Dr. Robotnik invents a Super Supreme Stopper Zapper that Scratch and Grounder use to petrify Sonic. Tails has to keep Sonic away from Robotnik until he can cure his condition.
This episode provides examples of:
- Added Alliterative Appeal: The Super Supreme Stopper Zapper.
- And Knowing Is Half the Battle: Scratch and Grounder call at Tails' house, and pretend to sell pizza. Sonic warns Tails never to open the door to strangers. Scratch and Grounder then pretend to be a policeman but get taken away by a real police officer. Tails says he heard them knocking but they can't enter the house.
- And I Must Scream: When turned to stone, Scratch, Grounder and Sonic can't move but they can feel every injury inflicted upon them while frozen.
- Badass in Distress: Sonic becomes this when he is zapped by the Stopper Zapper. Tails has to protect him until he can trick Scratch and Grounder into zapping him back to normal.
- Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: Scratch and Grounder attempt to capture Sonic by setting up a fake chili dog stand. Sonic disguises himself as a "chili dog inspector" and critiques Grounder's chili for not being spicy enough. He "helps" Grounder by giving him a can of "Very Hot Chili" to add to the mix and then tricks Grounder into eating a hot dog covered with said chili, causing the latter to explode like a rocket. Sonic then proceeds to serve two dogs (with regular chili) for himself and Tails.
- Brick Joke: Robotnik demonstrates the Stopper Zapper by zapping Scratch. While in his frozen state, Grounder tickles Scratch's beak with a feather duster, squirts water in his face, and smashes his head with a hammer (also smashing his own head in the process). When Robotnik unfreezes Scratch, Scratch sneezes, then complains that his head hurts and he's all wet. When he asks Grounder what happened, Grounder brushes it off by asking him "Bad dream?"
- Bullying a Dragon: Scratch and Grounder talking back to the police officer standing behind them as they impersonate pizza delivery in the "Sonic Says" segment.
- Call-Back: In this episode, Sonic was turned to stone. The same thing happened in the previous episode "Grounder the Genius" though in the previous episode he was rather trapped in stone while here, his molecules are frozen and then he is turned to stone. This was later one of Coconut's spells sold by Wes Weasley in "The Magic Hassle", but in that episode Tails was also turned to stone due to high-fiving/touching Sonic when Coconuts turned him to stone. In this episode, Sonic wasn't aware of being stone, but in "The Magic Hassle", Sonic and Tails both were aware of this.
- Comically Missing the Point: This exchange when Robotnik gives Scratch and Grounder the Stopper Zapper:Robotnik: Take this and find Sonic! I want him here by suppertime.
Grounder: By suppertime? How's Sonic gonna eat if he can't move? - Cool Board: Tails rides a skateboard throughout this episode. This is how he's able to move Sonic around in his stone state.
- A Day in the Limelight: For Tails.
- Delivery Guy Infiltration: A young Tails unsupervised at home almost answering the door to Scratch and Grounder impersonating pizza delivery. Luckily Sonic and a real police officer prevent that from happening.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Scratch and Grounder saying how they're pretending to be pizza delivery while in the presence of a police officer in the "Sonic Says" segment.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Sonic pushes Tails out of the way so that he wouldn't be turned to stone instead.
- "Home Alone" Antics: While in the factory, Tails sets traps for Scratch and Grounder to get back at them for turning Sonic to stone.
- The Millstone: Tails losing his skateboard and going back for it is what leads Sonic to get zapped by the Stopper Zapper.
- Mouse Trap: Scratch and Grounder build a giant one to catch Tails, using a chili dog as bait. Tails pretends to fall for it so he can trap Scratch and Grounder in it.
- Nobody Calls Me "Chicken"!: Tails gets offended by Scratch and Grounder calling him "a pipsqueak".
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Tails comes over dressed as a police officer. It fools both, but Scratch sees through it after noticing the apparent officer's two tails.
- Reflecting Laser: Tails hides behind a mirror to trick Scratch and Grounder into zapping it, so the Stopper Zapper's laser will reflect off it and zap Sonic back to normal.
- Right Behind Me: Scratch and Grounder make the mistake of talking back to and insulting a real police officer while impersonating a pizza delivery in the "Sonic Says" segment.
- Seesaw Catapult: Tails builds a seesaw so he can trick Scratch and Grounder into chasing him onto it, and he can launch them into the air by dropping sandbags on the other end.
- Shout-Out:
- The episode's name is a reference to the 1980s sitcom Charles in Charge.
- The way Tails propels himself forward on his skateboard is by rotating his twin tails, much like when flying, rather than kicking to push it forward, This is the same way Tails' video game counterpart speeds himself up.
- The plot synopsis is similar to that of Quest for Pizza from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, another show produced by DIC Entertainment. Both episodes center around the secondary protagonist (Tails and Luigi respectively) as the main protagonists are knocked out or become unresponsive for the majority of the episode because of the villain's weapons (Sonic with the Stopper Zapper and Mario with a poisonous snake). Both of the objectives for the secondary protagonists is to keep their friend safe until they can cure them and involve traps set by the antagonists only to backfire on them completely.
- So Proud of You: Sonic tells Tails that he's proud of him for his actions and they high-five.
- Spotting the Thread: Tails disguises himself as a police officer to fool Scratch and Grounder, but his two tails end up exposing his disguise.
- Taken for Granite: Sonic is turned to stone by the Stopper Zapper, and Tails needs to find a way to trick Scratch and Grounder into re-zapping Sonic.
- Too Smart for Strangers: In this episode's "Sonic Says" segment, Scratch and Grounder come to Sonic's house, impersonating pizza men. Sonic advises Tails (and to an extent, the viewers) against opening the door for anyone you don't know when you're home alone or your parents are busy.
- Underestimating Badassery: Scratch and Grounder assume that the young Tails will be helpless without Sonic. The fox is more than happy to prove them wrong.
- Wet Cement Gag: At the end of this episode, Tails traps Robotnik, Scratch, and Grounder in a vat of quick-drying cement, and sparks from the latter two set off the fire alarm, causing the cement to get wet and harden.
- Wild Take: Grounder does a number of these when he eats a chili dog with very hot chili, including ones where he acts like a dog and a cat.
- Wise Beyond Their Years: Tails' intelligence is hinted at when he made an elaborate trap.
