Go To

  • Anytime Commander Thorson and Laffey bond with each other.
    • This is a titanic reward for Laffey. She went through endless crap by her previous Commanders and Thorson broke that trend by becoming the Parental Substitute/ Big Brother Mentor she desperately needed.
    • Once Laffey realizes how much she likes Thorson, she heads toward his room, sneak inside and sleep on top of him. When Thorson wakes up, he sees how genuinely happy Laffey is.
  • Laffey became the first to trust Akashi and Shiranui despite they're once members of the Sakura Empire.
  • Crossing with Tear Jerker, Akashi weeps over what happened to Nachi but does not hold this against Thorson and instead, thanks him for saving the others from suffering that terrible fate.
  • Thorson sees Brooklyn and Cassin heading off to carry out their new mission but not before Brooklyn hugs her commander who returns the sentiment to her. It's not dissimilar to how a father sees his daughter off to college.
  • Thorson reads bedtime stories to Mutsuki, Kisaragi and Mikazuki. Dawww!
  • After 20+ chapters, Arizona is brought back to Thorson and Pennsylvania. This is a massive relief for Thorson who can finally let go of the guilt he bear for not saving the girl from her demise at Pearl Harbor.
  • Ark Royal, in total contrast to her Comedic Lolicon counterpart, is a warm, gentle and motherly figure to the little Destroyers.
  • What make Z23 turn her back on Crimson Axis and her Ironblood? She refuses to kill her childhood friends.
  • Thorson tending to Vampire following the death of her lover.
    • Even sweeter is that Thorson's not the only one who sees the Kansen as actual living beings rather than war machines.
    • This one tops them all. After helping to put her lover to rest, Vampire enacts a Blood Oath with Thorson as a way of telling him that she'll side with him even if she has to abandon her nation to do so.
  • Feeling that she cannot compare herself to the other Kansen, Cleveland asks Thorson's opinion about her and what did he say?
Cleveland: Commander, Am I pretty like they are?
Thorson: You're nothing like they are, But you're pretty.
    • After that, the two get together in bed and make love. Cleveland can't compete with the likes of Penny or Fusou but they'll never take her spot as Thorson's first.
  • Whenever Interspecies Romance forms between human and Kansen such as Brooklyn and Captain Stevens and Houston and Fredrick.
  • Even after a near-defeat by Kaga, Azur Lane still pushes forward and everyone console with each other.
    • Thorson gives Ark Royal a shoulder to cry on and later gives a Cooldown Hug to Warspite who informs her Knight Commander that because of him, many lives had been saved despite the defeat.
  • Just the idea that Kasumi and Shigure choosing to abandon Sakura Empire and to be with their families and friends is touching.
  • The introduction of Manjuu and how the Kansen interact with them is quite endearing.
  • Once arriving at her new home of Azur Lane, Yukikaze cries in happiness to see Shiranui again. Do recall that Shiranu has been alone; separated from her sisters who most likely grieve over her demise and now it seems fate has decide to throw a bone. The two shipgirls embrace each others and Shiranui in one of the rarest of moments, smiles happily.
  • Tennessee finally getting to reunite with her sister, California.
  • The Kansen having an Easter Sunday which ends with them singing John Denver's Take Me Home, Country Roads.
    • When the song is playing, Brookyln comes up from behind Thorson and hugs him.
    • Prior to that, Naka joins Azur Lane and everyone, especially Downes, couldn't be happier.
  • Chapter 54 has all of Azur Lane prove their True Companions status.
    • When Rear Admiral Spruance treats Yamashiro poorly due to her Sakura heritage, it's Arizona coming in to protect her best friend.
    • Thorson can take a lot of crap but once you dare threaten to take away his Kansen, all bets are off. Thankfully, he didn't have to when Pennsylvania and ALL the Kansen do it for him; AND things gets even more intense when the Kansen are willingly prepared to kill Spruance when he tries to shoot Thorson.
    • Even after all that's happened, the Kansen, formerly of Eagle Union, still regard Enterprise as one of their own.
    • With most of Azur Lane's fleet heading out to fight, everyone talks to those who are to stay at the base before they do.
  • Captain Sherman is another one that proves that not all of Eagle Union are prejudiced towards Kansen. At first, he was hesitant to trust Commander Thorson considering that his defiance against Spruance has made him AWOL but seeing Lexington in pain causes him take the risk on being court-martialed.
  • Eagle Union Aircraft Carriers get treated a lot better compared to their sisters-in-arms. Thankfully, they do see them as people, rather than using them for their skills.
  • Chapter 58 has Yuudachi, Yukikaze and Shiranui vowing to stand by their respective partners' side is nothing short of 'dawww' feels.
    • In the same chapter, both Downes and Ooshio confess their feelings to each other. And now Downes has something else to come back to.
  • Chapter 59: Even though there's a possibility Ayanami might be among the enemy Sakura Empire, Laffey chooses to fight her all to ensure her Commander's safety. Thorson in turn, promises that Ayanami would be avoided at all costs, knowing how much the girl is important to his little bunny Kansen.
    • And after such a nice bath, Laffey, Javelin, Z23, and Thorson sleep together. Awww!!!
    • Then there's Z23 who is finally restored to her normal, healthier self along with gaining back her courage.
  • Chapter 63: Thorson and Ark Royal kiss after having survived the Battle of Midway. Now, both can come back to their little destroyers who Thorson regards as his children.

  • Chapter 65:
    • Thorson and Brooklyn are at the office pushing forward in requesting medals for their Kansen.
    • Even if they might get in trouble for doing this, Yuudachi and Yukikaze help smuggling Hammann into Azur Lane is sweet.
    • Thorson proves what a good man he is when Enterprise asks to talk to him which he'll make time with but he advises the Kansen to be with her sisters.
    • Crossing with Tear Jerker, Lexington, Saratoga, Captain Buckmaster and Captain Mitscher join with Enterprise in coming to Azur Lane base to attend Yorktown and Hornet's funerals.
  • Chapter 66:
    • When Fredrick gets harassed by the Eagle Union sailors, Azur Lane didn't hesitate to come to his defense leading to an all-out brawl.
    • Then the final portion of the chapter reveals that there is a chance to revive Hornet.
  • Chapter 67:
    • Everything about Hornet's resurrection is this.
    • When Enterprise arrives at the mess hall, she sees Hornet waiting for her, along with California and Cleveland. It's nice that not all of the Azur Lane Kansen resent her.
  • Chapter 71:
    • Tennessee is the first to respond to Thorson's aid after Arizona informed everyone about him dying.
    • When Ark Royal begins to fall into despair after learning about her fate in the other timelines, Thorson intervenes, saying to her that unlike them, she has something that they hadn't: him.
    • Laffey, Javelin and Z23 are finally about to reunite with Ayanami who is more than happy to abandon the mission to be with them.
