Taystee meets with a lawyer; the GED exam draws near; Suzanne gives Pennsatucky a pep talk; Gloria is faced with a dilemma; Alex confronts Piper.

- Brick Joke: Daya and Taystee's conversation about last meals comes around as Ward brings out a whole mess of Storky's for the girls.
- The Cameo: For the last time in the series, we get to see Poussey speaking to Taystee from the latter's brief stint on the outside during season 1.
- Call-Back: Daya eliminates Aleida's drug hookup by getting her and Hopper caught the same way Aledia framed Pornstache in Season 1. Its even the twelfth episode both times!
- Despair Event Horizon: Pen relapsing into drug addiction after feeling she failed her GED exam is this. Taystee is also in this after feeling Suzanne's diary isn't enough evidence, not to mention Black Cindy is homeless.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Aleida realizes that if she didn't arrange the SHU rendezvous and neither did Hopper, it can only mean...and then they get busted.
- Get Out!: After Hopper is found out having sex with Aleida, who's an inmate while he's a guard, he's fired. It's either that or be arrested.
- Hope Spot: Just as it looks like Red is having a lucid moment with Nicky, it's when she says to get Gina and Norma (who are in Ohio) and Tricia (who's been dead since season 1) that Nicky knows she's gone.
- Internal Reveal: Ward and the rest of the staff find out about Hopper and Aleida's affair after being led to them having sex in the SHU. McCullough doesn't name names, but she also reveals she's in love with Alex.
- Sanity Slippage: Lorna's last bit has finally cracked to the point she attacks Damiva, getting her dragged down to Florida.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Once Nicky knows Lorna is well past the breaking point, she quickly gets a guard to get Lorna brought to Florida before she kills Damiva.
- Tattooed Crook: Daya wants to get one on her back that says "THUG LIFE" after getting the drugs back from the evidence room.
- Wham Shot: Taystee finding Pen's dead body in the laundry room.
