Chill Bill

During a trip to Lake Smalton, Cricket discovers Bill's secret fun side and brings out the true lake life in him, but things soon become serious when Remy gets stranded and Tilly catches a leech.

"Chill Bill" contains examples of:

  • Animal Lover: Tilly takes it to new extremes as she falls in love with a leech sucking blood out of her arm. She names it Sylvester and insists that it loves her back, even as she starts succumbing to blood loss.
  • Balloon-Bursting Bird: Not a bird, but the leech gets thrown off the boat and lands teeth first on the trampoline raft Remy is stranded it. It inflates a bit before popping off as the raft deflates and sends Remy towards the whirlpool.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Bill becomes one when he sees Cricket and Remy in a life-threatening drown, prompting him to drop his fun side and rescue them just in time.
  • Big "NO!": By Remy when he hears Vasquez's voice after tossing away the beach ball used to show a hallucination of him.
  • Bottle Episode: The majority of the episode is set at Lake Smalton.
  • Blue with Shock: Nancy when she sees the leech on Tilly’s arm.
  • Distant Reaction Shot: When the leech bites into Gramma, the camera cuts to a listening fisherman as her screams are heard.
  • Embarrassingly Painful Sunburn: Alice spends the whole episode sunning herself, and by the end she's badly sunburned; she still calls it "the perfect tan."
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Bill immediately snaps out of "chill mode" when he sees Cricket and Remy drowning.
Bill: So nice to see the boys having fun next to that giant watery vortex. (sighs)
(Following a Beat, Bill's sunglasses fall off.)
Bill: WHOA!!!!! (jumps off his tube) BOYS! I'M COMIN' FOR YA!
  • Hallucinations: Remy hallucinates Vasquez's face on his beach ball giving him advice.
  • Instant Leech: Just Fall in Water!: A leech attaches itself to Tilly’s arm after she gets to the shore with Nancy. Nancy wants her to remove it, but Tilly thinks the leech has formed a bond with her and insists on letting it suck her blood. It’s only after Tilly removed the leech and it moves on that she realizes it was only using her for her blood.
  • Mega Maelstrom: Remy's raft drifts towards a whirlpool caused by the reservoir outtake, and Cricket gets caught in the current trying to save him. It's up to Bill to save both of them with his rented jetski.
  • My Life Flashed Before My Eyes: Remy quotes this word-per-word to Tilly after Bill rescues him and Cricket from drowning in the whirlpool.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: When at the lake, normally uptight Bill becomes fun-loving and care-free. Cricket finds himself enjoying “Chill Bill”, and is reluctant to break him out of it, even if it means not letting him know Remy and Tilly need help.
  • Rapid-Fire "No!": Remy delivers this when he sees Bill and Cricket ignore his distress call and drive the boat away.
  • Shout-Out: Remy losing Beach Ball Vazquez is very similar to the scene in Cast Away when Chuck loses Wilson.
  • Skyward Scream: After tossing away Beach Ball Vasquez, Remy faces the sky and cries out: "I'M SORRY, VASQUEZ! I'M SOOOOORRRRRRYYYYYY!!!!!!!!"

Bunny Farm

The Greens' first vegetable harvest is threatened by an incoming horde of rabbits, and Nancy calls up the Greens' neighbors as reinforcements, but Bill ends up taking over.

"Bunny Farm" contains examples of:

  • Absurd Phobia: Dwayne is dreadfully afraid of rabbits.
  • Artistic License – Animal Care: The rabbits begin eating up all the carrots before Nancy and Lupita return with the extractor. In real life, carrots are actually toxic to rabbits and they will only eat the leafy part on the top.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Nancy and Lupita show up with the carrot extractor from the junkyard just in time to finish the harvest before the rabbits eat all the carrots.
  • Breather Episode: The last Season 3 episode to feature a fun country time before the gut-wrenching nature of the season finale up next.
  • The Bus Came Back: Hector's girlfriend Sunday returns since she was last seen in "Junk Mountain".
  • Explosive Breeder: Tilly set the rabbits free in the woods so that they can do "what comes naturally". Naturally, this means there are now thousands of baby bunnies headed for the farm.
  • Hard-Work Montage: The climax has a series of scenes of the Greens and their neighbors working as a team to get rid of the rabbits, all set to the song Sunday provides.
  • Just a Kid: Lupita wants to help with the harvest, but Bill thinks she's too young to do anything. When Nancy takes over, she lets Lupita help by going to the junkyard to get a piece for the tractor.
