Determined to fill his late father's wish, Izuku swore to protect the ring and he'll do so by using his latest invention, the Iron Man suit.

My Hero Academia: Armored Adventures is a video crossover between My Hero Academia and Iron Man. It is created by PowerCore Productions and part of the Anime X Marvel Phase 1. The series can be read here.

This contains the following tropes:

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: All Might is given his students' Makluan Rings, Black Panther's Vibranium, Izuku and Bakugou's tech and Momo's Nanite shield to fire a super-powered United States of Smash to defeat All For One and the Mandarin.
  • Adaptational Explanation: There was never an explanation on the inner workings of David's Quirk Enhancing Device and how it's able to boost a quirk users' abilities. This version of "Two Heroes'' reveals David Shield's Quirk-Enhancing Device is powered by the Life Ring.
  • Adaptation Deviation:
    • The first major change is Izuku not receiving One For All and the quirk was passed to Momo Yaoyorozu.
    • The heroes' failure in the Shie Hassakai raid resulted in a plot where Izuku being captured and the heroes desperately trying to rescue him.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • While Ochaco in Armored Adventures is friends with Izuku, their relationship is not as close as in the manga. Shang Chi is the one who fulfills that role.
    • Unlike in the movie where Shang Chi and the Mandarin did reconcile, the two remain hostile towards each other.
    • Wolfram only sees the kids as obstacles to claiming the Quirk-Enhancing Device. Here, he targets them once they realized they have the Makluan Rings.
    • James Rogers in Armored Adventures is a distant descendant of Steve Rogers rather than being the direct son of him.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Namor and the Talokanil are water-based quirk users who hid away in the deep sea during the time when quirks are less accepted.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Now being the one to receive One For All, Momo's already strong quirk becomes even more powerful. She not only has enhanced intelligence but she is also can create nanite-based constructs.
    • Having the Wasp tech, Melissa gets a chance to fight Wolfram and rescue her father.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Miruko only prominently appears in the Pro Hero arc. Here, she appears in Hosu City helping the Pro Heroes fighting the Nomus.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Izuku Midoriya in canon was far from dumb but in Armored Adventures, his intellect has been scaled up to Super Genius levels.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: This fic dials back Bakugou's Jerkass attitude after the boy learnt about his childhood friend's loss of his father and Izuku moving away. Still, he still has a little competitive streak with him.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Aoyama was a reluctant traitor that sold out U.A. to All For One. While he initially was but following the Kamino Raid Arc, he's driven to the breaking point that he aided Overhaul in creating the quirk-erasing bullets.
  • Adaptational Wealth: In this fic, the Midoriyas are rich enough to own a mansion and a laboratory for Izuku to work at.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Due to having not met All Might, Izuku never received One For All and remained Quirkless. That changed in Season 2 when One For All does passed on to Izuku.
  • Adaptation Distillation: The special has the plots of Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever merging into one with Killmonger seeking to seize the throne of Wakanda along with Namor and his people kidnapping Shuri.
  • Adapted Out: Wolfram's allies are removed and replaced with Whiplash and Radioactive Man.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Wakanda Forever has Bakugou and T'Challa teaming up to stop Killmonger and Namor.
  • Age Lift: Shang Chi and T'Challa's ages change to that of teenagers so that they'd be students at U.A. Academy.
  • All the Other Reindeer: James and his family suffer this. The super soldier serum that gave them their strength is also the reason no one in their family could gain any other quirk, especially after a Rogers marries a quirk user. Hence, quirk users distance from them like a plague.
  • Ascended Extra: Melissa Shield's only role was in the movie My Hero Academia: Two Heroes. In Armored Adventures, Melissa left I-Island to join U.A. with Izuku and the others.

  • The Caretaker: Jarvis Koshima was assigned by Mr. Midoriya to look after Inko and Izuku following his passing and has become a parental figure and mentor to young Izuku. The real reason Izuku's father chose Jarvis was for him to look after his family in case the Mandarin and his forces targeted them.

  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Momo does not like any girl getting close to Izuku. This first surfaces when Mei interacted with Izuku at the U.A. Sports Festival. Amusingly enough, an imaginary bad angel of herself appears.
  • Composite Character:
    • Shinsou is a mix between his canon counterpart and Hawkeye.
    • Melissa Shield becomes Wasp after developing Pym Particles.
    • Izuku gives Bakugou a new weaponized armor turning the latter into this universe's War Machine.

  • Forced to Watch: Aoyama executes Shinso right in front of Izuku who is too injured and heavily restrained to stop it.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Izuku chews out Aoyama that while the choice of becoming The Mole had been forced onto him by his parents, every action since the Kamino Raid, including helping Overhaul, kidnapping Izuku and others and murdering Shinso have been Aoyama's own choice and he has no one to blame but himself.

  • Mini-Mecha: By the time of the Training Camp arc, Izuku developed a new suit called the Juggernaut/Quirk Buster Armor. Izuku used this to fight Muscular.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Most of the Iron Man elements are based on Iron Man: Armored Adventures including his transforming backpack, the Makluan Rings, and the Mandarin Armor.
    • Izuku's various armors are based on versions from other media like the Silver Centurion armor is based on the characteristics of its Iron Man 2 counterpart and Izuku's suit for the Sports Festival is based on the comic book's classic Mark 3.
    • Izuku gave Shang Chi ten arm bands based on the ones from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, made from the destroyed Makluan Rings.
    • Izuku says he loves Momo three thousand times in reference to Tony talking to his daughter Morgan in Avengers: Endgame.
    • Bakugou commenting about Klaw having "really grown on you" is a line Bruce Banner had said about Loki in The Avengers (2012).
    • Crossbones and Captain America commenting about the lightning is one from The Avengers also.
  • No Man Should Have This Power: After the Makluan Rings were destroyed, Izuku, Shang Chi and the others noted that this is more of a blessing.
  • Outside-Context Problem:
    • Iron Man's armors are this to the world. Everyone like Aizawa acknowledges that the suits could one day be equal and even surpass the best heroes and villains.
    • The Makluan Rings are at their own level that if any villain were to get their hands, no Pro Hero could stand a chance against them.
    • In Season 2, the Quirkless have become this. Ever since Izuku's debut as Iron Man, people now wonder if there are any more like him out in the world. Hence, Nedzu and Aizawa have Izuku to find them and bring them to U.A. to avoid the possibility of them becoming villains.
  • Point of Divergence: Events in My Hero Academia changed differently due to Izuku becoming Iron Man.
    • Izuku and his mother moved away thus causing him to never go to his canon school and never meeting All Might. His new school he attended was where he befriended Momo Yaoyorozu.

    • Minoru Mineta is no longer part of the Hero Course and moves to General Studies. Because of this, his role at the USJ is replaced with Shang Chi.
    • Both Izuku and Todoroki lost their bout at the U.A. Sports Festival rather than Izuku losing to Todoroki.

    • Season 2 reveals that Aoyama has fled from U.A. after his role as The Mole had been exposed.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Both Todoroki's fire and ice quirks are meant to balance the other out for him but Todoroki refuses to use the former and continued overuse of his ice resulted in him suffering frostbite. Though, he manages to circumvent it through the use of the Ice Ring.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Shang Chi and Gene Khan are revealed to be brothers in this adaptation.
  • Ring of Power: The Makluan Rings are ancient artifacts with incredible power and is sought out by many villains, namely the Mandarin. One of the rings, namely the Power Ring became the centerpiece of Izuku's Arc Reactor while David Shield used the Life Ring to power his Quirk Enhancing Device.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: When Tenya calls out Izuku for breaking the rules to save his mother, Shang, and Bakugou, Izuku's response is this:
Izuku: I can sit here. I can do absolutely nothing. And in the eyes of everyone, I'd be justified. So what if my mother dies. So what if Bakugou and Shang die. It's not my fault. It's not my problem. I was only doing what the law told me to do, right. Huh? Is that what I'm supposed to tell myself? You think I can live like that? You think I want to live like that? I don't want to hide behind stupid laws? I don't want to wake up at night and try justify me being a coward and not doing what I could. You want to call me a villain? Well, go on ahead. I don't care. I'm going to save those I care about. I'm going to be there for the ones that need me. Because I am a Hero damnit and no one is going to tell me otherwise.
  • Spared By Adaptation:

    • Izuku's father passed the Power Ring to Izuku following the latter's death.
    • One For All like in canon can be passed from host to host. All Might gave the quirk to Momo who then transferred the power to Izuku. Played for Laughs as Izuku chose Amadeus to be the next successor and told him to either his hair or sweat to gain the power in case something happened to Izuku.
  • We Have Become Complacent: Nezu, Aizawa and a few U.A. Staff members feel this way following Aoyama's treachery and then turn to villainy which is why they begin Operation: SHIELD to keep a close eye on the students.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Season 1 Part 7 ends with Bakugou and Shang Chi captured by the League of Villains. It only got worse when Izuku found Jarvis murdered and his mother Inko being taken by the Ten Shadows.
