Honey Heist

When Bill prepares fresh honey, Cricket leads the kids on a heist to take the honey before Bill finds out, but their plans may be ruined by Nancy's responsibility.

"Honey Heist" contains examples of:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: After Bill is led into the woods by the RC mole, Cricket says, "That sweet nectar is nested nevermore!"
  • Bottle Episode: Nearly the whole episode is set in the country house's backyard and barn, with the final scene set in the boys' room after the kids are busted.
  • The Caper: Cricket plans a heist of Bill's beehive.
  • Counting Sheep: Tilly's part in the heist is to deal with Gramma. She does this by putting her down... to sleep, by getting the sheep to jump a haybale past Gramma so she would count them and inevitably fall asleep.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: The episode ends as Cricket, Tilly, and Nancy share a laugh after Remy makes a pun by telling them to "beehive" themselves.
  • Fake Defector: At first it appears that Nancy has ratted out Cricket to Bill, but it turns out she was distracting everyone while she took a piece of honeycomb, thus getting some honey for the kids.
  • Foreshadowing: After Cricket screams at Bill coming when Nancy tattles him, her clipboard can be seen with a noticeable bump in the paper. Turns out, Nancy secretly hid some of the honey under the clipboard paper while Cricket was distracted.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Gramma is shown spearing a fly with a knitting needle.
  • Made of Explodium: The RC mole falls down a cliff and explodes on impact, with a baffled Bill wondering "What did that thing eat?" In reality, a remote-control toy car is no more susceptible to blowing up into flames than a real mole.
  • The Mole: Defied. When Cricket asks Remy to be the mole, Remy thinks it means he'll be a covert operative. In reality, Cricket meant that Remy would operate a fake mole to lure Bill away from the hive.
  • Sudden Eye Color: Seen on the kids as the honey is flowing past them as they are watching Nancy dispense it (Cricket's are shown to be blue, Tilly's are green, and Remy's are brown).
  • Title Drop: By Tilly when Cricket tells the kids they're going to steal the honey unguarded near the beginning.
Tilly: Brother, are you proposin'... a honey heist?
  • Two-Keyed Lock: Bill has installed one to protect the beehive, with him keeping one key and Nancy the other. Cricket's plan hinges on Nancy joining the heist so she can use her key while Cricket swipes Bill's.
  • We Need a Distraction:
    • Cricket disguises an RC car as a mole to lure Bill away from the hive.
    • When Bill comes back during the heist, Nancy tattles on him. This, however, was to distract everyone while she took a bit of honey for the kids.
  • You Are Grounded!: Bill bluntly says this to Cricket after the former rescued the latter from the bees.

Dog Mayor

Cricket discovers the mayor of Smalton is a dog and is up for re-election, so he rallies Remy to get Phoenix to run for mayor and convince the town she's impressive. Meanwhile, Tilly and Nancy try to fix a road of potholes.

"Dog Mayor" contains examples of:

  • Attack of the Political Ad: Cricket's campaign ad is mostly about how Phoenix is a better dog than Beans, with a brief mention of Beans being "guilty of snobbery". Unfortunately, Phoenix chewing on Remy's phone causes the video's outtakes to play, exposing it as lies.
  • Big "NO!": After Cricket gives a rousing speech on how he sees Phoenix which the townsfolk approve of, and he asks them if Phoenix still wins, a woman shouts this in response, since Cricket lied about Phoenix in the campaign video.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Cricket screams this to Remy when he sees Phoenix hit play on the outtakes from their ad.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Phoenix is disqualified and loses the election, leaving Beans to remain mayor once more, but at least Cricket and Remy had fun and Cricket doesn't care what the town will think of Phoenix and he will always love her no matter what, as she'll always be his favorite.
  • Caligula's Horse: Smalton's mayor is a dog named Beans. This gives Cricket the idea to have Phoenix elected mayor.
  • Eat the Camera: Cricket's picture briefly does this at the beginning of Phoenix's campaign ad.
  • Election Day Episode: After learning that Mayor Beans is running unopposed, Cricket campaigns to have Phoenix run as his opponent.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: When Phoenix steps up to the podium after winning, Remy's phone can be seen plugged in beneath her, being mere moments before she notices it and chews it, exposing Cricket's lies about her onscreen.
  • Graceful Loser: Beans's owner accepts the results of the elections and only gets outraged when Cricket and Remy's trickery is revealed.
  • Hope Spot: Cricket manages to convince the Smalton residents that Phoenix is impressive with his fake video, and beats out Beans by a landslide... but when Cricket asks Remy to play the victory theme on his phone, Remy reveals he left his phone plugged in at the podium, and Phoenix chews it unguarded, bringing up the outtakes from the video, exposing their lies and Phoenix is disqualified.
  • Idiot Ball: When a mother sees Phoenix's stick about to hit her baby, she doesn't bother to quickly push the baby out of the way so he's safe.
  • Go Fetch: Cricket tries to prove that Phoenix can do tricks by throwing a stick. Phoenix tries to fetch it, but gets exhausted after running a few feet. Beans then catches the stick before it could hit a little baby.
  • Liar Revealed: After Phoenix's makeshift campaign wins her the election, Remy forgets to unplug his phone from the podium and Phoenix chews on it; this in turn brings up the campaign's outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage, which in turn exposes Phoenix's fraud campaign and results in her disqualified.
  • No OSHA Compliance: The road that Nancy and Tilly were traveling on had a lot of potholes. Neglecting the condition of the road would cause a lot of accidents and delays. It's a good thing Nancy, Tilly, and other citizens were able to fix it by filling in all the potholes.
  • Oh, Crap!: While Nancy was fixing the road, a truck driver was able to drink some coffee, only for him to accidentally spill some on his eyes. Nancy freaks out and attempts to get out of the road before realizing she was stuck! Tilly was able to get her off the road in time, but Nancy's boot was still stuck on the road.
  • Produce Pelting: At the end of the episode, the people throw tomatoes at Cricket for cheating in the election.
  • Reflective Eyes: When Phoenix misses her stick and is about to hit a mother's baby, it reflects into the baby's eyes.
  • Rewind, Replay, Repeat: The last outtake is Cricket telling Remy, "This is politics, lying is allowed!"; Phoenix then proceeds to repeatedly rewind the video and replay the last three words over and over, exposing Cricket's fraud campaign.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Even though the townsfolk loved Cricket's Rousing Speech, Phoenix is disqualified and they boo him, prompting he and Remy to flee.
  • Take That!: Cricket says "This is politics. Lying is allowed!" This comes back to bite him later.
  • Unimpressive Progress Reveal: Following a Hard-Work Montage of Tilly and Nancy filling a batch of potholes, the camera zooms out to reveal there's far more potholes than they thought.
