Book I—One Decade of Peace
Before Hogwarts
Chapter 10
- Harry meeting Ron, Hermione, and Ginny during his first day at the Magical Preschool. For the first time in his life, he has real friends.
Chapter 11
- Hermione's speech in front of the class after Remus reveals his lycanthropy to the children.
- Neville befriending the group (including Luna, whom Harry had met face-to-face for the first time earlier).
- Ron beating Hermione in their chess rematch becomes this as she recognizes that her arrogance in challenging Ron resulted in him creaming her multiple times (as she challenged him to five games in a row for the rematch). When she admits that she had screwed up badly in trying to befriend them, the other five draw her into a group hug.
Chapter 12
- Harry confronting Dudley on his behavior since the Dementor attack and agreeing that while they won't become friends (at least for now), they'll at least tolerate each other from now on.
Book II—Journey to Magic
Year One—The Philosopher's Stone
Chapter 14
- Dudley befriending Millicent Bulstrode and Daphne Greengrass on the Hogwarts Express.
Chapter 18
- Dudley and Millicent are staying at Hogwarts during Christmas Break (the former because his parents are still uncomfortable about the whole magic thing and the latter because her parents already made plans), which leads to them discovering the Mirror of Erised. As they're looking at said Mirror, Millie sees herself as an Amazonian Beauty while Dudley sees himself at Hogwarts' graduation with his parents, Millie & Daphne, and Harry all proud of him. This leads to Dudley revealing his connection to Harry as well as their unfortunate past to his friends.
Year Two—The Chamber of Secrets
Chapter 24
- The meeting between the Six and the Slytherin Trio (Dudley, Millicent, and Daphne) at Hagrid's hut.
Chapter 25
- After discovering the location of the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, Harry tells Dudley that he won't hold it against him if he refuses to join him and Ron in entering the chamber. Dudley decides to join them anyways since Millie's life is in danger.
Chapter 27
- At the end of year ceremony, Dudley and the Six are given a special award for their actions in ending the Basilisk crisis, contributing in their own way such as...
- Gathering information and relying on a sharp mind and wits (for Hermione and Luna)
- Decisive action to alert the faculty (for Neville)
- Standing up for what is right, despite the suffering involved (for Ginny)
- Using their strength and wits to stand firm against the danger (for Harry, Ron, and Dudley)
- This results in thundering applause from all tables, including a majority of the Slytherins, not only due to one of them being honored, but because many were sick of being seen as the "bad guys" due to the "rotten eggs" in their basket.
Year Three—The Prisoner of Azkaban
Chapter 29
- Daphne introduces her sister Astoria to Dudley. After Astroia admits that nobody wants to be friends with her because of her shyness as well as others not wanting to talk to Slytherin material, Dudley tells her that she doesn't have to end up in Slytherin if it doesn't fit her and also to be honest with the Sorting Hat. Indeed, when it is her time to be Sorted, the Hat places her in Hufflepuff.
