Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS: Father Thy Blood
is a fanfic story written by Cameron Stein set in an alternate universe set after season 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS rewriting the whole events of season 3.
Dr. Kogami has returned, but somehow, no one can see him, except for his own son. Soon, Ryoken has lost his mind when his father keeps haunting and is on a verge of madness. Will Yusaku help him or will Ryoken somehow kill himself?
This story is in a slow progress with only 13 chapters.

- In this story, Ryoken was once referred as "Ryomi" by Kanata since childhood, and even after he avoided Kanata for 10 years, she still calls him that and he doesn't want anyone calling him his nickname except for Kanata. He is also been given the nickname "Ryo-Ryo" by Nobuyuki.
- Kanata is commonly referred as “Kanashi” by Ryoken since childhood and still refers her even after he avoided her.
- Tomone is commonly referred as “Tomo-chan” by her closest friends.
- All-Loving Heroine: Kanata's cheerful demeanour, undying optimism, and kindness is what earns everyone around her.
- Always Identical Twins: Eiichi and Eito are identical twins in real life and the only way to know which is which is their Link VRAINS avatars and their hair color and shirts. Eiichi is Brick, who has dark blue hair and is wearing a forest green tank top, while Eito is Brock, who has forest green hair and is wearing a dark blue tank top.
- Beef Bandage: Tomone places a frozen steak on Ryoken's left eye after Takeru punched him.
- Best Friend: Nobuyuki to Ryoken after being defended from Tanaka
- Big Good: Kanata plays a big part in the story. her understanding and empathy do more to encourage Ryoken along the path to redemption while fighting cancer serves as her character arc.
- Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Kanata is this (as the cheerful and nurturing Gentle Girl) to Ryoken’s insecure Brooding Boy. Her emotional support and faith in Ryoken inspires him to believe in himself again.
- Character Tics: Misaki frequently clasps her hands together of clutches her face whenever she’s anxious or joyful.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Tomone doesn’t approve of any girl whenever they get too close to Nobuyuki (with exception of Kanata and Moriko).
- Color Motif: Purple for Kanata and Red for Tomone
- Cute Clumsy Girl: Misaki may not be light on her feed, but she’s endearingly klutzy in her way.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Moriko wears dark clothes topped with a black leather jacket, but she was far from evil.
- Deadpan Snarker: Moriko never holds back her sass.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Well, more like Defrosting Ice King. Nobuyuki was rude to Ryoken when Ryoken transferred to the mental hospital, but he quickly warmed up to Ryoken after he defended him from Tanaka.
- Deuteragonist: Kanata plays an important role in this story.
- Dope Slap: Brick and Brock get this from Razor to shut them up as Mystery lies to protect them from getting fired from Sarge.Brick: Hey, wait a minute!

Both: OW! - Drill Sergeant Nasty: Sarge acts towards Mystery and the other duelists who are in training to be hunters to hunt down hackers in Link VRAINS.
- Endearingly Dorky - Misaki is described as socially awkward yet charmingly silly. Some even find her amusing and adorable.
- Extreme Doormat - Initially, this is due to Misaki's history of being a frequent victim of bullying, which caused her to have low self-esteem.
- Face of a Thug: On the outside, Nobuyuki may look like anyone’s typical drinker. But on the inside, he’s a sweet, caring guy deep down in spite this.
- First Kiss: In the flashback chapter, Ryoken, when he was 13 years old, has his first kiss with Kaede, a 16 year old girl, and that was only for a dare.
- Genki Girl:
- Kanata is the most cheerful, optimistic girl with a sweet-natured demeanour. Even with cancer, she remains strong and optimistic.
- Tomone’s extremely cheerful, active, and upbeat.
- Hartman Hips: Moriko has a pear-shaped figure, giving her a more feminine appearance.
- I See Dead People: Ryoken is the only person here who is able to see his late father which is the whole plot of the story.
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy:
- Kanata wishes for Ryoken to continue living his life regardless if she makes it out of her cancer or not.
- Misaki loves Takeru but has the patience to wait whether he reciprocates or not, considering that actively pursuing him and rushing it would be selfish.
- Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Kanata is kind and sweet to everyone (or almost), no matter how rude they are to her. Well, there are exceptions, like Tanaka...
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Beneath his grumpy exterior, Nobuyuki proves to be a kind person who cares about his friends and helps them in need.
- Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Misaki, Tomone, and Chika are the light while Airi and Moriko are the dark, and they are all good people.
- Living Emotional Crutch: Ryoken and Kanata are this for each other. Even when they are separated, they draw strength to keep moving forward by thinking they will be together again.
- Nice Girl: Tomone is very sweet-natured, kind, and helpful to everyone around her.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Ryoken stands up to Tanaka for Nobuyuki when Tanaka was messing with Nobuyuki. By almost strangling Tanaka when Ryoken jumps onto Tanaka and grabs hold of Tanaka’s neck.
- No Sense of Personal Space: Tomone frequently gets too close when it comes to Nobuyuki.
- Positive Friend Influence: Kanata being able to relate to Ryoken proves to be a huge influence on his reformation.
- Sigh of Love: Tomone often does this when daydreaming about Nobuyuki.
- Stalking is Love: Averted. While he is irritated with Tomone being constantly clingy of him, Nobuyuki is genuinely touched by her acts of kindness and friendship.
- Tareme Eyes:
- Kanata has a pair of soft, gentle eyes that emphasizes her cheerful optimism and innocence.
- Tomone has a pair of round eyes that emphasizes her cheerful and sweet personality
- Team Mom: As the oldest and most levelheaded of Ryoken's friend group, Moriko keeping the gang in check and is the first to befriend Ryoken during his first day at the mental hospital. She is the voice of reason, willing to lend an ear to their problems at heart. Moriko also appears to be the most protective of her friends, especially when she suspects something was bothering them.
- The Lancer: Nobuyuki is this to Ryoken after he defended him from Tanaka. Whenever Ryoken is absent, Nobuyuki often fills in for him as the head.
- The Pollyanna: For all the symptoms of her cancer and obstacles she dealt with, Kanata is surprisingly chipper and optimistic about her whole situation.
- Town Girls: That’s basically the female characters in this story. The femme are Kanata, Misaki, Miyu, and Tomone. The butch is Moriko. The only ones who aren’t femme and butch are Airi and Chika. Aoi is both femme and butch.
- Tsundere: Nobuyuki is this towards Ryoken (initially) and Tomone, mostly due to his issues of adjusting in the mental hospital.
- Tsurime Eyes: Moriko has a pair of sharp, slender eyes topped with mahogany eyeshadow that emphasizes her maturity, coolness, and level-headedness.
