Good Luck <3 by GlitterFairy_21225 is a "Let's Watch Our Show" Plot fanfic for All of Us Are Dead.

Before the events of season one, the characters, important and unimportant, are made to watch the events of the series to prevent the tragedies that would have befallen them.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • 0% Approval Rating:
    • Everyone hates the principal. No like, everyone. Literally everyone. In the episode one reaction, Su-hyeok notes how everyone thinks he's absolutely useless whether they benefit from it or not. Apparently, even the bullies think he's a joke.
    • The entire room turns against Commander Jin after his show self orders for Class 2-5 to be left behind and then shot. Even Eun-ji and Cheol-soo, who want the other kids dead, make fun of him. Both On-jo and Woo-jin state that they want him dead after their respective love interests die, which would have been prevented had they been saved. It gets worse after he decides to bomb Hyosan.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: In the show, Woo-jin and Joon-yeong's friendship isn't shown to be overly special, and Woo-jin has a quite tame reaction when the other boy dies. Here, they have deep romantic feelings for one another, and the calmness is explained away as being an extreme case of denial.
  • Art Imitates Life: Woo-jin paints a portrait made to resemble the rain scene on the roof, which was one that was very powerful to him.
  • Big Damn Kiss:
    • Woo-jin and Joon-yeong have this in comparison to other ship's first kisses, as the latter is so devastated by the former's death he can't help but act on his feelings and kisses him hard.
    • In the final chapter, I-sak and Gyeong-su stop what they're doing to passionately kiss during a heated moment.
  • Big "NO!": Cheong-san's reaction to watching his mother die.
  • Brick Joke: Several.
    • When questioned about what they’re whispering about, I-sak and Gyeong-su hide that they’re discussing her being a Shipper on Deck with ‘The Economy’ and ‘How Joon-yeong has more followers than her’ to I-sak’s aghast. Later, when On-jo asks why they’re reacting so strangely to Nam-ra and Su-hyeok getting together, they say this again for everyone to hear, only for I-sak to demand to know how many he has and for Joon-yeong to teach her his ways when he gives a high number. In the last chapter, the picture they use for him is implied to be taken from his social media account.
    • Nam-ra tells I-sak and Gyeong-su that her mother doesn’t allow her to have pets in a funny scene. In the next chapter, Woo-jin covers up his weak message to his and Ha-ri’s mother by joking about how there’s no use asking for a pet even after the apocalypse. After returning home, Nam-ra is gifted a pet rabbit for her birthday and offers to let Woo-jin be the ‘father’ to his joy.
    • After the first death of someone present in the room, Commander Jin makes the decision to speak with everyone who suffers a bad fate. Serious, apart from the last line of his POV, where he states, 'It won't get old'. After Woo-jin's death, the last of the season, he stands and the teenager yells, 'We get it! It's gotten old'. He then shrugs and sits back down. There's never a scene to show if he does eventually give a speech to Woo-jin, implying that was where it ended.
    • The entire final chapter is a brick joke to I-sak and Gyeong-su agreeing to rank all the character deaths of the series.
  • Character Focus: Each episode gets a single character dedicated to it, with the chapter exploring that character's unique perspective of the episode's contents'
    • Episode One is told from Su-hyeok's POV. The focus on the bullies' impact is explored through the lens of his guilt having previously been associated with him. He also offers insight on his reaction to On-jo asking him out and his crush on Nam-ra.
    • Episode Two has I-sak's POV, as she reacts to the initial carnage that befalls the school, as well shipping her friends now that they're in a show, all the while hoping for the best, not wanting to think of herself or On-jo dying. Of course, then I-sak is forced to contend with her own death.
    • Episode Three follows Gyeong-su and his bitterness over Na-yeon trying to insist that he's infected after getting scratched by a zombie while saving the others. And then of course, he dies.
    • Episode Four is from Cheong-san's POV. He copes with his best friend's death, most heartbreakingly, his mother's death, the plot to get a phone, and witnessing Gwi-nam kill the principal before the psychopath's attention is turned on him.
    • Episode Five has Ji-min cope with the overwhelming grief of her parents' deaths.
    • Episode Six is a lighter chapter, being from Dae-su's POV. He's very anxious seeing the kids grow increasingly hungry, provides funny commentary on Nam-ra and Su-hyeok's growing feelings for each other, and cries at the end.
    • Episode Seven is the only episode not from a member of Class 2-5. Eun-ji marvels at her new hambie abilities and growing baddassery as she sees herself kill a teacher who was cruel to her. She also provides a dark look at Gwi-nam killing Myung-hwan and Cheol-soo abandoning the class.
    • Episode Eight follows Na-yeon as she tries to reform herself after witnessing herself murder a classmate, watching what happened to her and Ms. Park after they left, and contending with her own death as she finally reckons with her guilt.
    • Episode Nine is from Woo-jin's POV. He doesn't do much in the episode but reckons with his entire class being left behind by the military and has to cope with his loss of innocence and the hatred he's developing for the people who hurt them.
    • Episode Ten is from Joon-yeong's POV as he watches his love interest reunite with his sister, himself fight over escape plans with Mi-jin, and eventually, his Heroic Sacrifice to save his friends.
    • Episode Eleven sees On-jo coping with her loss of innocence and grief over her father's death as she comes to terms with her feelings for Cheong-san. And then, of course, there comes Cheong-san's fate at the end of the season...
    • Episode Twelve centers on Nam-ra, who realizes she needs to go after her hambie powers get out of control and she attacks On-jo. She also deals with the feelings that come from being the one to snap Woo-jin's neck after he turned, as well as showcasing to the audience that she was actually under the impression that most of the major Will They or Won't They? ships were already items the entire time.
  • Cry into Chest: Too many to count.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Every episode is told from the POV of one of the high schoolers, with varying degrees of relevancy to the episode they’re reacting to. In order, Su-hyeok, I-sak, Gyeong-su, Cheong-san, Ji-min, Dae-su, Eun-ji, Na-yeon, Woo-jin, Joon-yeong, On-jo, and Nam-ra all have entire episodes dedicated to their reactions.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Eun-ji and Cheol-soo are both rooting for the downfall of the other characters. But even they are all for throwing shoes at Commander Jin. Eun-ji also clarifies at first that she's not 'actually' going to hurt anyone, just likes seeing her onscreen self do so. She also apologizes for killing Cheol-soo in the show as they've made up in real life. After they return home, she decides against becoming a hambie for real and the two of them become bullies, but only towards people who deserve it. Eventually, they both start to mellow out and she even offers to help out Hyo-ryung with a problem she has with a teacher.
    • Na-yeon clearly tries to change her ways in her episode, cutting herself off when she thinks something particularly bitchy and trying to reason out why what she was doing was wrong.
    • Yeong-ju judges the main group of kids without insight about what was really going on with them, labelling them as 'toxic' based off of gossip and the story she and her friends concocted in her mind. That being said, she also dislikes the things she comes up with, implying she'd be above such behavior, she also hates their Jerkass former principal, and in a throwaway line, mentions she's figured out somehow that Woo-jin is gay but doesn't out him to her friend and doesn't seem to judge him for it.
    • Commander Jin, even after everyone turns against him, and though he stands by his decisions in the show, still makes sure to assure every character present who faces death that he'll work as hard as he can to prevent it. He takes their hatred with a stone expression.
  • Funny Background Event: After Woo-jin and Joon-yeong kiss and I-sak points it out, Gyeong-su briefly notes that Na-yeon, whose chair is angled next to the couch they’re hiding behind, is looking rather confused.
  • Genre Savvy: I-sak is able to figure out every couple that will get together, even ones who don't do so in the show. Additionally, multiple times a character will discuss common tropes in media, labelling Cheong-san the main character and On-jo the female lead, wondering if a supporting or minor character will be killed off at a certain point, assuring themselves that they can't all die in a tense moment lest the plot stop moving forward, etc.
  • "Let's Watch Our Show" Plot: The plot of the fic.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Multiple times characters are confused by Running Gags from I-sak and Gyeong-su's subplot or callbacks to other jokes. Apart from the latter, only Woo-jin seems aware of how much she is a Shipper on Deck for the different couples of the series and also seems aware of most of the couples pre-relationship in his own right. In particular, I-sak's reaction to Su-hyeok and Nam-ra getting together is especially baffling to the other characters, especially those who hadn't realized he had feelings for her.
  • Lucky Charms Title: The title is written with a "<3" at the end.
  • Mama Bear: Assemblywoman Park is quite protective of Nam-ra, holding her close throughout the first couple of episodes and thanking Su-hyeok for rescuing her. She also stands by her daughter slapping Na-yeon after it's revealed she infected Gyeong-su and immediately believes it when Nam-ra says that's what happened.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Woo-jin's reaction to Joon-yeong dying. He is especially quiet, which is an odd reaction compared to almost every other reaction to this death or any other. Despite spending most of the episodes sitting next to Joon-yeong and occasionally being described as cuddling with him, he starts sitting as far away from the other kids as possible. And, despite being set up as one of the kindest members of the class, angrily says he hopes Commander Jin dies.
  • Out of Focus: Most of the adult characters who aren't directly linked to the kids. But also notable is Hyo-ryung, who is the only present Class 2-5 character who was a part of the main group of survivors to not get an episode based on her reaction to it.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Several throughout the fic. Nam-ra and Su-hyeok. I-sak and Gyeong-su. On-jo and Cheong-san. Woo-jin and Joon-yeong. Mi-jin and Ha-ri.
  • Shipper on Deck: I-SAK!
    • I-sak gets distracted from the show multiple times during her reaction to think about who she ships together. She has a list made up of Nam-ra and Su-hyeok, Joon-yeong and Woo-jin, Cheong-san and On-jo, and Ha-ri and Mi-jin. Towards the end, she adds Dae-su and Hyo-ryung as well. She's the most excited about and puts the most effort into pushing Namyeok together though.
    • Additionally, Woo-jin and Min-jae are both delighted to see Ha-ri and Mi-jin getting close, to I-sak's ecstasy. Joon-seong also tries to convince Mi-jin to ask out Ha-ri.
    • Both Dae-su and Woo-jin playfully tease Su-hyeok about his crush on Nam-ra and neither have any problems with the possibility of him dating her.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • I-sak spends her entire episode hopeful that she will survive the show. Of course, this is episode two... she is rightfully devastated and horrified to realize she's the first death to come from the characters brought to the room.
    • Woo-jin in episode nine says that he hopes the episode will end on a positive note so that he can go into episode ten hopeful that it won't be horrible. Even though he says this knowing that it's probably fruitless, he couldn't have known that the episode in question would end with Cheong-san coming face-to-face with his zombified mother. And of course, episode ten is Joon-yeong's death.
  • Villainous Friendship: After Eun-ji witnesses Cheol-soo refuse to let the other kids on the roof in order to be saved, she's so impressed she forgives him for letting her go even though she would die. Both actively root for the downfall of the other characters. The only time Eun-ji is shown to regret any of her counterpart's actions is when she kills him in the show.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: After episode nine, when Commander Jin orders for Class 2-5 to be left behind and then shot and killed, not a single member of the watchparty can stand him. This is really saying something given the wide range of people watching the show. Even Eun-ji and Cheol-soo are against him.
