Taystee struggles with a friend's death as she is returned to Litchfield. Members of the group bid each other emotional farewells. The series finale aired on July 26, 2019.

This episode provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Agony of the Feet: Karla breaks her ankle after slipping on some rocks.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: Piper and Alex before they break up.
  • Ass Shove: Hellman hides Daya's drugs in the chickens.
  • Back for the Finale:
    • Chang is one of the people who gets picked up by ICE.
    • Piper pays a visit to Larry.
    • Judy King is called by Taystee to set up microloans for recently paroled inmates.
    • Karla is shown hiking to the US-Mexico border.
    • Big Boo and Anita are shown reading Judy King's book along with Yoga Jones in Alex's new prison. Also in the scene are Gina and Norma.
    • In the yard is Leanne and Angie along with Janae and Alison. Sankey and Soso are also in the yard.
  • Book Ends: The first episode started with Piper narrating that she loved getting clean. The final one ends on the same note but now more on keeping her slate clean. Just as the first episode ended with Piper seeing Alex for the first time in ages and freaking out, this episode ends with her seeing her in Ohio and being much more hopeful.
  • Bridal Carry: Karla is carried like this after spraining her ankle.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: As the final episode, there's gonna be plenty.
    • Judy King's book mentions how she had a threesome with a guard (Luschek). Alex later asks Yoga Jones about what Judy looks like naked.
    • Daya brings up how Hellman used to beat her back in the previous season.
    • Suzanne mentions people leaving like Vee and Cindy.
    • Black Cindy trading ham for turkey with Camilla is this since she's Jewish and she can't eat non-kosher.
    • Pen's love of Mountain Dew is brought up at her wake as Suzanne and Dixon, then the rest of Florida, sing the jingle.
    • Judy King reminds Taystee that she was in jail for tax tax evasion.
    • Red remembers she was supposed to see her grandson before she went to SHU and goes after Frieda.
    • Angie is still pantsing people like she and Leanne did in season 5.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: Nicky considers Alex's transferral to be this with everything else on top of the season. Gina and Norma in different prisons, Red and Lorna are in Florida and Piper being a free woman.
  • Brick Joke: The bad chair is back and gives Hellman, well, hell.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Blanca gets hers in getting her criminal conviction overturned, allowing her to stay in America. She still elects to leave the country anyway to be with Diablo.
  • First Girl Wins: Implied, as Piper moves to Ohio to go see Alex.
  • Grand Finale: The final episode of the series.
  • Hilarious Outtakes: The credits have these throughout them.
  • Important Haircut: With a new lease on life, Taystee gets herself a haircut.
  • Interrupted Suicide: Just as Taystee's about to take the drugs that will kill her, she opens an envelope which shows that the girls she tutored passed their GED, including Pen.
  • In the Hood: Part of Suzanne's wake for Pen for those showing up is to wear a hoodie like Pen did.
  • Long Game: Frieda's stack of trash is all part of this as she digs an escape tunnel out of Litchfield.
  • Mama Bear: Aleida is pissed when she finds out Daya is now using her little sister Eva as a mule. It's once Daya starts considering bringing in her younger sister that she's had enough and attempts to kill Daya.
  • Masochism Tango: A dynamic of Piper and Alex's relationship. Lampshaded by Alex.
  • Maybe Ever After: Piper and Alex.
  • Never Live It Down: Litvack is still getting called "Clitvack" even by his own coworkers.
  • Oh, Crap!: Frieda has this reaction to seeing Red in Florida until she sees she's not there anymore, allowing them to start anew.
  • Parent with New Paramour: Maria and New Maria are reading "Mi Burro, Mi Burro" to her daughter Pepa.
  • Person as Verb: Bill descibes Carol redecorating the house as "Marie Kondo"-ing it. Piper says the same thing when Bill asks if Alex sparks joy in Piper's life.
  • Rank Up: Hellman is now the Warden after Ward is fired.
    • With the falling apart of her old family, Nicky moves up to the role of Team Mom.
  • Snow Means Death: It's snowing when the paramedics take away Pen's body.
  • Taking the Bullet: Luschek takes the blame for Gloria's phone at ICE, losing his job in the process.
  • Tears of Joy: Taystee lets these out when she sees Pen had passed her GED.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Sankey has been working on being a lot less racist since being in Ohio.
  • Trash the Set: Because the drugs were found on the chickens, the chicken coop is destroyed.
  • Uncertain Doom: The last we see of Daya, she’s being choked to death by her mother. We don’t see what happens afterward, but the writers confirmed to Dascha Polanco she did survive. Karla is also left alone with a broken ankle in the mountains while trying to cross from Mexico to the US.
  • You Are in Command Now: Now that Gloria is getting out of prison, she elects Flaca to be the kitchen leader.
  • Wham Line: "I'm being transferred."
