Living up to its Tag Line of "A Taisho era tale to touch hearts", Sakura Wars has no shortage of heartwarming moments, from camaraderie and fellowship to acts of true love.- Sakura being visibly happy upon meeting Kamiyama once again to the point where she calls him "Sei" and swings her broom around as if it was her katana to make him remember their childhood past.
- As a whole, their relationship is adorable. Even if he doesn't end up with her in the end, they still support and protect one another. There's a reason why Kamiyama treats the team like family and it starts with the girl he grew up with.
- Even their lover's quarrel at the end of Chapter 5 is both heartwarming and funny as the other Flower Division members basically tell them to, "Get a room," while Sakura recalls their Childhood Marriage Promise.
- In fact, Sakura's song
is all about her feelings for Kamiyama, how she once viewed him like a brother but those feelings soon blossomed into love.
- There's Michie Tomizawa back as Sumire Kanzaki, the combat revue's top actress-turned-commander. Though she initially showed trepidation during her first encounter with Ichiro Ogami way back in the original game, she's visibly happy to have Kamiyama join the combat revue. Sumire's scenes show that the then-57-year-old Tomizawa's involvement would forever be a part of the Sakura Wars series.
- In the game itself, there's a sense of optimism in her voice when talking about her old crew. She not only speaks fondly of them but constantly and confidently states that one day, they will return. Its what keeps her going in her role as owner and commander of her troupe and her hope and confidence is what helps Kamiyama and his team as well.
- Claris begins to show signs of affection for Kamiyama by the time they go out on the date in episode 2. The date itself was adorable as well seeing Claris' growing affection for Kamiyama. At the end of the chapter, after the date and helping her get over her trauma of her powers and helping her with the script for their show, she tells him that he's the reason she was able to get so far.Claris: So... I hold you responsible mon chéri!note
- Chapter 4, Azami was doubting herself after being captured with Kamiyama by Mr. I. She says that she's a failure of a ninja and will never be a true ninja. But Kamiyama assures her that in his eyes, she's a true ninja. This encourages her to save Kamiyama and her master.
- When Kamiyama and Yattansai, Azami's ninja master, find themselves cornered by President G's armed goons, Yattansai tries to dissuade Azami from risking her life to save him with Mochizuki ninjustu rule number 108: A ninja must prioritize their own survival, even if it means sacrificing their allies. Azami, however, declares this the one rule she cannot obey, and she and Yattansai use Summon Magic to drive off their assailants with a giant toad and snake. Afterwards, Azami is prepared to face exile for violating one of the Mochizuki's rules. To her surprise, however, Yattansai declares her to be a ninja master: by realizing that sometimes the rules must be broken to do what's right, Azami proved herself to be a true ninja! And her first rule as ninja master? "Follow Kamiyama to the ends of the earth!"
- In chapter 5, Kamiyama rubbing Sakura's head as a sign of affection is absolutely heartwarming, especially when you consider that they've been Childhood Friends who have been separated during the Battle of Tokyo.
- The entire time in Sakura's home is this from the way Kamiyama gets nostalgic over their old "weapons" to how he tries to lift her spirits back up. He even sleeps besides her while holding her hand.
- When Kamiyama talks to Hakushu after his and Sakura's fight, one option that pops up when she asks what Sakura is to her is "One day... I want us to be together". Hakushu is rather surprised and didn't expect for Kamiyama to basically tell her that he wants to marry her.
- After Kamiyama fails to return with Sakura, Sumire tells him that when she used to go out on missions with her group, they would always return to the theater cause it's their home, proposing to Kamiyama if he's consider it this way too. When he talks to Claris and Azami about it, he tells them that he failed as a captain because he didn't treat everyone like family and that's why Sakura and Hatsuho were pissed at him. Claris and Azami tell him that he's done so much to help the two of them, that they would help him too when he needs it. This gives him the confidence to try to get Sakura back again.
- When Anastasia tells Kamiyama that she is leaving the Imperial Combat Revue, he is obviously sad at the thought, but ultimately decides that if that's her choice then it's fine, but if she decides to come back, they'll welcome her back with open arms. Kamiyama obviously took Sumire's advice to heart so he will keep a space open for her if she decides to return.
- The Christmas dates in Chapter 6 are all heartwarming in their own way, especially because the girls were able to spend time with Kamiyama on their various activities. The thing is, assuming your Relationship Values are high enough, you can spend time with all five girls.
- Following the Christmas date(s), Kamiyama has one more date event which belongs to the girl with the highest trust in which they go to the Farris Wheel. What happens then depends on who he's with:
- Sakura and Kamiyama see the light in the town and take pride in their role in defending Tokyo. They also reaffirm their relationship with one another. When it seems like Sakura was about to confess her feelings, they are interrupted by the gondola reaching the ground.
- Kamiyama seems to be enjoying the ride but Hatusho finds out she's afraid of heights. To ease her fears, he decides to sit next to her until they reach the ground and eventually calms down.
- During the ride, Claris asks Kamiyama to reenact a scene she recently saw. She puts a Pocky stick in her mouth and attempts a Pocky Kiss with him, but she gets too flustered to finish.
- While enjoying the sights from inside the gondola, Azami decides to get a better look by hopping to the roof of the gondola. Kamiyama soon joins her and sees a much better view of the city. Crosses over to funny because they were scolded by the staff for their stunt.
- As their last night together, Anastasia invites Kamiyama to sit close to her to enjoy the lights in the city. When the gondola stops and the lights go out, Kamiyama holds on to Anastasia. Even when the lights come back on, they continue holding on to one another for the rest of the way down.
- The fact that after Anastasia's betrayal, the team still believes in her and gives up their spot in the finals to get her back. They even forgive her afterwards, and Anastasia tells them that she will atone for what she did for as long as she can.
- Kamiyama and Sakura return to 1930, during the time of the Battle of Tokyo. Then, Hinata recognizes Sakura as her daughter from the future and they hug each other for the first time.
- 1940 Sakura encountering her 1930 self shortly after the former makes short work of the demon threatening her.
- During her return trip to the Final Battle, Sakura Amamiya has one last encounter with the hero who helped make her into the woman she is: Sakura Shinguji!
- All of the character endings are very sweet in their own ways, some of them ending in a Big Damn Kiss.
- Sakura's ending is reminiscent of Sakura Shinguji's ending in the original game. Sakura's being transferred to the Shanghai Combat Revue with everyone sending her off via boat, but Kamiyama drives in at the last moment declaring he wants her by her side and doesn't want to let her go. After the both of them land in the water, the others look on as they finally kiss.
- Hatsuho meets Kamiyama in a festival in a kimono asking if she looks more feminine, Kamiyama affirms she looks great. After returning to a shrine to watch the fireworks, she finally works up her courage and they kiss under the fireworks.
- Claris and Kamiyama retreat to a hot spring, though they don't realize they ended up in a mixed bath. They hide behind a rock too embarassed when others come into the hot spring. When they clear out, Kamiyama passes out and she helps him recover from the heat. When he recovers, they soon kiss under a sunset.
- Azami and Kamiyama go to a theme park riding all the rides when they come across the roller coaster. While she's fine at first, she immediately gets scared about how fast its going. When she thinks she's disappointed him, he comes back with ice cream to calm her nerves, as she takes a rest and tells him that she loves him.
- Anastasia asks Kamiyama to come with her to a flower field as they watch a meteor shower. While enjoying the meteor shower, she glances at Kamiyama only for him to stare at her, getting her flustered. They then continue watching the sky while sitting with one another.
