For a change, Lady Luck seemed to be smiling at me.note

“Dearest Mamo-chan, it looks like Siren knows about my secret identity. Could a fun evening flight with the Three Lights actually be a trap to draw me out? If it is, then my friends are in danger because of me! I have to do something!”
Usagi Tsukino

The Three Lights hold a special movie screening that will take place on a late night flight and everyone but Usagi will be attending. Though fate bestows a cursed blessing when Aluminum Siren presents her a boarding ticket as part of her ultimate gambit to steal her Star Seed. Desperate to save her friends, Usagi rushes to the plane with the night taking a direction that neither she nor Siren could have anticipated.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Adaptational Wimp: While she does have respectable strategy and trapping skills, Siren's "Galactica Tsunami" leaves a lot to be desired. Especially compared to the manga, where it's a legitimate attack, while in the anime she simply launches drinks being served on the plane.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Just like Iron Mouse before her, Siren begs Galaxia to be spared.
  • Autobots, Rock Out!: When the Inner Girls transform in front of the Starlights, "Todokanu Omoi-My Friend's Love" plays in the background.
  • Badass Normal: The Inner Girls take on the Sailor Flight Attendants while untransformed.
  • Bathos: While Sailor Moon is reading Siren's letter inviting her to terror, there's a chibi doodle of her at the bottom.
  • Batman Gambit: Aluminum Siren's ultimate (and final) gambit involves luring Usagi into the Three Lights' plane ride with the implied threat of hurting them if she doesn't show up. Once she does, Siren gasses the passengers to keep them from interfering and creates a trio of Phages to serve as her backup and threaten the Three Lights if needed. And with the plane being 10,000 feet in the air, Usagi would have no choice but to surrender.
  • Battle Cry: The Inner Guardians and the Phages let out their respective cries of war before fighting one another.
Inner Girls: Let's force our way through!
Sailor Flight Attendants: Ready for take-off!
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Usagi goes home upset that she couldn't go on the plane ride with her friends. But then she cheers up after Chibi Chibi presents her an envelope with a ticket to the plane with her name on it. But then she reads the letter and learns who her benefactor is.
  • Big "NO!": Siren screams this just as she's obliterated into nothingness.
  • Blunt "No": Yaten crushes Usagi's approach for a free ticket with a simple no.
  • Breaking Old Trends: This is the first time a Sailor Animamate creates a Phage to use as battle support rather then leaving them behind for not bearing a true Star Seed.
  • Cassandra Truth:
    • Usagi's first instinct when reaching the plane is to urge the entrance stewardess to cancel the plane because of a great danger. Not understanding what she means and upset that they're already late, the stewardess ignores her and drags her inside.
    • Sailor Tin Nyanko sarcastically believes that Siren was lying about finding a Star Seed and how she was overwhelmed by the Sailor Guardians.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Usagi talks with her friends about Chibi Chibi's transformation and how they all felt a warm energy from her.
    • The Three Lights will be showcasing their sentai movie to their fans during the plane ride.
  • Contrast Montage: While the Inner Girls are boarding the plane and enjoy the experience, it cuts to Usagi racing to the airport while filled with dread over their safety.
  • Death by Secret Identity: Along with learning Moon's identity, Aluminum Siren learns the secret identities of the Inner Guardians and the Starlights. Tragically she's killed before she can use this information to her benefit.
  • Description Cut: Rei's psychic intuition ends up being half-right on two different moments.
    • After Minako worries about Usagi, Rei believes she's at home crying like a baby. While she isn't at home crying, she's definitely worried sick as she travels via taxi.
    • When the pilot announces one passenger who's arriving late, Rei calls them a slowpoke who reminds her of a certain someone. It then cuts to Usagi running desperately through the airport.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Realizing that she needs to be a member of the Three Lights' Fan Club, Usagi declares that she too will be a member and goes to Seiya to get her free ticket. But he points out that there was only a certain number of tickets and they were all given away. Taiki even brings up how it wasn't smart to ask for one on the day of the event.
  • Downer Ending: This was not a good day. For either the heroes or villains.
    • On the heroes' side, the two groups of Sailor Guardians are unsure of how to process the new information about the others' civilian identities leaving their friendships heavily strained.
    • On the villains' side, Aluminum Siren's luck runs out and she's killed for her incompetence, leaving her rival Lead Crow to mourn her.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Another Sailor Animate lurks in the shadows as Siren and Crow speak before Sailor Galaxia.
  • Foreshadowing: To comfort Usagi, Seiya promises that he'll protect her no matter what. He fulfills that promise but at a heavy price.
  • Gratuitous English: The three Phages created by Sailor Aluminum Siren barge into the plane's second floor saying "Attention please!" in English.
  • Hostage for MacGuffin: Using the lives of the Three Lights and the unconscious passengers, Siren barters their safety in exchange for Sailor Moon's Star Seed. And after the Inners interfere, Siren modifies the deal by bartering their lives.
  • Imagine Spot: Ever the hopeless romantic, Minako imagines the ride would feature her in a gorgeous dress being attended by the Three Lights who would dress as Spanish matadors.
  • Instant Sedation: To ensure that none of the passengers interfere, Siren floods the plane with knock out gas that puts them to sleep.
  • Little "No": Usagi gives one when the plane makes its take-off.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Three Lights and Usagi share this reaction after Siren calls her by her Sailor Guardian alter ego.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Usagi gets this when the letter she received addresses her as "Sailor Moon".
    • Yaten and Taiki get this when they realize too late that Usagi was right about warning them about an upcoming danger.
  • Pet the Dog: After the Phages are wiped out by Maker and Healer, Siren asks if they're okay.
  • Quirky Mini Boss Squad: Siren creates a trio of Sailor Flight Attendants to serve as her back-up while she forces Usagi to surrender her Star Seed.
  • Race Against the Clock: Realizing that her friends are in danger, Usagi rushes out of the house in the hopes of catching the plane on time before it takes off.
  • Say My Name: Lead Crow calls out to Siren just as she's being vaporized.
  • Saying Too Much: To Makoto and Ami's embarrassment, Minako openly reveals their upcoming plane trip. She does this unaware that Usagi is right there and knew nothing of their upcoming escapade.
  • Secret Identity:
    • Aluminum Siren makes it clear to Usagi, and later the Three Lights, that she knows her true identity as Sailor Moon.
    • To keep Usagi safe from having her Star Seed extracted, Seiya breaks free from his restraints and transforms into Sailor Star Fighter. The rest of the Starlights join in when they realize that there's no going back.
    • Soon enough, Usagi and her friends reveal their Guardian identities to help them escape Siren's trap.
  • Skewed Priorities: Rather then being curious over how Usagi ended up with a ticket, Minako expresses exasperation over how she gets to go to the Three Lights' personal suite unlike everyone else.
  • Spanner in the Works:
    • Siren's ultimate scheme fails since she didn't know that the Inner Guardians would be boarding the same plane nor that the Three Lights were also magical girl warriors in disguise.
    • Usagi also counts since her presence (along with getting to go on the same suite as the Three Lights) inspires her friends to leave their seats before they can be knocked out by the gas.
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: In less than five seconds after her demise, Sailor Tin Nyanko calls Aluminum Siren a loser who got what was coming to her.
  • This Cannot Be!: Aluminum Siren is horrified to learn that Seiya is a Sailor Starlight.
  • Trying Not to Cry:
    • Siren tries to hold back her tears after Moon purifies her trio of Phages.
    • Crow does the same after the death of Siren followed by Tin Nyanko mocking her failure.
  • We Will Meet Again: Averted. Siren boasts that she'll come back to haunt the Sailor Guardians once she comes up with a new plan. But she never did...
  • Wham Episode: The Inner Guardians and the Sailor Starlighters learn each others' civilian identities and Aluminum Siren is killed by Galaxia.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Yaten is annoyed with Seiya revealing her true colors to everyone, though he keeps the thought to himself before transforming too.
  • You Fool!: Crow (for the last time) calls Siren an idiot after hearing her feeble excuse for why she came back empty-handed to their boss.
  • You Have Failed Me: Sailor Galaxia ultimately kills off Siren for failing to provide a Star Seed even after she promised she would.
