In a world full of vampires and werewolves plus Dhampyrs, this was almost certainly a given.

  • Jacob Black was originally meant to be a one-shot character who would introduce Bella to the myths of the "cold ones" (vampires), but Stephanie Meyer and the readers ended up enjoying him so much that he became very important to the overall plotline of the next three books and Bella's best friend and second love. Although considered as a Base-Breaking Character as well, it also helps if one ignores his more Jerkass moments and the infamous imprinting in Breaking Dawn.
  • Vampire doctor Carlisle Cullen. Most of his fans are among those who otherwise loathe the books. His status as the Big Good and The Ace also helped.
  • Alice, who counts Moviebob and Cleolinda Jones among her fans, is essentially a superhero with her ability to see into the future. Sadly, she is also relegated to a supporting role in a tepid paranormal romance story. Being played by Ashley Greene helps just a tad.
  • And Rosalie for some, particularly people who dislike Bella. As mentioned under They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot, her expanded origin story has been well-received, due to being basically Kill Bill with vampires.
  • Charlie Swan is another one who's quite popular even among the haters, who often call out Bella for the hell she puts her father through. In fact, a lot of the moviegoers felt Charlie's portrayal was well done thanks to Billy Burke's subtle and sympathetic performance.
    • The Rifftrax team also have a Fan Nickname for him ("Mustache Dad"), mostly because mustaches are a Running Gag for them.
    • The Spoony One (also referring to him as "Mustache Dad") even says he's the most sympathetic character throughout all the movies.
    • The Distressed Watcher said he wishes the movies were centered on Charlie, a silent but resourceful lawman investigating a string of mysterious murders and struggling with single fatherhood while his daughter keeps secrets from him.
  • Bella's human friends, who seem like the sort of people you genuinely want to hang out with.
    • Angela in particular is liked even by Anti-fans, due to the fact she's a genuinely sweet girl, but due to being and remaining a Muggle after Bella becoming a vampire, we never see her again. In fact, a lot of anti-fans like the humans (Mike, Jessica, etc) because they are looked down upon by Bella and Meyer for being better characters.
    • There is also a need to mention Tyler Crowley, aka "the guy who almost hit Bella with his van", a status maintained even after the passing of his actor. Hell, the van itself too, really.
  • James was simply a member of the Wacky Wayside Tribe of nomadic vampires introduced in the first book whose only purpose in life was to hunt, kill and drink good blood, namely Bella's. He's described as being unremarkable in appearance, average even by human standards. But he became inexplicably popular with the fans when he was revealed to have a connection with Alice, and his lack of an established past made him a point of interest for theorists. It also did not help matters that Cam Gigandet, the actor who played him in The Film of the Book, was very admittedly attractive, and when asked to come up with his own interpretation of the character, said that James was really a broken hollow shell of a person on the inside, coming damn close to making James The Woobie as well.
  • Leah Clearwater earned this title for her Deadpan Snarker tendencies, a particularly memorable moment involving Narrative Profanity Filter in the book, and the fact that she unflinchingly and unapologetically would call out the other characters whenever they acted like idiots. She also had many of the makings of The Woobie as well, having lost her father to a heart attack and her boyfriend Sam leaving her for her cousin Emily ever since becoming one of the wolves, and yet having everyone shun her and treat her like a bitch, not caring at all about her heartbreak (something that thankfully changed when Jacob left the pack and was able to get to know Leah without any influence from the others' prejudice).
  • Similarly, Leah's little brother Seth Clearwater has a small part to play in Eclipse, and picked up a massive following for his adorable snark, bravery, and almost naive affableness. Come Breaking Dawn, he had a lot more action and some of the best lines in the book.
  • Sam, thanks to his giant black wolf form being totally badass, could count as well...though, considering he imprinted on Emily and left Leah for her and then ripped half of Emily's face off when she tried to reject him, it becomes a lot more complicated.
  • Many of the Volturi in general became very popular amongst the fans as well, despite having not many lines or characters. For specific examples, though, there's Aro for his Magnificent Bastard traits and Michael Sheen's performance in the films and Marcus for his sad backstory.
  • Bree made people pity her to the point that they wrote an alternate take on her encounter with the Volturi and even went as far as have her be adopted by the Cullens.
  • The Denalis, Benjamin and his family all became incredibly popular after Breaking Dawn Part 2 came out, as their actors managed to make them fairly interesting and/or likeable (Benjamin for being played by Rami Malek and having cool elemental powers and Garrett for being played by Lee Pace and his relentless curiosity about the unknown.)
  • J. Jenks gained this thanks to Wendell Pierce's performance in the film version. Essentially, he is a high-powered lawyer who forges papers for the Cullens and suspects they're vampires but purposefully keeps himself in the dark because that's none of his concern. He's basically a mortal Consigliere and we only get one scene with him.
  • And after Breaking Dawn, Nahuel, a Dhampyr brought in by Alice to testify against the Volturi and convince them that Renesmee Cullen was not a threat to the vampires' existence, who was also a Dhampyr herself gained quite a fandom as well. His only real lines were his testimonials, but more of his character was revealed by Edward's mind-reading, making him a bit of a woobie as well. In Fan Fic, he's usually paired up with fellow darkhorse Leah. A bit of a Crack Pairing, yes, but some can't help but find the idea of it very inexplicably cute.
