Amity and Luz in her dragon form
Human Zero is a Godzilla/The Owl House Fusion Fic written by Gojiratheking106 and Theukon_dos.

This fic subjects Luz to one of the most unusual cases of Crossover Relatives, as her father is none other than King Ghidorah.

Human Zero contains examples of:

  • Adapted Out: Manny, Luz's father in canon, doesn't appear in this fic.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Luz already had a lot of self-esteem issues growing up, but her status as a Half-Human Hybrid only makes her feel like an even bigger outcast compared to how she felt in canon. It escalates into a full-on identity crisis when Chen reveals her dad's extraterrestrial origin.
Luz: "What... What even am I?
  • Adaptational Badass: Not only can Luz shoot lightning out of her mouth like King Ghidorah, she can absorb magic like a basilisk, and even has the ability to transform into a bigger form that resembles King Ghidorah.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In Chapter 17, Luz in her Ghidorah form arrives just in time to rescue the Argo from Rodan.
  • Body Horror: Because Luz lacks a bile sac like most witches, her body isn’t used to all the magic she absorbs. This comes to a head in one chapter where Luz starts to grow various body parts to the point of requiring a gemstone implant to stabilize her condition. However, while Luz, Eda and King have to deal with Tibbles, Luz ends up absorbing so much magic, by the time they get to the Healers, Luz has essentially transformed into a Blob Monster who is still transforming while the Healers are trying to treat her.
  • Comic-Book Movies Don't Use Codenames: King Ghidorah is exclusively referred to as Monster Zero in this fic. The only mention of the word is in the narration when Grom takes on the form of the Kaiju. At least until the story returns to Earth and they find the tablet calling him that.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Even after she tried to kill Luz, Odalia doesn’t get why Alador and Amity would want to stop working for her.
  • Foreshadowing: In one chapter, Luz has a pretend conversation with her two hands, giving them their own voices. Later on, she develops the ability to transform into a monstrous form with two heads she’s capable of talking with.
  • Hero of Another Story: Godzilla has been mentioned multiple times in the story, but since he’s still in the Human Realm, he isn’t given a lot of focus in this fic.
  • Horrifying Hero: Even by the standards of the Demon Realm, Luz’s abilities are unnerving to say the least.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Edric notes that seeing Luz fight the Queen Slitherbeast in her dragon form reminds him of the movies.
  • Multiple Head Case: In her dragon form, Luz grows two additional heads with their own distinct personalities. The left head is called Luca, and the right head is called Lucia.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The fic’s title is a reference to the title the Xilians gave King Ghidorah in Invasion of Astro-Monster, “Monster Zero”.
    • Luz's decapitated head from the Conformatorium ends up being used in a similar way her "dad"'s head was in "Godzilla vs. Kong".
    • Luz defeats the Greater Basilisk by blasting lightning down its throat, just like how Godzilla defeated the female MUTO.
    • When Luz’s body starts to transform at the Healers, the one treating her calls for all trained personnel to help due to a “Code 1964”, a nod to the year King Ghidorah first appeared in a movie.
    • The outfits Lucia and Luca wear when Amity and Willow enter her mind resemble ones which Luz wore at certain moments in the show.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Instead of Reality Check Summer Camp, Camila (with the advice of Monarch instead of Principal Hal) arranges for Luz to spend her Summer vacation at a remote island to achieve a better state of mind.
    • Because she’s a Half-Human Hybrid, Luz isn’t able to bypass the barrier at the Conformatorium. Instead, she breaks it with a few punches. In addition, rather than Eda being decapitated by Warden Wrath, Luz’s head is cut off, only to regenerate it while Wrath tries to ask Eda out.
    • Because of her Healing Factor, Willow and Luz are able to call Principal Bump’s bluff by going along with his dissection, though he stops them after the first cut makes Luz bleed. Luz then manages to personally convince Bump to let Willow transfer to the Plant Track, which he does after she demonstrates her magical prowess in a witches duel.
    • Rather than expel her, Bump decides to let Luz attend Hexside, on the condition that Eda agrees to let her go. Of course, Eda, being Eda, refuses, and decides to take Luz to the Covention to show her the problem with the Boiling Isles’ Coven system. Luz still challenges Amity to a witches duel, and beats her thanks to her Ghidorah powers.
    • Luz manages to intimidate Edric and Emira into giving up on their plan to post the pages of her diary over Hexside. While Otabin still kidnaps Amity while under the effect of the Wailing Star, Edric and Emira stay to help Luz save her, which they do thanks to a detailed notebook drawing of Godzilla brought to life thanks to the Wailing Star, dubbed “Minizilla”.
    • In addition to the Slitherbeast, Luz and Amity have to deal with the Slitherbeast Queen, who Luz manages to kill in her new dragon form.
    • Amity doesn’t get the chance to burn Willow’s memory because Hunter broke into Hexside’s photo room to burn Luz’s memories instead, so Amity and Willow go into Luz’s mind to fix her memories. All of Luz’s memories that need to be fixed are related to Titans in some way, whether because they were memories of her being ostracized by her peers, or because they were memories connected to Godzilla and King Ghidorah.
    • Instead of Amity, Luz is the one elected as Grom Queen, and instead of Camila, Grom’s final form ends up being King Ghidorah. Luz also figures out Amity wanted to ask her to Grom herself.
    • After Eda succumbs to her curse, Luz takes her and Lilith back to the Owl House, avoiding a confrontation with Belos and saving the portal door from being destroyed. Luz then uses her Ghidorah powers to drain Eda of the curse, but then the Owl Beast gains a body of its own.
    • Lilith is kept at the Owl House by Hooty while Luz, Eda, and King follow the Owl Beast to the uncharted island where King was born.
    • While Luz survives the attempt, Alador is still horrified that Odalia attempted to kill her, leading to both him and Amity quitting Blight Industries.
    • Rather than look for information on a portal to the Human Realm, Luz and Amity go to the Forbidden Stacks to learn more about Human Realm titans like Godzilla living in the Demon Realm.
    • Belos still wants to achieve the Day of Unity, but for a far different reason. Here, he's a parasitic Kaiju feeding on the entire populace of the Boiling Isles and plans to invade Earth to try again there, though he's still killed before he can carry out his plan.
  • Shock and Awe: Being part-Ghidorah, Luz can control electricity.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When the Wailing Star makes the books in the library come to life, one of the animals Luz sees is a rocket-powered flying turtle.
    • When fighting Grom together, Luz and Amity use their magic to create a giant that resembles a Jaeger.
  • Signature Roar: Whenever Luz’s primal instincts are awakened, she can let out a roar that sounds very similar to King Ghidorah’s iconic cackle.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Luz is able to understand Barcus without any translation, and King is able to understand the Owl Beast once it's separated from Eda.
  • Trauma Button: Downplayed. For Luz, being around snow brings back bad memories of whenever she had to see her “dad”, King Ghidorah, who was still imprisoned in ice.
  • Traumatic Superpower Awakening: After being unable to get past the barrier at the Conformatorium (which prevents anyone who isn’t human from getting through), causing her to have a brief Heroic BSoD that led to her unleashing an electrically-charged punch that broke it.
  • Truly Single Parent: Luz was conceived as part of a genetic research project that involved inseminating King Ghidorah’s DNA into Camila, who gave birth like any other mother.
Amity: How did [King Ghidorah] even... you know?
Luz: What? No. Jeez. They managed to get some stem cells from its blood and worked from there.
Amity: I... don’t know what that means. But I’m assuming it’s a good thing.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Because of her Ghidorah powers Luz doesn’t have the best control when it comes to casting spells.
    • During her witches duel with Amity, Luz slips into a more primal mindset and uses the light glyph, and manages to create a giant flash of light that gives both her and Amity visible sunburns.
    • When Luz first discovers the ice glyph, the pillar she creates catapults her much farther than in canon, literally sending her flying until she lands where the Slitherbeast is.
    • Luz’s first use of the plant glyph ends up filling the inside of the living room with plant life.
  • Wham Line: From chapter 16:
    “Monster Zero is free.”
  • Worf Had the Flu: Part of why Rodan does so poorly against Luz in chapter 17 is because he's already gotten pummeled by Monster Zero, combined with his exposure to the Oxygen Destroyer despite not having been directly hit.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Luz’s natural Ghidorah powers aren’t like the magic used by the witches in the Demon Realm. Not even a Greater Basilisk can absorb her lightning blasts.
