1. Fall/Corruption
Your first day as a Commander of the Central Government's Nikke Management Department begins with you waking up from your transport ship crashing, having to be resuscitated by a woman named Marian. She is a Nikke, one of many androids created for battle against hostile robots that have taken over the Earth's surface, the Raptures. You take command, fighting your way to a rendezvous point other Nikkes are to gather at, but you only find two Nikkes—Rapi and Anis—upon arrival, their senior Commander dead and leaving you the only Commander available.
Rapi debriefs the mission's initial objective: locate a missing Nikke squad. Though the coordinates of the missing Nikkes' location are lost with the deceased Commander, Marian says she knows and leads the way. They are contacted by an Operator from the Ark Intelligence Department named Shifty en route, who, after Anis accuses of dooming the ship by leading it into an area full of Raptures with anti-air weaponry, replies that there should not have been any and starts analyzing the ship's black box.
When the squad finally arrives at their objective, Shifty sends her analysis of the ship's black box to Rapi, prompting her to order Marian to freeze. The black box showed that the cause of the ship's explosion came from explosives meant to be used in the mission; the detonation signal came from Marian. Instead of denying the accusations, Marian starts to repeat "Over here", revealing herself corrupted by Rapture influence and acting as a beacon for a Tyrant-class Rapture named Blacksmith. Despite the odds, the squad is spurred on by the Commander to defeat Blacksmith in order to rescue the Nikkes it captured, including Marian.
The squad wins the ensuing battle, but they find no surviving Nikkes, while Marian lies disabled, brain damaged, and corrupted. According to Ark regulations, Nikkes with brain damage, and thus at risk of becoming "Irregular", must be executed—since Nikkes cannot kill their own, it falls to the Commander to do it. Though he hesitates to pull the handgun's trigger, Marian manages to speak through the corruption, thanking the Commander for all the times he bandaged her with a smile, and pulls the trigger for him. The Commander silently bandages her head wound and leaves with the squad for the Ark.
Intermission
The Commander receives a debriefing at the Ark under Deputy Chief Andersen, who plays coy at the news that Marian was corrupted since before their last mission. After the meeting, the Commander meets with Ingrid, who runs them and Counters through a combat simulation, but finds their performance lacking and wonders how they even survived their battle with Blacksmith. After reporting her findings back to Andersen, the two of them decide to send The Commander and Counters on another mission to the surface, this time to investigate a power plant that has reactivated itself without warning.
2. Identification
As the Commander and Counters prepare to return to the surface, an Elysion Nikke and self-proclaimed spy named Neon is added to the group. As a relatively new Nikke, Neon seems to find excitement in various things on the surface, and proclaims her love of "firepower", to the annoyance of Anis. The group works their way through an old drainage pipe to the power plant, where they see the Raptures operating the power plant themselves for reasons unknown. Before Counters can leave, Rapi's head is knocked clean off her body by a surprise Rapture attack. Anis and Neon pick up Rapi's head and defend the Commander from a Tyrant-class Rapture, Grave Digger, as they escape on a harvester vehicle.
Intermission
Andersen chews out the Commander out for their performance at the power plant, and how it was damaged beyond repair during the battle with Grave Digger. As a result, Andersen has banished the Commander and Counters to a remote Outpost beyond the reach of the Ark, which has the necessities but not much else. After the Commander leaves, Andersen confides in Ingrid that part of the reason behind his action was to keep the Commander out of the watchful eyes of the Central Government. Ingrid tells Andersen that after reviewing the Commander's report about the power plant, she thinks that the Raptures either want to finish off humanity, or replace them as the dominant species.
Later, as the Commander gets settled in the Outpost with Anis and Neon, a repaired Rapi returns and talks to the Commander about the nature of Nikkes and how most people don't see them as human, while the Commander seems different. Some time later, the Outpost is visited by a tiny woman named Syuen, who is revealed to be the CEO of Missilis, one of the "Big Three" companies that produce Nikkes. Syuen demands that the Commander work with a pair of her own unique Nikkes, the "Wardress" team of Yuni and Mihara, to capture a special Rapture in two days. When the Commander refuses, Syuen tortures him into agreeing, using Mihara's ability to transfer her pain to a target of her choice. Despite Counters' misgivings about going on an unofficial mission for Syuen, they head to the surface to hunt down the Rapture together with Wardress.
3. Enlightenment
Counters and Wardress butt heads with each other the entire way. Mihara tells Rapi that their quarry is a large Rapture, codenamed Chatterbox for its talkative nature, and that it leaves behind unique footprints that they can use to track it. As Mihara and Rapi continue arguing over the Commander and the nature of their own manufacture, the Commander seeks to abort the mission, but is warned by Rapi that their group doesn't have anywhere near the same pull as the CEO of Missilis. Later on, Syuen herself sends multiple texts to The Commander, threatening to plant evidence at the Outpost that would have him arrested for treason against the Central Government if he calls off the mission. Reluctantly, the Commander continues leading Counters and Wardress to hunt Chatterbox.
4. Bouquet
As the group takes a moment to rest, The Commander learns more about Yuni and Mihara's unique relationship with each other, and Yuni gets a lot more handsy with the Commander. Continuing their search, the group discovers they were led into a trap by Chatterbox. Wardress use their unique abilities to restrain him, but Chatterbox literally rips his own limb off and uses their own powers against them. Chatterbox then attacks the other Nikkes and breaks the Commander's ankle to prevent him from escaping. The group is saved at the last minute by a Pilgrim Nikke firing an anti-ship round at Chatterbox, forcing him to retreat. With Counters and Wardress both damaged and the Commander injured, Rapi leads the team to a nearby radio tower to signal Shifty for help. Shifty chastises the Commander for doing a surface mission on his own without backup or notice, and Syuen later messages him to keep quiet about her involvement. As Counters are performing a desperate defense of the tower against waves of Raptures, Nikkes of Absolute Squad show up in a transport chopper, and destroy the remaining attackers. Aboslute's leader, Eunhwa, chastises Rapi for previously leaving the squad and needing to be rescued, before taking the survivors back to The Ark.
Intermission
Enikk, the AI that oversees The Ark, orders that the Commander is suspended from operations for a few days, and that Mihara and Rapi shall have their minds wiped for their failures in protecting the Commander. Andersen talks with Ingrid about tightening their oversight of "The Big Three" Nikke producers after Syuen's unauthorized mission. After hearing that the Commander encountered both Chatterbox and a Pilgrim, Andersen immediately requests a meeting with him. At the meeting, Andersen tells the Commander that someone high up in the Ark has been corrupting Nikkes and sneaking them past the Aegis Barrier that is supposed to block Raptures and their corruption from passing into the Ark, and that Chatterbox is the link that can lead to the traitor. Therefore, the Commander will have to track down Chatterbox again.
Later, a mind-wiped Mihara returns to Yuni's side, and Rapi does the same with Counters, though Rapi tells them her mind was somehow not erased. Not wanting Rapi to be destroyed as an "Irregular," the squad decide to hide the truth from everyone else. The next day, Syuen returns to the Outpost, and Rapi kicks her in the ribs, pretending to be mind-wiped and not recognizing her. Shortly after Syuen is taken to a hospital, The Commander is called by Andersen to track down the Pilgrim Nikke on the surface, somewhere in the far North, and hopefully the location of Chatterbox with her. Before they leave, Ingrid gives the Commander a special prosthetic that will allow him to move with a broken ankle. The flamboyant Mustang, CEO of Tetra Line, shows up personally to give the Commander a unique dance-activated pass that will allow Counters to enter a research facility in that area. Now properly equipped, the group sets off for the snowy North on the surface.

01. Second Affection
After their meeting with Counters to take care of Marian at the end of Chapter 14, the Pioneer squad travels to an unknown location with her. Despite her initial protesting, Marian starts to bond with the members of Pioneer after Snow White explains her situation and what risks the Commander tas taken upon himself to get her away from the Ark. Halfway to their destination, with Marian asleep from drinking too much, Scarlet and Rapunzel split off, saying it's for the best if "they don't know where Marian will stay". Snow White continues on alone, until she reaches the castle of the White Knights squad, meeting up with Chime and Crown to leave Marian in their care.
Three days later, Marian, feeling abandoned once again, has not eaten, left her room, or said anything during her stay at Crown's castle, so Crown decides to visit her daily, silently observing her during the day and listening to her sobbing at night. Eventually, Marian opens up to Crown, and while she agrees that, in her current state, Marian is indeed useless, Crown vows to protect her nontheless, not because she was asked to, but because it is her duty as a Queen to protect her subjects. She even agrees to take Marian to the Ark to see the Commander, however, as they get closer, Marian finally realizes the danger she would put everyone in upon her return, and asks Crown to turn back, apologizing for her behaviour.
Some time later, Chime reports a big explosion from the direction of the Ark (likely caused by the excavation bomb that opened the Ark for the Rapture Invasion in Chapter 22), so she and Crown decide to investigate, leaving Marian behind to take care of the castle. Before leaving, Crown asks her if she has anything she wants to say to the Commander in case the White Knights meet him. Marian asks them to tell the Commander that she is doing well. As they leave, however, Marian wonders if she will also meet the Commander again one day.
2022 Events
Focus: Rapi, Anis, and Neon
A mysterious recorded message is broadcasting from a radio tower on the surface, claiming it is safe to resettle, from an unnamed source. Counters is assigned with hunting down the source of the broadcast and shutting it off before the message creates a panic within the Ark. The Commander and Counters head to the surface and discover the source of the broadcast is another Blacksmith model Rapture, and destroy it.
Focus: Maxwell, Drake, and Laplace
Syuen tasks Matis with finding missing Nikkes after they have gone to the surface for missions, whose disappearances are causing Missilis to look bad to the public. Along the way you learn how Syuen treats Matis; despite being her favorite unit of Nikkes and treating them better than all the other Nikkes her factory produces, such as giving them the best equipment, she overworks them to accomplish all goals regardless of danger and constantly sends them on missions even when they are low on power.
Eventually you discover that an intelligent Nikke hunting Rapture has been killing Nikkes. Laplace takes it down on her own after helping a surviving Nikke to safety. Missiles' and Matis reputation ends up improving by the end.
Focus: Rupee and N102 (Anne)
The event begins with Ingrid and Anderson discussing how to use the limited water the Ark has for the holidays. The intended use is to make it snow at the amusement park side of the Ark even if it means the rest of the Ark has less drinking water and showers; it is decided that the celebration will take place at the Outpost. There, Rupee streams herself trying to spread the holiday cheer, one of the first participants she tries to make happy being N102, or rather, Anne. Anne wishes for everyone to be happy this year, saddening Rupee as she thinks about last year and is aware of Anne's memory issues. Despite the discomfort, Rupee decides make Anne a helper and spread cheer among the Ark, helping Exia, Emma, Poli and Maiden with their own issues.
The first part of the event ends with Anne asking to meet her mom, which shocks both Rupee and you as this makes the first time she is able to remember something about herself.
The second week of the event deals with uncovering a deal Anne's mom, Angelina, made with Missilis about making sure Anne is taken care off while she pays for the resources to keep the girl alive. You and Rupee storm over to Syuen's office and make demands, after learning the truth, to stop the payments. Syuen, in a rare moment of empathy, finds out the truth and threatens the department who are exploiting Anne's mother and gives Anne free memory wipes to keep her alive.
When returning to Angelina to tell the good news however, it turns out the mother was willing to get ripped off if it meant avoiding her only daughter and the constant pain of Anne not recognizing her. Though displeased by this turn of events, she decides to meet with her daughter after some convincing and, as the snow is turned off, Anne says her goodbyes to her mom while hugging her, but is happy with the memories Anne made during the event.
Focus: Helm, Sugar, and Julia
Helm invites you and others to her ship for the New Year. At this party Julia plays music for the crowd while Sugar arrives after stealing the invite intended for Frima. A military officer asks you, being a Commander, to retrieve supplies from the surface that's a present for said officer's daughter, and Helm agrees to it if done quietly. As the host, she asks her unit to make sure the party runs smoothly while You and the three Nikkes go to the surface.
Along the way to find the package, Sugar and Julia share their goals for the new year; Sugar wants to ride as fast as she can since she can't within the Ark while Julia wants to find more inspiration to play more songs. Helm reveals she wants to sail on the ocean and has never seen it before. Eventually Sugar and Julia's goals come true as the mission unfolds and they convince Helm to at least see the ocean. The event ends with them seeing the ocean, finding the package and mysteriously finding familiar bandages from a previous Nikke...
2023 Events
Focus: Crow, Jackal, and Viper
The Commander is sent to the Outer Rim to link up with the Exotic team to hunt down a terrorist involved with Heavenly Ascension who has been setting off bombs. Syuen gives the Commander the codes to the bomb collars of Crow, Jackal, and Viper, three Nikkes with their own different motives, to keep them in line.
Focus: Cocoa, Soda, and Ade
Mustang demands the Nikkes of Maid For You learn how to make chocolate with "love" poured into the mix before Valentine's Day. The Maids' and the Commander come across an abandoned chocolate factory on the surface and a long-dormant AI that might be the key to unlocking this mysterious method.
(Collaboration with Chainsaw Man.) Focus: Makima, Power, and Himeno
Devil Hunters working for Tokyo's Public Safety Special Division 4 find themselves in another world, where the Counters team and their Commander pick them up. Most of them look human, but do not appear in any database inside The Ark. Anderson tells The Commander to keep a close eye on them, while they are allowed some movement within The Ark until the Central Government can figure out what to do with them.
After doing some tourism around The Ark, Anderson calls The Commander and the Devil Hunters to tell them about a strange Rapture codenamed Gatekeeper that somehow pulled them from their own world into this one. After equipping the Devil Hunters with special anti-Rapture weaponry, they and Counters combine their strength to destroy the Gatekeeper and send the Devil Hunters back to their own world.
Focus: Biscuit
A doberman named Max leads the other dogs at the animal shelter to escape their captivity and run around The Ark. Biscuit enlists The Commander's help to round up all the dogs. When she realizes that Max felt trapped inside the cramped shelter, Biscuit commissions Mighty Tools to make a better dog shelter with more open space for them to play in, deciding to name it Bow-Wow Paradise.
Focus: Sakura
One of the three members of Underworld Queen, the leader of the Yakuza-like Seimeikai, Sakura asks the Commander to consent to a temporary marriage in order to hold off questions about her getting married and producing an heir, questions that may lead to her reveal as a Tetra-created Nikke. While holding off various rivals trying to embarrass Sakura or take the Commander for themselves, the two eventually hold hands and propose under a blossoming sakura tree.
Focus: D
Perilous Siege agents D and K enlist The Commander's help to infiltrate the inner circle of a factory owner in the Ark who appears to be a charitable philanthropist, but has been involved in shady deals behind the scenes. Because the deals might implicate members of the Central Government if they were to be exposed, D leaves the decision up to the Commander, after gathering evidence, if the suspect deserves to live or die.
Focus: Dorothy
—This story is a flashback to a time before the Ark was fully built.
The legendary Nikkes of Goddess Squad spent several years defending the border to give the remnants of humanity time to finish Operation: Ark Guardian, which is to build the Ark and seal it from the outside. Their original leader, Lilith, is dead, and Red Hood went missing, leaving Dorothy to manage the dwindling morale of her remaining squad—Snow White, Rapunzel, Scarlet—and a contingent of mass-produced Nikkes. Even though Dorothy sent out daily reports to the leaders of the Ark, they never seem to respond.
One night when Goddess decides to hold a banquet to cheer themselves up, a Rapture attack interrupts them. Though the Nikkes manage to destroy their enemies, an enemy bombardment destroyed most of their food stores and killed every mass-produced Nikke save for a Product 23 Nikke named Pinne. Despite the trying times, Goddess and Pinne manage to pull through until another wave of Raptures come for them.
While putting up a valiant defense, Pinne became corrupted after taking a large one down, forcing Dorothy to end her life. Dorothy tries to kill herself shortly after, but the pistol is empty and the other members of Goddess Squad stop her before she could go further. Finally, the humans in the Ark responded through Oswald as their representative, giving the squad a few more tasks to complete before their mission would be complete.
As they set to their tasks, Dorothy continues leading the squad, but the others notice she appears to be talking to someone who is not there. Eventually, the Ark is sealed off... but Oswald conveys to the Goddess Squad that the Central Government refuses to let them inside, promising only that they would be remembered in statues and history books as the heroes who saved humanity. Dispirited but still willing to fight the Raptures, the squad then went their separate ways, promising only to meet up every month, but Dorothy stays behind to be with the ghost of Pinne.
Eventually, a tearful Dorothy acknowledges Pinne as a delusion and wanders away from the base, being told to move on, but her desire to get revenge on the Ark for betraying her still remains. Then she meets a Nikke of the Ark discontent with her mistreatment, coming to find like-minded people that would gather and found Eden—all for Dorothy's vengeance.
Focus: Blanc, Noir
The Commander is invited by Coin Rush to participate in a special series of games, where the winner will be given a kiss from both bunny girls Blanc and Noir among other prizes. However, a scorned man is looking to cheat his way into the finals.
Focus: Rosanna
After an explosion takes the lives of Rosanna's underlings among others, she enlists the Commander's help to track down those responsible.
Focus: Mary, Pepper
Multiple Nikkes are sent to a small beach on the surface to acquire extra materials for The Ark. However, when rising tides cut off the land bridge between the beach and the mainland, the Commander and the Nikkes who traveled with him decide to treat it as a short vacation.
Focus: Nero
When a cat named Ruru is abandoned in the rain by the human couple who stopped taking care of him, Nero and the Commander try to rescue him. However, finding the cat and rebuilding trust proves difficult, even for a dedicated Nikke from Happy Zoo.
Focus: Mast
After acquiring a map said to point to a buried treasure on the surface, Mast gets The Commander, along with Anchor and Frima, to go on a quest to locate the lost pirate ship supposedly containing a golden treasure.
Focus: Helm, Anis
Anderson tasks the Commander and Counters with returning to Blue Water Island to see if there are any Rapture movements, and if not, to treat the mission as a vacation. At first, it seems nothing is amiss, so Anis decides to enjoy the island and her new swimsuit, while dragging Helm, reluctant because the rest of Aegis Squad has been left at the Ark, with her to enjoy the beach. However, a mighty Rapture, codenamed Kraken, attacks the island, cutting off the Commander and all Nikkes present from returning to the Ark.
Helm manages to send a message out to the Ark, where they authorize the other members of Aegis to take the dormant warship The Admire out to sea to take down The Kraken and rescue the Commander. Meanwhile, not waiting to see if The Admire will arrive in time, Helm tries to distract the Kraken while the other Nikkes try to escort the Commander to safety across the land bridge, but the Kraken proves difficult to fight against. At the last moment, The Admire arrives, and Aegis uses the warship to destroy the Kraken and save the Commander.
(Collaboration with NieR: Automata.) Focus: 2B, 9S, A2, Pascal
The Commander and Counters investigate reports of a D-Wave reaction from the supposedly defeated Gatekeeper. Their mission leads them to a mysterious factory that appears to produce an equal number of Raptures and Product 12 model Nikkes that ignore all outside stimulation to shoot at each other until they fall. Some of the Product 12 models found outside of the factory start exhibiting unique personality traits and give themselves names as the Commander tries to unravel the mystery. However, the group is being watched by two members of YoRHa: 2B and 9S, who are unsure how they found themselves here and think this odd group might help them return home. When the two sides join forces, the Product 12s start to wonder what separates them from other machines, especially when some of the other Product 12s in the factory are broken to reveal a completely hollow shell.
Meanwhile, A2 works with a strange girl who is neither robot nor human (another Product 12) to find a teleporter back to her own world. The two of them end up running into Gatekeeper, and manage to destroy it. P-12 thanks A2 for helping her feel more like a human before the two of them disappear into their own worlds.
After the incident is resolved, with the factory and all YoRHa androids vanished, the Commander and Counters return to the Ark with the last surviving Product 12 model. Anderson later tells the Commander that model had to be reset, as she demanded to know if she still had a human brain inside her head and would have been destroyed as an Irregular Nikke otherwise.
Focus: Marciana, Rei
Marciana, a teacher at the Missilis-run M.M.R. Vocational School dedicated to testing and researching Nikke behavior and growth, quietly invites the Commander to enter the school as a guest proctor for the final week of exams. As The Commander sees various young Nikkes exhibiting strange behaviors, he initially chalks it up to stress over the coming exams. However, meeting with both Marciana and Ether reveals that the Nikkes who fail their exams will have their memories erased, and failing three years of school in a row will have the Nikke completely removed from the student roster and turned into a test subject for future Missilis experiments.
One of the students, Tercera, finds out the information on her own, and threatens to set a bomb off at the elevator leading to the surface and kill herself along with it. However, Marciana and the Commander manage to talk her down and convince her to take the practical exam with Ein, Zwei, and Rei. The following semester, all four Nikkes appear to have passed their exams. However, the night after that school day, Marciana goes over her class roster, and cries over the Nikkes she was unable to save from the exam.
Focus: Tia, Naga
M.M.R. Vocational School students Tia and Naga are the best of friends, but when the Commander wins a unique Cupid's Arrow in a raffle, the two Nikkes compete with each other to earn the Commander's affection along with the arrow.
Focus: Poli, Miranda, Quiry
Halloween has arrived in the Ark, and its resident police force, the A.C.P.U., has requested the Commander and Counters to provide assistance with keeping the festivities calm, peaceful and orderly. But a routine patrol spirals out of control when they catch wind of mysterious candy that causes people to lose their sense of taste. Quiry and the Commander track down a woman in a ghost costume who admits to making the candy, but had no idea that a batch of her candy was that bad. In the end, the ACPU is only able to charge her with using a warehouse without a permit, and go back to patrolling the rest of the Halloween party.
Focus: Red Hood, Snow White
The story is set several years in the past, during the initial Rapture invasion. The Goddess Squad, high-spec "Grimm" model Nikkes including Red Hood, Snow White, Rapunzel, Dorothy, relative newcomer Scarlet, their leader Liliweiss (a.k.a. Lilith), and a charismatic human Commander have been racking up victories, giving hope to the United Forces of Humanity. However, the Commander and Liliweiss both acknowledge that there's only so much the Goddess Squad can do on their own against the massive numbers of Raptures opposing humanity, and even with the addition of mass-produced Nikkes that can be brought up faster, the human race is in danger of going extinct without a dramatic shift in fortune. Furthermore, Red Hood reveals to Scarlet that she has been fighting Rapture corruption slowly eating away at her mind.
The Commander and Liliweiss come up with a plan to end the war quickly by seizing a space elevator known simply as the Lift, and eliminate the Rapture Queen said to reside somewhere in Earth's orbit. To help in this effort, the squad heads to an Elysion weapons lab to pick up a new Grimm Nikke named Cinderella. Unfortunately, the lab is attacked by Raptures before the Goddess Squad reaches it, forcing them to charge the Lift without her.
The next day, despite cutting a path through several Raptures to reach the Lift, the squad is forced back by a corrupted Cinderella. With all other UFH forces unable to seize the Lift or counter Cinderella, the humans deem the mission a failure and decide to focus their efforts on finishing the Ark. Meanwhile, Red Hood leaves behind a crying Snow White and goes off to die in her hometown, not wanting her allies to see her succumb to corruption.
Two months later, the Goddess Squad has been fighting nonstop to defend the Ark from Raptures, while Cinderella has been renamed "Anachiro" and slaughtering UFH outposts for the Raptures. Red Hood continues fighting the corruption slowly eating away at her mind, hoping to die while taking the Raptures down with her. After saving a convoy of humans headed to the Ark and talking with a thankful admirer of Goddess, Oswald, Red Hood decides to return to the Goddess Squad for one last goodbye.
Meanwhile, the Commander and Liliweiss are called elsewhere, leaving Dorothy to manage the rest of the squad, just as the Raptures blitz the entrance to the Ark with overwhelming force. As they run low on supplies and energy, Red Hood starts firing on the Raptures nearby, giving the Goddess Squad enough time to resupply. Suddenly, Anachiro reappears, and effortlessly neutralizes the Goddess Squad. Red Hood refuses to quit, and rallies the Goddess Squad to fight on. In the end, their combined efforts finally destroy Anachiro.
A couple days later, Red Hood claims to have reached some kind of equilibrium with the corruption inside herself, before giving a proper goodbye to the rest of the Goddess Squad.
Much later, Red Hood awakens in an old, run-down shack to find the scenery has changed dramatically, but there are still signs of a battle with Raptures and Nikkes. Unable to attack the last Rapture as her rifle has become rusty, she manages to distract the enemy long enough for a sole surviving Nikke to finish it off. The Nikke shows Red Hood that 30 years have passed while she slept. Red Hood asks the Nikke for her name, who gives it: Rapi.
Focus: Tove
A Missilis-produced Nikke named Tove has been studying days worth of documentaries and books on how to survive in the wild. Tove gets the chance to test her knowledge in the field as a member of the Unlimited squad when they are tasked with protecting the Commander and locating any survivors of a Nikke squad that never returned in the far North on the surface.
Focus: Ludmilla, Mica
After the Unlimited squad accidentally uncover some disused hot springs, Ludmilla decides to restore them and build a functioning resort on top of them. The Commander is asked to visit the site and see if there are resources the Ark can use at the site. Traveling with the Commander are members of Absolute, The Scouts, Carronades, and Coin Rush. After quickly surveying the site, the Nikkes decide to enjoy the hot springs and treat themselves to a vacation, but Mica constantly frets over Belorta, fearing that Belorta will have another accident around Christmas, making Belorta angry. Belorta later reveals that Mica saw her die on Christmas when they were both human in the past, traumatizing her before they both became Nikkes. The other Nikkes decide to throw a Christmas party with a big cake to cheer Mica up and help the Carronades duo squash their anger.
After the party, Belorta decides she wants to set off some fireworks. Despite the warnings about bad weather conditions, Ludmilla and the Commander go with Mica and Belorta up the mountain. However, before they reach the spot, increasing winds and snow trigger an avalanche that sweep Belorta away. The Commander drags Mica back to the resort, where all the Nikkes agree to be part of the search & rescue effort. Thanks to Blanc and Noir's luck, Mica picks up a trail Belorta left behind and rescues her before she is attacked by a Rapture. Everyone then returns to the resort and throws a bigger Christmas party in celebration.
Some time after his return from the resort, the Commander is visited by Ludmilla during one of her rare visits to the Ark. She provided a report to Andersen, and informs the Commander that the Central Government has decided to keep the resort open for any Nikkes operating near the Northern Base to rest before resuming their missions.
Focus: Scarlet
Noise takes a moment during a break in her New Year's Eve concert to give the Commander a quick kiss, sending the other named Nikkes in the audience into a jealous frenzy. The Commander manages to slip out of the concert hall before the others find him, only to run into Scarlet, who offers to take him up to the surface to see the first sunrise of the New Year. As the two of them take a long trek to reach a certain hill, Scarlet tells the Commander about her past to pass the time: Her late older sister Rose, their induction into a specialized Melee Squad of Nikkes, their early successes, and how Scarlet later became the sole survivor before she joined the Goddess Squad.
2024 Events
Focus: Leona
Due to concerns of Ark citizens regarding the more dangerous animals living in the Animal Shelter (like Leona's lion Timi), it has been decided that the shelter will be temporarily closed, leaving the Happy Zoo squad without any work until it reopens. After Leona informs the Commander about the shelter's circumstances, he manages to convince Guillotine to look after the animals while he accompanies Happy Zoo on their day off. However, the Nikkes cannot stop worrying about the animals under their care. So Leona and the Commander convince Mustang to let them take the more exotic animals up to the surface for one day. After spending the night camping out on the surface, Leona decides to release the animals back into the wild, as the Raptures don't treat them as threats. However, Timi decides he wants to stay with Leona back in the Ark.
Focus: Moran, Sugar
Moran, the head of the Peony Association and one-third of Underworld Queen, is suddenly faced with a crisis when a deadly drug called Mist has been spreading like wildfire around the Outer Rim, and Moran has been framed as the one forcing people in her territory to produce the drug or be killed for opposing her. Wanting to clear her name and end the threat, Moran calls upon the Commander, who takes a surprisingly agreeable Sugar with him, to hunt down the real mastermind behind Mist.
After the events at Fog Hollow, Moran's reputation has hit rock bottom, and the members of Underworld Queen, as well as Sugar, vow to hunt down Sixo, the mastermind behind the creation of Mist. Meanwhile, in the Outer Rim, two residents discuss the continuation of the Mist production, calling the decimation of Fog Hollow a minor setback in the grand scheme.
Focus: Ade, Privaty
Valentine's Day is approaching and Ade is feeling anxiety about her own maid work. After saving the Commander from a stray grenade explosion, the other members of Maid For You decide to let Ade rest for the holiday event, and enlist the help of Privaty and Drake (who deflected the grenade towards the Commander in the first place) to become temporary Maids at their cafe.
Focus: Elegg
Elegg, one half of the Electric Shock Squad, has been delivered an ultimatum from Ether to get her shut-in teammate, Trony, to leave her room. In one week, Missilis and Syuen's patience will run out, and Trony will have her mind wiped (or worse) if she does not appear. When Exia later mentions the upcoming Ark Gaming Expo, Elegg and the Commander decide to use the event to convince Trony to finally leave her room.
After her visit to the Ark Gaming Expo, Trony decides that she wants to share her dream of seeing the real sky with everyone living in the Ark. Elegg vows to help make her friend's dream a reality. They discuss their future plans, agreeing that the first step is to find an alternative to the Ark's current power source, believing that, if they can't find anything suitable within the Ark, they'll have to search on the Surface.
Focus: D
Perilous Siege agents D and K once again call upon the Commander to investigate a politically-sensitive target. This time, the suspect is a Sovereign named Kalina, an upper-class socialite who has been attending and throwing lavish parties for other rich people, but after each party, someone goes missing and is never found. D and the commander disguise themselves as a rich, newlywed couple to blend in with high society and earn an invite to one of Kalina's parties. However, the mission becomes complicated when Rosanna moves in next door to their apartment, and is targeting Kalina for her own reasons.
After her mission is completed, D visits Rosanna and hands her a diffuser, informing her that the fragrance within has a hallucinogenic effect strong enough to affect Nikkes. As D leaves the room without asking further questions, Rosanna is excited her investigation has made progress after all, vowing she will find Sixo and make them pay.
(Collaboration with Re:Zero) Focus: Rem, Ram, Emilia
Andersen brings news of yet another D-Wave reaction to the Commander's attention, and this time it has brought three women from another world: Emilia and her two maids, Rem and Ram. However, the reaction does not appear to come from the Gatekeeper this time, but an item being held by a wealthy and well-connected collector in The Ark. Rather than risk the bad optics of a raid on this person's mansion, the Counters decide to enter their new visitors into a cooking competition to win the item from the collector. But with the event drawing near and the sudden realization that only Rem knows how to cook, the group decides to get lessons from Maid For You.
Focus: Syuen
For April Fools, the Commander decides to play an escalating series of pranks on the various Nikkes he's commanded over the year. However, after tricking Syuen into going up to the Surface with him, the Commander discovers he might have gone too far.
Focus: Bay
Bay and Clay, of the Rewind Squad, are struggling in their latest cheerleading tournament. The two of them ask the Commander for help on their routine, and recruiting new teammates before the final round in two weeks time. However, the only new recruit they can find on short notice is Poli, and Clay begins overtraining herself into exhaustion, frustrating Bay as she tries to prepare Rewind for the finals.
Focus: Crown, Chime, Kilo
Kilo and her experimental robot suit T.A.L.O.S. are lost on the surface when the Weissritter Pilgrims, Crown and Chime, transport TALOS back to their castle with Kilo inside, thinking the robot is a giant decoration. When Kilo wakes up and exits the suit, Crown soon uses her authority as "King" of the Crown Kingdom to make her a citizen. At first, Kilo tries to escape and send a message to The Ark, but after meeting Marian and being afraid of angering her, Kilo instead uses TALOS to help the Kingdom collect materials to fortify their defenses and other treasures.
Later, the Kingdom comes under attack from bigger waves of Raptures than normal. As Kilo blames herself and TALOS for supposedly being at fault, Crown and Chime show her what their castle is actually protecting, a cryo-vault containing the seeds of a Superfood that could feed humanity in the future, when they succeed at retaking the surface from the Raptures. Elsewhere, the newly-regenerated Indivilia and Chatterbox, who have been directing the Raptures to attack the castle, find the secret amusing and plan to destroy the Kingdom.
