Awesome / Chronicles of the Siren War

Go To

  • Laffey's first engagement following the obtaining of her rigging. She saves Captain Stevens and his men from Sakura Empire ships.
  • The Sirens prove themselves why they are the Big Bads as they swarm over the Azur Lane fleet.
  • In an Offscreen Moment of Awesome, our little ship girl, Queen Elizabeth turns down the Deal with the Devil and spits right back at the Siren forces. No one messes with Royal Navy.
  • In another Offscreen Moment of Awesome, after being subjected to cruel experiments, the Kriegsmarine rebelled and blasted their former High Command to kingdom come. Couldn't happen to a bunch of nicer guys.
  • The Battle Of Java Sea has several noteworthy events:
    • Laffey's Annihilation Mode and the fear of it is certainly justified. Jintsuu's fleet learned the hard way when Laffey's ship fires its cannon and the blast not only destroys the number of ships but vaporizes them to nothing. If Kaga hadn't intervened, the Battle of Java Sea would have been an Azur Lane victory.
    • Tennessee and Downes choosing to get close personal with the enemy; AKA Hand-to-Hand combat against them. Special mention goes to Tennessee who fires a shell right at Jintsuu's neck '''AT POINT BLANK RANGE!!" before ripping out the corrupted Wisdom Shard out of her.
    • Downes achieving her Retrofit form.
    • Yuudachi gets one for Outrun the Fireball before proceeding to calling Kaga out as a whore and for tarnishing Amagi's memory. You got that? A little dog girl manages to get under Kaga's skin.
    Kaga: SHINE! note
    • A villainous moment for Kaga who takes advantage of the Sirens' technology and unleashing a barrage of fighters and bombers to get Azur Lane to retreat. It's a feat that impresses Tester.
  • John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" played by West Virginia herself.
    • In Chapter 59, West Virginia plays a "big guns" themed version of Sabaton's Midway.
  • All of the Azur Lane Kansen make it clear where their allegiance lies when they point their guns, cannons, torpedoes and any assortment of arsenal at Admiral Spruance who has been a colossal Jerkass throughout the chapter. Thorson even gets on this and tells off his commanding officer and he did this all the while being polite and respectful like the Nice Guy he is.
  • Just when Yorktown's fleet's numbers are up, Azur Lane steps in to save the day.
    • Not only that, they succeed in saving Lexington's life, averting her real-life fate.
  • MIDWAY!
    • The Eagle Union maybe outnumbered and outgunned but they didn't go down without a fight. Several of the pilots attempt to ram their planes against Sakura's ships. Sure, it didn't work but this is a testament to their dedication and loyalty to their country; something Souryuu takes note of and respects.
      • It's only until a squadron of Dauntless bombers appear that the tide begins to shift. The aircrafts have surprise the Sakura who tries hastily to shoot them down. This becomes downplayed as Sakura Empire manages to withstand the attack.
    • Azur Lane launches their aircrafts but Ark Royal tops them all by sending out her P-40's, fully armed. Thorson, Tennessee, Laffey, Javelin, California, Z23, and the others couldn't be even more happier for her.
  • Another villainous example for Sakura Empire is that their Aircraft Carriers survived the Battle of Midway. You didn't hear wrong; Akagi, Kaga, Souryuu amd Hiryuu; ALL FOUR of them got out of there in one piece. In fact, they were actually winning the battle until Azur Lane stepped in to help their comrades.
    • Azur Lane deserves as much credit as the enemy Sakura. Their aircrafts start to overwhelm them and eventually, all of the Sakura's escorts have sunk. WITHOUT a loss of Kansen life.
  • Chapter 62 has Azur Lane unveiling their counterattack against Sakura Empire. Every skills, powers and experience each members of Azur Lane gained across the 60+ Chapters is put into use. After the Sakura Empire having dominated in most of their fights against Azur Lane, it's satisfying to have Akagi and Kaga being knocked down many pegs; showing fear and anger for the first time when Azur Lane overwhelms them.
    • The Big Seven and Cleveland set up an amazing anti-air defense that decimates Sakura's planes, proving that the "Age of Dreadnoughts" isn't over. The best part is that one ship was destroying a lot of them before the others join in and take care of the rest.
    • When Hiei makes an attempt on Thorson's life, Laffey returns in kind by wrecking her and her ship. The only reason Hiei's body survives from the plasma attack, albeit barely, is because she had poured all her power into her barrier.
    • Arizona using Eagle's Tears to heal her comrades, allowing them to push forward for the final offensive.
    • And lastly, Tennessee ends the amazing Curb-Stomp Battle by sailing right at Hiryuu and slices her ship in half.
    • At the end of the chapter, Azur Lane WON the Battle of Midway.
  • Props to Souryuu in finding out about the Red Wisdom Shards and have it removed by herself.
  • With help from Azur Lane, Enterprise brings her sister, Hornet back from the dead.
    • Hornet then reveals that while trying to save her, Enterprise went up against some cosmic entity and having no weapons with her, she decides to use her fists to punch its lights out. Let me repeat: Enterprise beats down an Eldritch Abomination using her Bare Hands! After suffering defeat, humiliation and trauma at the Battle of Midway, Enterprise regains some of her credentials as The Ace.
  • On the second day following her gaining riggings, Enterprise took down Ark Royal during a war game.
  • Chapter 68 finally has the Kansen of Azur Lane getting the recognition they deserve. Almost everyone receives medals for their outstanding performances at the Battle of Midway.
  • Minneapolis is the star of Chapter 70:
    • She has to sneak pass through a giant fire tornado guarded by dozens of warships to get to Akagi. And how does she do it? She latches on one of Kasumi's torpedoes to do it all the while smiling like a madwoman.
    • Then there's the fight between Minneapolis and Akagi.
  • Chapter 71 is just full of surprises.
    • Thorson becoming a human/Kansen hybrid and now has an even better Psychic Link which is basically the "Azur Lane" game screen which players are familiar with all the time.
      • Props to SabatonBabylon for providing an In-Universe explanation to that mechanic.
    • Ark Royal evolves into Ark Royal META.
