better, telling him to push harder.
  • Ghost in the Machine: While Patrick is trying to read Plankton's sign, it shows the inside of his brain with miniature Patricks trying to escape from the burning building.
  • Glad I Thought of It:
Karen: Well, why don't you do what all good business owners do?
    Plankton: What would that be?
Karen: Advertise your product, of course.
Plankton: Advertising? I can't believe it took me so long to come up with this.
  • Here We Go Again!: After the Chum Bucket loses all its customers and Patrick quits. The Krusty Krab has a banner that reads "Krabby Patties are Fum" thanks to Patrick working there now.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Plankton hooks his cash register up to a microphone so he can gloat to Mr. Krabs about how much money he's making. He later ends up invoking the wrath of his customers when he accidentally speaks into the microphone when insulting them.
  • Moose and Maple Syrup: One of the hockey players speaks like this.
"What was that part about doodoo dunderheads, eh?"
  • Our Slogan Is Terrible: Plankton's first attempt at a slogan: "Chum is Metabolic Fuel". This only confuses Patrick, who changes it to "Chum is Fum".
  • Series Continuity Error: Plankton claims to not know who Patrick is despite having hired him in "The Fry Cook Games".
  • Shaking the Rump: Plankton does a butt-wiggling victory dance when he comes up with his first attempt at a slogan, "Chum is Metabolic Fuel".
  • Spoonerism: After the "Chum is Fum" slogan starts to get old, it is changed to "Fum is Chum".
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Plankton delivers one to Patrick, leading to Accidental Public Confession:
Plankton: Check? You want money for those stupid catchphrases? Anybody can sell to my idiot customers. They're buffoons! Morons! They'll buy anything I sell them. They're the dumbest of the dumb! The stupidest of the stupid! They're dummies, dweebs and doodoo dunderheads! I can keep that rabble right where I want 'em!
Hockey Player: What was that about doodoo dunderheads, eh?
  • Title Drop: "Chum Bucket Supreme" is what Plankton calls the chum he serves in large buckets.
  • Totem Pole Trench: Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob do this to sneak into the Chum Bucket unnoticed, using a giant clamshell for the head with Mr. Krabs peeking out. Plankton saw through their disguise, however.
  • Unable to Retreat: When Patrick thinks too hard, his brain literally starts to burn up. It then cuts to a Mental World, where a bunch of Patricks are trying to escape. They think that the door is jammed and that there is no way out... even though the door is pull and not push.

Single Cell Anniversary

Original air date: 6/3/2009 (produced in 2008)

SpongeBob helps Plankton find an anniversary gift for Karen.

"Single Cell Anniversary" contains examples of:

  • Big "NO!": SpongeBob does this after Karen finishes loading the Krabby Patty formula. Plankton does this later after Karen deactivates.
  • Big "YES!": Plankton does this after Karen finishes loading the Krabby Patty formula. SpongeBob later does this while cheering that Karen exploded, preventing Plankton from getting the formula.
  • Cut the Juice: Spongebob attempts this in order to stop Karen from loading the formula. It fails because the cord actually belonged to a coffee maker.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: After Plankton succeeds in wooing Karen, she starts to download the Krabby Patty formula for him as a gift.
SpongeBob: They're such a lovely couple... THE KRABBY PATTY FORMULA?!
  • Forgotten Anniversary: Plankton doesn't remember it's his and Karen's anniversary despite the obvious hints she gives him.
  • Fun with Acronyms: E.M.I.L.P., Emergency Mother-In-Law Program.
  • Glass-Shattering Sound: Plankton sings a note that shatters Squidward's glass of iced tea and Sandy's air helmet.
  • Ironic Echo: See Big "NO!" and Big "YES!" above.
  • Literal-Minded:
SpongeBob: Oh, you've just got butterflies in your tummy.
Plankton: No, I'm just nervous. I don't know what flying insects have to do with it.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Plankton manages to get Karen to load up the formula after giving her present, but at the last minute, she bursts into tears. If she didn't cry which shorted her out when she did, Plankton would've won without question.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: After helping Plankton woo Karen, SpongeBob finds out that she plans to give him the Krabby Patty formula as an anniversary gift. Plankton gleefully rubs this mistake in SpongeBob's face.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Karen's E.M.I.L.P. (Emergency Mother-In-Law Program) functions as this.
  • Plot Hole: Karen originally had the Krabby Patty formula inside of a bottle for Plankton, but toward the end of the episode, she had to upload it.
  • Serenade Your Lover: SpongeBob gives Plankton the idea of making a song to sing to Karen, and later in the episode, Plankton sings her a song called "Oh My Karen".
  • Series Continuity Error: Plankton claims he doesn't know how to sing and SpongeBob teaches him, but he sang in "Christmas Who?".
  • Sidetracked by the Analogy:
SpongeBob: Oh, when the time comes, you'll know. The music she'll love comes from inside.
Plankton: Why are you so obsessed with my internal organs?
    SpongeBob: This is it, Plankton.
    Plankton: I don't think I'm ready.
SpongeBob: Oh, you just got butterflies in your tummy.
Plankton: No, I'm just nervous. I don't know what flying insects have to do with it.
  • Spanner in the Works: It's Karen herself who ironically ruins Plankton's plans, as she's so touched by his song that she cries and shorts herself out.
  • Tears of Joy: Karen does this while she's downloading the Krabby Patty formula, causing her to short out.
