The Film

  • Julie being chased by Skeletor's mercenaries, especially when they beat Carl up, set the gym on fire, and chase her to an abandoned warehouse. Being based on a kids' show, these characters might seem kind of corny at first, but they're quite a credible threat once you see what the blades and projectiles they're using can do to the set.
    • On-set, the fire almost got out of control and burned the place down before it was contained.
  • Saurod's appearance is disturbingly realistic, especially how his neck throbs.
    • His death scene can be pretty unsettling as well, watching him scream as he's consumed by red energy and disappears, with the usually stoic Blade looking so terrified it's a wonder he didn't need to change his pants afterwards.
  • Kevin's wholly justifiable panic when he sees Julie is missing and Carl is gravely injured.
  • The mercenaries beating Kevin up, followed by Evil-Lyn placing a mind-controlling collar around his neck to force information out of him makes for a rather disturbing interrogation scene.
  • Evil-Lyn shapeshifting into Julie's dead mother to trick her and just generally being a lot more competent than her fellow minions.
  • Skeletor entering our world.
  • The poisoned and festering wound Julie gets on her leg from being blasted by Skeletor's Havoc Staff is portrayed disturbingly graphically.
  • The Sorceress's Rapid Aging due to Skeletor draining her power. By the end of the film, she looks like a skeleton draped with pale skin.
  • Skeletor's getting everything he wanted and becoming a god at the climax. It really does get you wondering whether the good guys can hope to pull out a victory this time.
  • Skeletor's scream as he falls down a seemingly bottomless pit when He-Man defeats him.

The Filmations series

  • Modulok's appearance is pretty creepy looking.
  • The Creeping Horak from "The Curse of the Spellstone". This creature was used in ancient Eternian times to execute the worst criminals. They would be locked up in their own homes and the Horak would grow over it until the air was squeezed out, essentially smothering them.

Other

  • Mark Taylor, who designed Skeletor for the original toyline, was inspired by a traumatic childhood incident where he found what he believed was a decayed skeleton in a rundown funhouse at the Long Beach Pike Amusement Park. Years later, he finds out from a Discovery Channel documentary that it was indeed an actual skeleton. It's very rare to have a fictional villain be inspired by a personal real-life scary incident.
