Fanfic / My Hero SCP

Go To

The world is filled with anomalies of various kinds, and many are used to benefit society. While dangerous villains exist, there are many who rise up with powers of their own, either with Quirks they are born with or using Objects of Power to enhance themselves. This is the story of a young team of students, dreaming to be heroes. Through sweat and tears, they will accomplish their dreams, led by one young man destined to become the next Symbol of Peace.

My Hero SCP is a My Hero Academia fanfic created by mtnetsurfer that crosses over with various mediums, most notably the SCP Foundation. It can be found here.

Now comes with a series of side stories called My Hero SCP One-Shots, which can be found here.

There's also a side story explaining the history of the Persona 5 hero team, the Shadows, prior to meeting Midoriya, which can be found here.

My Hero SCP contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Izuku, who was Quirkless in Canon, is instead born with a Quirk named Regeneration, which allows him to heal from just about anything imaginable and become more resistant to the damage afterward. This goes great when it blends with One For All.
    • All Might is The Paragon as always, but in addition to One For All, he also possesses a Quirk that increases his muscle mass and physical strength.
    • The Combined Combatant is shown to be stronger than in Gokaiger due to having eleven more Combatants to work with (Gormin through Kudakk) and being more willing to work together via communication.
  • Adaptational Heroism: There are many notable instances:
    • Himiko Toga is not a Villain and instead a Hero-in-Training thanks to being rescued and subsequently adopted by Vlad King.
    • Many of the initially hostile SCP objects such as 173, 049, and 682 are Pro Heroes in this universe.
    • D-Class in SCP lore are typically criminals, with many on Death Row. Here they serve the role of simulated civilians in need of rescue, with the "D" standing for "distress".
    • Yuno Gasai is a hero student of Class 1-B instead of a psychotic Yandere.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Several instances, actually.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Neito Monoma is the UA traitor in this story instead of Yuga Aoyama.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Many of the SCP monsters are turned into human Quirk users.
  • Adaptation Name Change: The SCP now stands for Superhero Central Protectorate.
    • Several Class A students wind up with new hero code names. Aoyama names himself Captain Sparkle, Mina gets to keep her original choice of Alien Queen, Bakugo goes with Dynamite, Todoroki selects Freezerburn, and Midoriya decides to name himself Midorang.
  • Adapted Out: The doctor who tells Inko that Izuku is Quirkless is replaced with Amelia Buck.
  • Amplifier Artifact: The Objects of Power, anomalous items that can give a bonded holder superpowers similar to a Quirked human. They typically only bond to the Quirkless, but exceptions do exist, such as Midoriya's Zero Driver.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Happens to three people, with very different results afterward:
    • During the USJ incident, a shark villain manages to rip Midoriya's arm off. This has little consequence since it grows back within seconds.
    • As the training camp arc winds down, Banananasher bites off Dabi's arm. This ultimately leads to Dabi's death.
    • Foxfire/SCP-953 gets her arm blown off by Overhaul. Luckily Shimura is able to get to her quick and replace it with a virtual replica that she can control.
  • Anti-Magic: Telekill alloy, a special metal that can temporarily shut down a person's Quirk on contact (similar to Aizawa's Erasure Quirk) and nullify any Quirk-based ability that impacts it (i.e. it could nullify a Quirk-based fire blast, but not a flamethrower). Various authority personnel use it to contain Quirked villains upon capture, and Tartarus Prison has walls lined with the material.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: Downplayed, but the world of My Hero SCP does possess a potent anomalous energy source called pseudo-digital energy. It can be generated by certain Quirks, such as Infinite's Virtual Reality or Necronomicon's Forbidden Knowledge, and it's been noted to have been used in the past to fuel technology to power otherwise Quirkless superheroes. Its primary function is to create solid digital constructs outside a digital environment, which can only be disrupted by physical force.
  • Ascended Extra: The League of Villains has four notable examples:
    • Innsmouth was only shown in an anime-only episode, and is only considered canon by virtue of a throwaway line from Asui regarding helping to deal with smugglers and the hero she was interning with, Selkie, showing up later in the manga.
    • Wolfram was only featured in a tie-in movie whose canonicity is questionable, due to the lead-up to it only being shown in an anime-only episode.
    • Gear Woman/SCP-2878 is actually Eri's mother, who was only ever mentioned but never appeared onscreen.
    • Toxic Chainsaw hasn't even made an appearance in any official media, only being mentioned briefly during Midoriya's first meeting with All Might.
  • Big Brother Is Watching: The Quirk of Serpenshia, aka SCP-3000. He can attach a black ooze to criminals that will keep them confused and unable to commit any crimes without feeling like Serpenshia is watching them.
    • A more straight example is Vigorshy/SCP-096, who can home in on any criminal who sees his face, even if it's just a photograph. He keeps his mugshot along his normal patrol route to facilitate this.
  • Central Theme: Two are most prevalent:
    • The first is in regards to the famous phrase "All men are created equal". While most think that just means everyone is born the same, the main theme is that the phrase truly means that everyone is born entitled to the same rights.
    • The second is in regards to how heroes in modern society work. Pro heroes are shown to be just another rescue service, with a touch of celebrity action on the side. Basically, global Hero Association pros are true superheroes that just happen to be celebrities, while Vought's corporate heroes are just celebrities billed as superheroes.
  • Combining Mecha: The Dragonslayer, a giant robot designed to counter Gigantomachia. It's primarily piloted by Midorang while using the Press Quirk, though the Big Three pilot the vehicle portions individually.
  • Crossover: Of My Hero Academia and the SCP Foundation. Appearances by characters and elements from Persona 5, Control, Twisted Metal, Kamen Rider Zero-One, Super Sentai, The Boys (2019), Miraculous Ladybug, Future Diary, and Juni Taisen: Zodiac War are featured as well.
  • Crossover Relatives: All for One and Monoma are sons of the Crimson Death AKA SCP-001/The Scarlet King.
  • Death by Adaptation: So far, Samuel Abraham, Dabi, All for One, and Skeptic have bit the dust. Sam gets shot dead by Wolfram. Dabi is brutally ripped apart by Bananasher/SCP-2761. All for One dies from the injuries inflicted on him by All Might. And Skeptic is fatally stabbed by the Combined Combatant.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Gran Torino is mentioned in the fic's version of Izuku's beach training, long before he actually appears.
  • Grey-and-Gray Morality: How society is ultimately meant to work. Villains do evil things... But should never go too far or else they'll have nothing left. Heroes should always strive to bring peace... But must be prepared to wage war in order to do so.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Midoriya says this almost word for word when Kota punches him in the balls.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Just like in the original My Hero Academia, All for One. At least until he dies, at which point the role goes to his father, the villain Crimson Death.
  • Handicapped Badass: SCP-939 is turned into Junko Asahi/Endo Hound, a blind hero who can track criminals using endothermic vision and whose Quirk is a breath-based gas that gives causes amnesia to make them return to the scene of the crime.
  • Heroic Lineage: During the second year summer vacation, Midoriya learns that he's descended from an actual Kamen Rider, specifically Aruto Hiden. He even inherits a modified version of the Zero-One Driver, simply called the Zero Driver.
  • Lighter and Softer: The manga has tackled some serious issues and has not been afraid to showcase death and despair. While this story still has some serious moments, the atmosphere is overall much more hopeful than canon.
  • My Suit Is Also Super: Various heroes use costumes made from genetic fibers that allow their gear to benefit from their Quirks (i.e. Midorang's suit can repair itself if he should ever take excessive damage, Invisible Girl can turn her costume invisible when her body does it, etc.).
  • Mythology Gag: Endo Hound's Quirk is called Amnestic Breath. Amnestics are frequently mentioned in SCP documents as being used to selectively erase the memories of witnesses who see anomalous forces.
    • When Midoriya unlocks Ancestor Speak (one of the Quirks attached to One For All) one of the vestiges calls him beansprout. This is likely meant to be Nana Shimura, who called him as such in Yesterday Upon The Stair.
    • Shinso's hero code name of Mindblank and his training camp scenario with Toga were both taken from Deku? I think he's some pro....
    • His epithet of "The Sinister Hero" also harkens back to Cursed Blood.
    • Hound Dog is mentioned to use the "break like a candy cane or bend like licorice" metaphor, just like he did in Deku? I think he's some pro....
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Two pairs of individuals (Elle-Ate and Daybreaker, Milady and Banananasher) share last names without being related.
  • Point of Divergence: Where to even begin?!
    • Midoriya manifesting his Regeneration Quirk makes Bakugo think more highly of him, taking back his earlier assertion that any Quirk Midoriya gets can't possibly be better than Explosion. The two remain friends as a result and train for years to become heroes when they get older.
    • A combination of Bakugo being let in on the secret of One For All and Midoriya's Regeneration helps him understand how to properly use it much earlier. To help matters, All Might brings in a second teacher since he realizes he's not fully qualified to teach. Enter Endo Hound.
    • Midoriya's greater control of One For All let's him ace the UA Entrance Exam with way more Villain and Rescue points than in canon, making him the class valedictorian instead of Bakugo.
    • In general, the presence of the SCP Foundation completely supplants the Hero Public Safety Commission, resulting in far less corruption in hero society since the O5 Council is more interested in the safety of the people than whatever power they might have over the world's heroes.
    • In this world, Aoyama was born with Navel Laser, meaning he is never made into All For One's secret mole in UA. Instead, All For One makes use of his half-brother, Neito Monoma.
    • During the UA Sports Festival, Midoriya is able to defeat Todoroki after helping him break his mental limits regarding his Quirk. Thus Midoriya fights Bakugo in the final round. Because of the greater challenge and winning by the skin of his teeth, Bakugo takes his first-place victory with more grace and humility.
    • Ida is able to have a better talk with his brother Tensei after being crippled by Stain thanks to the presence of Depestilous/SCP-049. This leads to Ida taking the name Ingenium without reservation and not actively hunting Stain for revenge. Instead of interning with Manual, Ida chooses to train with Swift Sculpt/SCP-173.
    • Since Midoriya is able to control One For All much better, even unlocking several of the Quirks connected to it, he interns with Regenizard/SCP-682 instead of Grain Torino.
    • The events of the UA Sports Festival help Todoroki's relationship with Endeavor, with the latter recommending the former to intern with Infablaze/SCP-457.
    • The fight with Stain goes much better in the long run, ultimately resulting in Ida, Todoroki, and Midoriya getting partial credit for his arrest as sidekicks. Stain also sees his worldview shattered, and surrenders without issue.
    • The League of Villains winds up much different since Spinner, Compress, and Mustard never decide to join, Toga is found and ultimately adopted by Vlad King, and Dabi is murdered by Banananasher. Of the canon members of the League, only Shigaraki (later Shimura), Twice, and Magne still remain.
    • The USJ incident and training camp go badly for the League. Shigaraki learns that All Might isn't weakened as much as All For One thought (thanks to Depestilous healing him), and gets his fingers broken by Midoriya. Later, the League tries to attack the Wild Wild Pussycats, but this time they didn't know they were training Classes 1-A and 1-B, and even while escaping get Midoriya and Bakugo along as hitchhikers. The resulting raid on Kamino turns out even worse.
    • Due to being taken in by the other children of Crimson Death, and getting his original Quirk, Virtual Reality, back from All For One, Shigaraki rejects his crafted identity and goes back to being Tenko Shimura, with the new villain name of Infinite.
    • Monoma's poor performance and sportsmanship at the UA Sports Festival gets him kicked off the Hero Course, with Hitoshi Shinso taking his place.
    • Being more secure in his role as All Might's successor, Midoriya decides not to turn to Sir Nighteye for the work-study. Instead, he applies at the agency of Chain Hero, Valjean.
    • Thanks to help from Ren Amamiya/Arsene, Midoriya is able to save Eri from Overhaul much earlier than in canon.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Due to being children of Crimson Death (AKA SCP-001/The Scarlet King), All for One and Monoma Neito are essentially Half-Brothers.
  • Secret-Keeper: Only a select few like the O5 Council know of One For All. After meeting Izuku and Bakugo, All Might decides to let them in on it too.
  • Shout-Out: During his fight with Gentle Criminal, Midoriya recharges the calories he needs to fuel Regeneration using Super Gel Dero Doro Drink. Justified in that he got it from the Pan-Dimensional Vending Machine/SCP-261.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Several examples:
    • Magne's canon role of getting killed by Overhaul is traded over to Guilt/SCP-078. She instead lives on to become a regular member of the League of Villains.
    • Since the war with the Paranormal Liberation Army never happens, Twice is never killed by Hawks, living way past when he did in canon.
    • The above contributes to Midnight surviving well past when she would have timeline-wise, plus she decides to retire during the fake League of Villains incident.
    • Curious still fights Toga, but since Toga is a hero in this story she doesn't kill Curious. Instead, Curious is exposed as a villain and captured.
    • Rather than getting captured by The Boys and killed by Hughie, Translucent is captured by Cellophane and Chargebolt, then allowed to move to Japan with his family by the SCP Foundation.
    • Homelander gets de-powered and arrested before he gets a chance to target Supersonic, ensuring his survival.
    • Star and Stripe never encounters Shimura under All For One's influence (since All For One is dead by the time she enters the story) so she never gets killed either.
  • Super-Empowering: Compound V as usual, but there's a twist. A single dose can turn a Quirkless human into a super-abled human, activating the dormant Quirk factors in their DNA. If it's left to burn out naturally, they'll become a true Quirked human. But if they keep taking doses, then Compound V will actually inhibit the Quirk factors, making it harder for the Quirk to reach its full potential.
  • Super Special Move: After taking a level in badass, Twice can use his "Sad Man's Parade" while making copies of other people. Previously, he could only do so with copies of himself.
