  • Tenma Yakou has an Eye Scream moment in the beginning of the series, after discovering the duel table with Pegasus' blood splattered over it and Crocketts telling him that Yugi had won the duel. His eye then melts in a surreal scene. Since then, he usually has a case of Mad Eye going on.
    • Going on from that, Yako's plan is to resurrect Pegasus in Anzu's body, which would consume her soul in the revival process and separate her from anyone who ever cared about her. Worse, since the author said Pegasus and Cyndia were Together in Death, the plan would have separated them again if it worked.
      • Also worth mentioning why Yako picked Anzu specifically. He set up three conditions for Pegasus' vessel: 1) That they be physically and mentally healthy, 2) that they must not be a duelist, as detaching a duelist's soul from the body would be too difficult due to the "Sword of the Heart" that would put up too much resistance, and 3) that their possession would inflict pain and despair onto Yugi Mutou. While the first two make pragmatic sense, the last one is utterly disturbing in how Yako wants to make Yugi suffer.
    • Yako's madness as a whole. Pegasus at least had a Mask of Sanity and a dignified composure, not to mention being Affably Evil. Yako by contrast, is utterly out of his mind, he can't go two panels without breaking out a case of the aforementioned Mad Eye, and is utterly obsessed with destroying Yugi as revenge.
  • The Evil Gods/Jashin as a whole are this. Evil copies of the Egyptian Gods may seem simple, but they are not to be taken lightly. The duelists who face them admit that they are on the level of the regular Gods, and their powers and purpose are certainly twisted. They also have a plethora of scenes highlighting the creepy.
    • The debut of the Wicked Avatar is rather chilling; a monster on par with Ra that instantly destroys Slifer the Sky Dragon, and seems to have but one thought as it influences Yako: Destroy the King. Probably a good thing we don't know where and how Pegasus got the inspiration for these things. Also doesn't help that its manga card artwork features a shapeless monster within the sphere of darkness that the real-life version lacks.
    • The Wicked Dreadroot honestly runs on this; being a demonic caricature that rivals Obelisk, it literally spreads fear everywhere, cutting the original ATK of all other monsters in half. It doesn't help when Yako summons it during his duel with Kaiba, since he already has Avatar out, enabling it to take on the Dreadroot's form and destroy what's left of Kaiba's defenses.
    • At the end of Seto Kaiba's duel with Yako, Seto has a vision of a shadowy Blue-Eyes White Dragon roaring at him in a scene rather reminiscent of the first penalty game that Dark Yugi had inflicted upon him so long ago.
    • The last moments of the duel between Bandit Keith and Jonochi. Keith summons the Wicked Eraser which, when it is eventually destroyed, attempts to drown Jonouchi and Keith with what appears to be its blood. What makes it worse is that Keith is laughing while he's drowning, and is okay with it just as long as he makes Jonouchi suffer. The fact that it may or may not be a hologram doesn't help.
      • Yako likewise uses it during his final duel with Yugi, and while it thankfully doesn't drown the field in blood (just dissolves everything on the field), the manga version proves to be stronger than the real-life one, having the power to nuke the field whenever it hits the GY. The result is Yami Yugi having a bare field against Gaap the Divine Soldier, who gets a rather ominous entrance thanks to using Eraser as the Tribute fodder.
    • The Wicked Avatar takes Yugi's form, resulting in a shadowy, evil Yugi for Yami Yugi to face down and destroy. The truly disturbing part is how Yako tries to break Yami Yugi's will with this form; that it represents all of Yugi's hate for his other self for stealing his glory, gaining nothing. The idea of being attacked by his partner to take revenge quite nearly breaks Yami Yugi; the only other villains who succeeded in that level of psychological torment were DOMA from the anime, but at least there Yami Yugi either had a loud rebuke or found his inner strength. Here, he silently asks if that's true, completely unable to retort; it takes Yugi himself taking over to refute Yako's Breaking Speech.
      • Worth noting beforehand is when Yako manages to summon it in this duel, as the Jashin uses its effect to take on a new form, we're treated to a scene of Anzu herself trapped within the darkness of the Avatar, briefly manifesting before fading away. Yako creepily gloats about Anzu being absorbed by the Avatar, and calls it the God's judgement; death to Yugi and everything he loves. Best not to think of what that was like for the poor girl.
