Anger is the result of love. It is energy for the defense of something you love when it is threatened.

“So get this, Rei's grandpa started this weird business called Protection Aesthetics. He said it's supposed to make you become pretty and fit. But I don't know. I just hope it doesn't get him into trouble. Uh-oh! Looks like he is in trouble! Come on! Rei, you must punish them with your new technique!
Usagi Tsukino

(DiC Episode: "Gramps In A Pickle")

Rei is at her wit's end when her lecherous grandfather comes up with the cockamamie scheme of creating a woman-only fitness program. It gets worse as Koan infiltrates the new program with the intention of contaminating the program's shrine hall, which would one day become a Crystal Point.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • 10-Minute Retirement: Grandpa decides to quit being a Shinto Priest so he can pursue a profession where he won't be chastised for his perversions. He goes back to being a priest after this.
  • And This Is for...: Mars creates her new attack against Koan for hurting her Grandpa.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Grandpa Hino gets his wish of being in the company of beautiful ladies who want his attention. He soon regrets it when the ladies become hyper-violent and decide to target him.
  • Beam-O-War: Sailor Mars and Koan use their respective fire attacks against each other.
  • The Brute: Dumbell specializes in physical attacks.
  • Calling Your Attacks: Koan orders Dumbell to attack Grandpa by calling out various wrestling moves.
  • Chick Magnet: Yuuichirou, being the rugged prince that he is, manages to convince a legion of young women to join his master's fitness program.
  • Clothing Damage: Koan runs away in a panic after her skirt bursts into flames by "Burning Mandala".
  • Comedic Spanking: Usagi does this to Chibi-usa as punishment for waking her up just to steal the Silver Crystal.
  • Dub-Induced Plotline Change: In the original and Viz Dub, the magazine warns readers that the Hikawa Shrine harbors a creepy old man who sexually harasses girls. In the DiC dub, the focus was on Grandpa's martial arts ad being too big.
  • Dub Name Change: Sailor Mars' new technique "Burning Mandala" becomes "Mars Celestial Fire Surround" in the DiC version.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Zigzagged. As horny as he is, Grandpa isn't keen on allowing a little girl like Chibi-usa sign up for his scam. That said, he was interested in targeting teenage girls.
  • Fantastic Fighting Style: The old man creates a new sport that combines self defense fighting and beauty workouts.
  • Hate Plague: The more Dumbell's body slams the women onto the area, the more they become infused with Dark Power that turns them violent and aggressive.
  • Here We Go Again!: Grandpa still pursues a fitness program, only now it's a family friendly dance class between him, Yuuichirou and Chibi-usa.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Grandpa's perverted antics result in a magazine warning readers to stay away from him and his shrine.
  • Mean Boss: Grandpa happily replaces Yuuichirou with Koan as his new vice-coach.
  • New Superpower: Sailor Mars unlocks a new technique called "Burning Mandala". This allows her to create eight rings of fire to attack her enemies.
  • Pet the Dog: When the fighting's done, Tuxedo Mask again gives Sailor Moon the cold shoulder, leaving her crushed. Sailor Mars comforts her, pointing out the guy obviously still cares because he keeps showing up to help her.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Chibi-usa decides to quit Protection Aesthetics when she sees how violent the activities are.
  • Skewed Priorities: Koan isn't even phased when Dumbell is destroyed by Sailor Moon. She only decides to attack after realizing that her skin complexion was tarnished by Sailor Moon's attack.
  • Taking the Bullet: Rei shows up to take some devastating blows from Dumbell to protect her idiot grandfather.
  • Tom the Dark Lord: In the DIC dub, Dumbell’s Dub Name Change is “Rhonda”.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Rei chastises her grandfather for tossing aside Yuuichirou despite his seniority and loyalty. She would also chew him out throughout the episode for his hare-brained scheme that will eventually backfire on him.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Koan's Droid Dumbell resembles and attacks like a professional wrestler. She even carries a championship belt with her red jewel in the middle.
  • You Are in Command Now: Realizing that he'll never get any women as long as he's a priest, Grandpa gives control of the Hikawa Shrine to his granddaughter.
  • You Monster!: Rei calls Koan and her Droid monsters for hurting her grandpa.

Today on Sailor Moon, Grandpa decides to branch out into his own martial arts fitness school, HI-YA! But when his over-enthusiastic assistants turn out to be women from the Negaverse, its up to Raye and the other Sailor Scouts to save Grandpa. Can the Negaverse monsters be stopped? Just stay right there, and I'll show you!
