Perry Platynis had always expected to live the eternal bachelor's life: lonely apartment, instant food, dating to pass the time. But when a midnight phone call leaves him in charge of his young cousin, he begins a journey that leads to a family he never expected but wouldn't trade for the world.

A Phineas and Ferb fanfic.

Yours, Mine, and Ours contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Heroism: Not that Doof is truly villainous in canon but here he's a pediatrician with no interest in villainy.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: Phineas and Ferb natch. Candace, Vanessa and human!Norm too.
  • Apologizes a Lot: Norm due to the training of the orphanage he's from.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Though Ferb and Vanessa are initially often at odds, when Vanessa goes over to her mother's for the first time after Perry, Ferb and the twins move in, Ferb is noticeably melancholy and Perry notices the presence of this trope.
  • Bash Sibs: How Ferb and Vanessa's relationship starts off.
  • Camp Gay: Pinky.
  • Cool Big Sis: Both Candace and Vanessa to the boys.
  • Death by Adaptation: Linda and Lawrence both passed away while still married to their respective first spouses, who are confirmed as deceased here in contrast to canon's non-answer.
  • Elder Sibling Instinct: Ferb takes to acting as an older sibling to the twins swiftly as do Candace, Phineas and Vanessa with the girls quickly taking to big sistering Ferb. Vanessa is even more worried about how a divorce between her father and Perry would affect Ferb and the twins than how it would affect her. Norm ends up meeting the family because of this trope, finding a lost and terrified Phineas at a Christmas celebration and immediately running over to help the poor kid find his fathers.
    • This trope is also revealed to be the reason Doof has the career he does in this world. After caring for an ill Roger when the two were children, Doof decided that he wanted to ensure children were healthy, leading to his current career as a pediatrician.
  • Everyone Can See It: Doof and Perry. Ferb figures out about Perry's attraction to Doof the day the pair meet the doctor. Pinky figures it out without even meeting Doof.
    • Non-romantic example: Perry's paternal feelings for Ferb are obvious to those around him before Perry even has an inkling.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Perry is a detective rather than a secret agent; Linda and Lawrence as well as their then-spouses died instead of the first 2 ending up single and marrying; Doof was made the Flynn children's godfather at some point in the story's past; and Doof became a pediatrician instead of a mad scientist.
  • Happily Adopted: Ferb ultimately by Perry and Phineas and Candace are perfectly content living with Doof. When Doof and Perry start living together after Perry loses his house, Phineas takes quickly to calling Perry "Papa Perry" and the kids are thrilled when the adults start dating. Later human!Norm is taken in by the family and Ferb's social worker is well-aware that he'll be happier with Doof and Perry rather than the orphanage.
  • Heteronormative Crusader: Doof's parents. Doof kicks them out of his house when they turn up on Thanksgiving and try to make him get rid of Perry, Ferb and the twins.
    • Pinky's parents were this too. They kicked him out of the house when he came out at 16 and he's still estranged from them in current day.
  • Homosexual Reproduction: Averted but Perry does note that his son Max looks very like Doof.
  • If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: Roger pulls this on Perry about Doof. Perry finds it quite scary.
  • Innocent Inaccurate: All of the kids decide that Phineas' logic on calling Perry "Papa" ("Dad is 'Dad' so that makes Perry 'Mom' but he's a boy so we can't call him 'Mom' so he's 'Papa'.") is perfectly sound. Additionally it turns out that Vanessa's coolness with Perry is due to her believing that he and her father are already married and not wanting them to split up like her parents did and force a custody arrangement like the one her parents have on Ferb and the twins.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Perry still works for Monogram and with Pinky, Peter and Carl; Phineas and Ferb still become best friends and eventually stepbrothers and Phineas still befriends Isabella.
  • Is That Cute Kid Yours?: Perry gets this with Ferb a lot and pulls this trope on Doof the day he meets Phineas and Candace, assuming they're Doof's biological kids.
  • Known Only by Their Nickname: Perry and Pinky are nicknames for Perranule and Pinkarter respectively but neither name is used often.
  • Named After Someone Famous: An odd example. Perry's son Max's full name is Maximus, in reference to the horse in Tangled.
  • Orphanage of Fear: Where Norm is from.
  • Papa Wolf: Doof and Perry towards any child under their care.
  • Parental Abandonment: Perry's ex-girlfriend Lyla signs away her rights to their twin sons as soon as the birth is over and walks out of their lives forever, leaving the twins (later named Ethan and Maximus/Max by Perry and Ferb respectively) in Perry's care. Plus, unlike in canon, Linda and Lawrence, AND both Linda's first husband and Lawrence's first wife, are confirmed to have died, leaving Phineas, Ferb, and Candace as orphans.
  • Punny Name: Perry, Pinky and Peter's surnames (Platynis, Chinchua and Pandernick respectively) are all puns based on the animal species they are in canon.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Human!Perry is Ferb's cousin here while human!Pinky is Vivian's nephew and therefore Isabella's cousin.
  • Ship Sinking: Since Ferb and Vanessa view each other as siblings, Ferbnessa is shot down before it can even start.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Vanessa. She's initially cold to Perry but bonds with the twins and Ferb quickly (albeit with a Bash Sibs relationship with the latter) and is thrilled when Perry and her father officially become a couple
  • Sweet Tooth: Perry
  • The Cameo: When Perry takes Ferb to the mall for shopping and they go into a toy store, the owner who detects Ferb's issues and comforts both boy and guardian is heavily hinted to be North.
  • Together in Death: Linda and Lawrence died in the same accidents that also still killed their then-spouses, as opposed to canon, where the first 2 survived and married each other.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: While not brought up much, Ferb adores pears.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: Doof according to human!Perry; it's the first sign of Perry being attracted to Doof.
  • When She Smiles: The smile Vanessa gives human!Perry when he promises he'll never chose to leave her father is described by Perry as room-lightingly beautiful.
  • Why Did It Have To Be Hospitals: Ferb's terrified of hospitals due to believing they take people away after the deaths of his parents.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Ferb and Vanessa. The former's state is lampshaded by Perry asking if Ferb's sure he's not an adult in a child's body, prompting Ferb to stick out his tongue at the man.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: When something serious happens in Pinky and Perry's working relationship, they use each other's full names.
