• Hilarious in Hindsight: Akashi defects to Azur Lane in opposition against Akagi and Kaga. In the anime (which began airing on October, just six months after this chapter's original upload in late March), her counterpart does the same action.
• Ship-to-Ship Combat: Commander Thorson and his shipgirls.
• The Woobie:
  • Laffey's life before she meets Thorson was horrible. Being mistreated, living in a cold room, and being devoid of companionship led her to drink to forget all this.
  • The Iron Blood shipgirls got the worst treatment compared to their equals in the other factions. It would be amazing to see them stay sane.
  • Enterprise. She was meant to be the best of Eagle Union's carriers but that position make her a target of scorn and envy by her comrades. Then the Battle of Midway came and things went downhill from there, losing both her sisters and so many of her men and she was completely powerless to stop it.
  • Same to Hammann as well, having witness the death of her older sister and later, her sister figure, Yorktown. It's no wonder why she left Eagle Union.
