Go To

The thirty-seventh episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Incesned by the Mobius Mint forging a commemorative Sonic the Hedgehog currency bill, Robotnik plans to sabotage the Mint's printing press so that every bill will have his face on it instead. Meanwhile, Coconuts tricks Robotnik into signing an I.O.U. so he can buy thousands of Mobiums worth of magic tricks from Wes Weasley to use on Sonic.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Banana Peel: The bird Coconuts zaps with the Bad Luck Emittor slips on one of these.
  • Bookends: At the start of the episode, Robotnik initially refuses to accept Weasley's services with a shout of "Get out of my life!" Robotnik yells this again as he's chasing both Weasley and Coconuts with the Bad Luck Emitter.
  • Circling Birdies:
    • Happens to the bird Coconuts zaps with the Bad Luck Emittor.
    • Also happens to Tails after Sonic saves him from getting his tails cut off by the printing press. In his case, miniature versions of him fly around his head.
  • Coconut Meets Cranium: A variant; when a bird gets zapped by the Bad Luck Emittor, an acorn falls on his head.
  • Continuity Nod:
  • Conveyor Belt of Doom: Coconuts zaps Tails with the Bad Luck Emitter, causing him to get hit by a loose ceiling tile, fall, and land on one of these, with giant scissors on the other end. Sonic saves Tails by running fast the other way on the conveyor belt.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Coconuts.
  • The Door Slams You: When Coconuts complains about having to scrub the toilets, he is about to open the door, when Weasley opens it from the other side and crushes him with it, just like he did to Grounder in his debut episode.
  • The Dreaded Toilet Duty: When Robotnik assigns Coconuts to scrub his toilets, Coconuts complains about having to do this job. When he overhears Wes Weasley trying to sell Robotnik his new magic tricks, he buys them from Weasley in the hopes of catching Sonic and getting on Robotnik's good side so he can get off sanitation patrol.
  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear: This episode's ending has Robotnik on the delivering end, where he's chasing Coconuts and Weasley while wielding the latter's Bad Luck Emittor.
  • Friendly Ghost: The ghost that Coconuts summons with his ghost-conjuring kit turns out to be a big fan of Sonic - even asking for his autograph! - and helps scare Scratch and Grounder off, foiling Coconuts' plan.
  • Idea Bulb: Coconuts' light bulb on top of his head lights up when he overhears Weasley talking to Robotnik, deciding Weasley's magic tricks may be just what he needs to catch Sonic so he can get on Robotnik's good side and off sanitation patrol.
  • Literal Ass-Kicking: What Robotnik does to get Weasely out of his fortress.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain:
    • Coconuts' plans to capture Sonic interfere with Scratch and Grounder's plans to do the same. When Scratch and Grounder set up a trap with wet cement and a chili dog stand, Coconuts tries to make Sonic disappear, but zaps a crane with a wrecking ball, causing the wrecking ball to fall on top of them. When Scratch and Grounder track Sonic down, Coconuts conjures up a ghost to scare Sonic, but Sonic tricks the ghost into scaring Scratch and Grounder.
    • After Coconuts succeeds in turning Sonic to stone with the mastadon vone, he calls Robotnik to inform him of the good news. An impressed Robotnik asks Coconuts if there is a way to undo the spell, and Coconuts tells him that the only way to do that is to hang up a phone. He does so right after saying he won't do it, then realizes his mistake immediately afterwards. When Sonic and Tails are back to normal, Coconuts tries to recreate the spell, only for Sonic to take the bone away from him and drop it into the street, where a cola truck runs over it, destroying it.
  • Non Sequitur, *Thud*: After Sonic saves Tails from the printing press, Tails says, "Yeah, cheese. Lots of cheese on my chili dogs, Sonic. That's how I like em'."
  • Pass the Popcorn:
    • When Coconuts attempts to cast a spell that turns Sonic to stone, Sonic sets up a stage for Coconuts and he and Tails watch from some seats while the latter eats popcorn. Sonic soon gets tired of waiting for Coconuts to remember his lines and pulls him offstage with a Vaudeville Hook, dropping him into the canyon below.
    • At the end of this episode, Sonic and Tails are once again seen eating popcorn as they watch Robotnik chase Coconuts and Weasley away.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • When Coconuts calls Robotnik to inform him that he turned Sonic and Tails to stone, Robotnik is impressed with him, as he only wanted Sonic out of the way for a few hours, but Coconuts captured him for good. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long, especially when Robotnik receives the bill for Coconuts' purchases.
    • In this episode's "Sonic Says" segment, Weasley tries to trick Coconuts into spending his hard-earned money on magic tricks, toys, and candy. Coconuts is about to spend his money, when Sonic stops him and tells him that he can save his money to buy something really cool. Coconuts decides to take Sonic's advice and buy a new toilet plunger to make Robotnik proud.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: "Lick the mastodon bone, Sonic will turn to stone!" Coconuts, however, has trouble remembering this one for a bit.
    • Also, "Hang up a phone, no more stone" to reverse the spell.
  • Robot Wizard: Coconuts, a robotic monkey, buys a series of magic tricks from Wes Weasley to catch Sonic and get on Robotnik's good side, since Robotnik always assigns him to janitorial work, which he hates. Among the things Coconuts buys are a disappearing spell, a ghost-conjuring kit, a mastodon bone that can turn things to stone, and a bad luck emitter. Coconuts even dons a wizard's hat and cape as he performs these magic spells. At the end of the episode, Weasley forces Robotnik to pay a 359 million Mobium I.O.U. debt, and Robotnik chases him and Coconuts away with the bad luck emitter.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: Since Coconuts doesn't have any money to buy Weasley's magic tricks, he tricks Robotnik into signing an I.O.U. to pay for anything he wants, claiming it to be for six more cases of toilet paper. Thanks to all the magic tricks Coconuts bought from Weasley, Robotnik now has to pay a bill of 359 million Mobiums, and he chases them away with the Bad Luck Emittor.
  • Stock Sound Effects: Early in this episode, when Robotnik is typing on his computer, the sounds it makes are from Super Mario Bros.. Ironic considering how Sega and Nintendo were bitter rivals at the time of this episode's broadcast.
  • Taken for Granite: Coconuts turns Sonic and Tails into stone with the Mastadon Bone. They get turned back to normal when Coconuts hangs up the phone he calls Robotnik with.
  • Trash Landing: Robotnik tosses Weasley into his trash pile when he kicks him out of his fortress.
  • We Are Not Going Through That Again: Having already suffered one failure from buying Wes Weasley's products, Robotnik decides that this time, he wants nothing to do with Weasley when he shows up at his front door early in this episode, and kicks him out.
Robotnik: You ruined my life once, Weasely! It won't happen again!
  • Wet Cement Gag: Coconuts attempts to make Sonic disapper with the first magic trick he buys from Weasley, but he does this in the exact same spot where Scratch and Grounder are trying to trap Sonic with wet cement and a chili dog stand. As Scratch and Grounder try to move Coconuts out of the way, Coconuts zaps a crane with a wrecking ball, and Sonic covers the three badniks in the wet cement, leaving them unable to get away from the wrecking ball that falls on top of them.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After Scratch and Grounder get frightened off by Coconut's ghost spell, they basically disappear for the rest of the episode.
  • You, Get Me Coffee: Robotnik assigns Scratch and Grounder to keep Sonic distracted for several hours to keep him away from his evil plan to make every 12 Mobium Bill have his face on it instead of Sonic's. When Coconuts asks Robotnik what he should do, Robotnik makes him scrub the toilets like he always does.
