* HairTriggerTemper: Clint Wayne once nearly shot Cabin because of this.

** Of the five villains allied with Dino Attack Team, General is the only one who performed a HeelFaceTurn.
** Dr. Strangebrick and Dr. Cyborg have arguably performed heel face turns seeing as they are both former XERRD scientists now working with the Dino Attack team.
** In a very Darth Vader-esque example, not only does Minerva's suffering force Zach to change his ways but overthrow the big boss and save the girl.

* HeelRealization: What ultimately led to [[TheAtoner General's]] HeelFaceTurn. Rex also had a Heel Realization in the form of a TomatoInTheMirror. Garry also had a turn of sorts, when he started to feel bad about his role in torturing Jenny.

** Many members of XERRD, including Blaire Darkling, William Lee, Robert Nicholas, and Alvin Gadd, began to realize that their so-called destiny to repopulate the planet with dinosaurs was nothing more than [[spoiler:a plot by [[OmnicidalManiac Baron Typhonus]] to destroy the LEGO Planet]]. As a result, Blaire Darkling had XERRD align itself with the Dino Attack Team to fix its mistakes.
** Oswald Fabello had one upon realizing [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus was alive and had manipulated the entire Dino Attack]].

* HeroOfAnotherStory: Many of the recurring [=NPCs=] who are off on their own adventures when they are not in the spotlight.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Invoked; FUTURE planned to make Alpha Team look bad by showing them consorting with the enemy, i.e. PBB, Chompy, and Little Bot hanging out with a pair of Mutant T-Rexes (Rex and Amanda).

* TheILoveYouStigma: In his senior year of high school, Frozeen made the mistake of finally confessing his love to Shannon Grimton... while she was already in a relationship with another man.
* InconsistentSpelling:
** One of [=ShadowTech=]'s Four Guardians is introduced as Harpunia, apparently a misspelling of Harpuia. The character's name continues to switch back and forth between the two spellings. The Downloadable Archive maintains "Harpunia" as the most consistent spelling, while the Director's Cut changes everything to the "Harpuia" spelling.
** In ''At War's End'', Atton Rand spells Flatfoot Thompson as Flatfoot Thomsen, Fort Legoredo as Fort Legorado, and Silencia Venomosa as Silencia Venemosa. These are corrected in the Director's Cut.
* INeedAFreakingDrink: After having some problems of his own and finding out that two of his teammates were killed, Spy ''really'' needed a cigarette to clear his head so he could figure out the identity of TheMole.
* INeverSaidItWasPoison: In ''Because Of You'', George realizes that Talia murdered Ronald in Timeline 1958-B when she says that Ronald was shot, which she should not have known (Ronald was officially reported to have drowned).
* ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne: Medic didn't mind being called out on his questionable methods. He ''did'' mind, however, when Pierce falsely accused him of using rusty tools.
* IWasNeverHere:
** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Edward Korrupte]] made it quite clear to Silencia Venomosa that neither of them were in his office at that time on that day, and they were most certainly not having a conversation about infiltrating Mindstorms, Inc.
** According to Specs, he most certainly did ''not'' have an argument in his office with Rex and Amanda about the identity of the mole.
* IWasQuiteALooker:
** In his youth, General was considerably handsome.
** Assuming the recurring male figure in Ben Gunn's photographs is a younger version of himself, he was also handsome in his youth.
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] with Dr. Rex and Katerina Schattenberg, [[OlderThanTheyLook who are still (to a degree) lookers]].

** One of the few phrases that Dromus knows in the Mutant Dino language.

* IveComeTooFar: This phrase was spoken over the comm chatter as a ShoutOut to ''VideoGame/Left4Dead2''.
* AnIcePerson: Robo-Subzero, Crystal, and the Ice Snake King all have the power to create ice and cold.
* IdealistVsPragmatist: This is the central theme of the "idealists vs. realists" feud. There are idealists such as Rex who believe that the Mutant Dinos deserve to be saved, there are realists such as Greybeard who believe that the Mutant Dinos must be exterminated, and the two sides tend to butt heads a lot over how they should be fighting the Dino Attack war. On at least two instances (the Kotua crisis and the Cam O'Cozy schism), this debate escalated into outright violence.
* IfICantHaveYou: Dr. Rex to Talia Kaahs. He was willing to ruin her marriage with George Ogel out of jealousy, and when she refused to join him during the Dino Attack, he got over his heartbreak by declaring her to be his enemy and trying to kill her.
* IfMyCalculationsAreCorrect: Said by Michelle Glados during the final battle, [[MillionToOneChance regarding Dino Attack Team's chances of winning]].
* IfYouKillHimYouWillBeJustLikeHim:
** Garry's moral issues over whether to turn in Rotor. On the one hand he could keep quiet, allowing the team to keep a good leader that they will need in the upcoming battle, but he is still an accomplice to cold-blooded torture, making him no better. On the other hand, he could turn Rotor in. However, the team would be deprived of the one man who can lead a T-1 squad. He would also most likely be punished himself though probably not as severely as if he kept quiet, and worst of all Rotor might try to kill him out of anger. Interestingly, Garry actually chose to keep quiet, though he deliberately faked Jenny's death to get her as far away from Rotor as possible.
** Called out by Carolyne Provencal when she was at Zach's mercy with her One-Hit Kill Agony Beam staff. Despite wishing to humanely kill Provencal, Zach causes him to go ahead and kill her with the staff.
* ImmediateSelfContradiction: In ''Dino Attack in a Nutshell'', everybody dies, and the survivors live happily ever after.
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Dr. Rex began injecting himself with Jugend Serum when he was 27 years old. Kat appears to be in her mid-twenties.
* ImmortalityInducer: Jugend Serum for Dr. Rex, Kat for Katerina Schattenberg.
* ImmortalitySeeker: [[ItRunsInTheFamily One of the few qualities shared by Dr. Rex and Katerina Schattenberg]]; neither of them cared to suffer the ravages of age if they could avoid it.
* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: A whole Maelstrom Temple of XERRD Space Marauders and Sorcerers... and not one of them could hit Rex, Amanda, or Rotor. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Walter Breen.
* ImplacableMan: Between his [[MadeOfIndestructium silge armor]] and [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention]], [[SNKBoss Dr. Rex]] was essentially invincible during the FinalBattle.
* ImpossiblyDeliciousFood: Brickolini's pizza. At least, for everyone not in [[DoesNotLikeSpam the Bishop family.]]
* ImpostorExposingTest: In a ShoutOut to ''Film/{{The Thing|1982}}'', Copper proposed a test for identifying Stromlings that involved mixing their blood with uncontaminated blood. Unfortunately, in yet another shout-out to the same movie, Outpost 31's blood samples were sabotaged before the test could be implemented. Atton Rand toyed with using a similar method to the blood test that ultimately was used in the movie, but this never actually made it into the RPG.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Dust realized he was one after researching his genealogy. He was descended from the kings of Egypt but was born to an alcoholic father and a drug addicted mother. Both were horrible and pathetic people and dishonored the family name. When Dust left, the knowledge of his royal heritage was all he had.
* ImprobableAge: Dust became a respected archeologist at the Cairo museum at age 20.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Silencia Venomosa was able to throw a switchblade at a fleeing Keaton and successfully land it in his spine.
* InMediasRes: ''Dino Attack RPG'' begins anywhere from a week to a month after the Dino Attack officially started in April 2010. At this point, Mutant Dinos are already widespread and Rex is already an Elite Agent.
* InSpiteOfANail:
** Discussed in ''Because Of You''. Tony Twister explains that small changes in the past aren't necessarily going to create alternate timelines. He compares it to a rubber band snapping back to its original shape after being stretched and released.
** Despite Dimension 418 and Timeline 1958-D being different universes ''and'' timelines, both alternate histories somehow result in George and Talia Kaahs having a daughter named Sydney, albeit under very different circumstances.

* ItWillNeverCatchOn: After Zach gets a pink pony toy for Christmas from a game of Dirty Brickster, Laxus looks up the series its from and notes there's [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic a TV show based around it]] that's getting positive remarks. Andrew doesn't think much of it.

* LongRunners: With a run of nearly seven and a half years, ''Dino Attack RPG'' has outlasted every Franchise/{{LEGO}} [[PlayByPostGames TBRPG]] on Website/{{BZPower}}.

* JesusTaboo: Due to Website/BZPower's rules against religious discussion, any references to real-world religion are usually downplayed. This is most apparent with Noomi Shaw, a semi-religious doctor who uses faith as a form of comfort, but while she wears a cross on her necklace, she admits to not believing in Christianity specifically. Frank Einstein's Judaism and Dust's Islam are both {{informed|Judaism}} and don't factor into their characters at all. The only instance where the taboo is outright averted is with Pharisee, TheFundamentalist who quotes Bible verses as he punishes sinners.

** For reasons he cannot explain, Zachary Virchaus cannot bring himself to say the word "idiot", [[Website/BZPower censoring the word with the phrase "cool dude".]]

** J.D.'s murder recieved a quick response because it was ''inside'' the medical tent, right in front of at least three Doctors.
** The sudden death of Engineer arguably recieved similar, as did Medic.

* HasTwoMommies: A non-homosexual example; Minerva was raised by her two older brothers for the better part of eight years before Tod died.

* GenderNeutralWriting:

** Although originally referred to with feminine pronouns in ''LEGO Universe RPG'', Ness Farleigh is referred to in gender-neutral terms in the "Fifteeniversary".

* HeelRaceTurn: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] by the Quasifigus Hybrids. They appear to have switched sides twice during the war: first a HeelFaceTurn, then a FaceHeelTurn. However, they never actually were on Dino Attack Team's side; [[HeelFaceMole they were working for XERRD the whole time]], and their Heel Face Turn was just a ploy and thus there was no real Face Heel Turn.

* HeelFaceMole: The Hybrids appeared to undergo a HeelRaceTurn and join Dino Attack Team's side, but then it turned out they were still working for XERRD the whole time. By the time Dino Attack Team realized this, the Hybrids had already taken over key outposts in Castle Cove and Gold City.

* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: Not in ''Dino Attack RPG'' itself, but in the ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' tribute, Databoard knocks some sense into Kotua with a DopeSlap.

* HostileShowTakeover: Not in ''Dino Attack RPG'' itself, but on AprilFoolsDay 2010, Dr. Rex hacked [[TheWikiRule the wiki]] and turned it into a XERRD propaganda website.

* KillEmAll:
** ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]'' ended with ''the entire world'' blowing up, and an explicit description saying that none of the six main characters survived. It's made more heartbreaking by the references to some of the most likable characters having died long before, meaning this small group of people were the only ones left.
*** While it was established that Minifig life exists on other planets, the destruction of their home world and largest population would be harsh blow to Minifigkind and a major victory for the Maelstrom, which would have spread to the LEGO System and began destroying other worlds such as [[Toys/LEGOLifeOnMars Mars]] and [[Toys/LEGOSpace Ice Planet 2002]].
** Benton Kabrinsky's last post ended with [[spoiler:his entire cast dying in one swift blow]].

* KatanasAreJustBetter: RuleOfCool is definitely at play here as well, given that real-life katanas -- while indeed incredibly sharp -- are not all that strong.
** Despite Nazareno's status as a sci-fi ninja-type guy, he primarily uses two golden katanas to fight everything from cutting down fortress guards to ''shattering ''the skull of a Mutant Raptor.

* GenderNeutralWriting: In the Maelstrom Temple, to reflect the ignorance of his characters, [=PeabodySam=] refrained from identifying Pterisa's gender. Amusingly, although [=PeabodySam=] struggled to play the trope straight, Brikman [=McStudz=] simply averted the trope by using "her" right off the bat; this was fixed in the Director's Cut.

* GhostPlanet: This was pretty much the state of the LEGO Planet in ''[[WhatIf December 21, 2010]]''. With most of the surviving population kept in remote refugee facilities, there is a disturbing lack of people throughout the world.

* HalloweenEpisode: One of [=PeabodySam=]'s posts, written on October 31, 2010, was intended as a Halloween Episode as it prominently featured [[EverythingsDeaderWithZombies Stromlings]] and Skeleton Mummies.

* HannibalLecture: Dust is a master of this trope.

** On a related note, Word Of God says Dust is Muslum, however there is no evidence that he follows the faith since he comes off as a skeptic and drinks liquor. Given his background, a rational explanation would be that he is of Islamic descent, and maybe grew up learning Islamic culture, but Dust himself is not very religious and so does not follow the all of standard traditions.

* InternalReveal: The first time Pterisa revealed herself, it was a surprise to readers, but only revealed to the founding members in-universe. Therefore, when her identity was revealed a second time in the Maelstrom Temple battle in front of a lot of Dino Attack agents, players already knew this, but it was still treated as a major reveal in-universe.

** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] by Dino Attack Headquarters. After Firecracker filled the building with explosives and detonated it, it seemed likely that it would collapse, but it withstood the explosions. Then, Mutant Dinos attacked the building, creating huge structural damage and setting the upper floors on fire. Still, as a symbol of what the Dino Attack Team stood for, when the smoke cleared, Dino Attack Headquarters was still standing. However, it's notable that, [[WhatCouldHaveBeen in earlier drafts of the final battle, PeabodySam actually intended for this trope to be Played Straight.]]

** Similarly, Señor Palomar is described as having a faint Spanish accent in the prose ([[InformedAttribute but never actually reflected in his dialogue]]) and a few GratuitousSpanish words thrown in. [[WhatCouldHaveBeen However, PeabodySam originally intended to subvert this by having Señor Palomar and Greybeard chat entirely in Spanish at one point, though this scene was ultimately never written.]]

* KirkSummation: Clint Wayne's efforts to pursuade Rotor to end his court martial and release the captured agents.

* KnifeNut: Dust, Spy, Silencia Venomosa, Ata, and Oswald Fabello

* LastKiss: The kiss between Nazareno and Zelda. Doubled as a FirstKiss.

* LastMinuteReprieve: Sort of... George was saved just as Rotor was organizing the firing squad.

** [[spoiler:Amanda Claw's]] Last Request was that Rex find a way to defeat Dr. Rex, since that would bring an end to the Dino Attack and all the death - including [[spoiler:her]] own - that it brought about.

* LovedOnesMontage: Rex used one in order to break free of [[spoiler:the Darkitect's illusions]].

** Happened twice with Kate, with the reveal that Wallace Bishop is her uncle, and the reveal that Pierce is actually her biological father.
** Scout finds out that Spy is his father.
** Rev Raptor learned that Landro, a [[HalfHumanHybrid mutated]] and maddened XERRD scientist, was actually his father, Jecht Raptor.

* HookHandedPianist: Finister recalls a scheme in which he performed a piano concert (with two hook hands!) while his henchmen stole goods from the audience. This trope was removed in the Director's Cut, although coincidentally 10273 Haunted House's lore reveals that it's actually canon for his present-day self.

* InTheBlood:
** According to Word Of God, this trope was heavily involved in Frozeen's relationship with Baron von Brickthief and decision to go into hiding and become The Phantom.
** Rev Raptor was afraid that this trope would cause him to follow in the footsteps of his father Landro, so he committed [[HeroicSuicide suicide]] to prevent this from happening.

* LizardFolk: Quasifigus Hybrids, especially Minifig/Mutant Lizard Hybrids, fall somewhere between this trope and TheReptilians. Unlike the generally fantasy-based Lizard Folk, Quasifigus Hybrids are more sci-fi, but unlike The Reptilians, the Quasifigus are not aliens.

* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: While ''Dino Attack RPG'' centers on dinosaurs instead of dragons ([[DinosaursAreDragons barring any overlap]]), Valencia and the Maelstrom Dragons are included because dragons are just that awesome.

It helps somewhat that Atton Rand and That Guy From that Show, their respective players, are generally vague on exactly ''what religion'' they are (Pharisee quotes Literature/TheBible, but it's never actually been said that he ''is'' Christian or that he believes in God- likewise Shaw wears a cross, but her prayers are never described in detail, and it is partially hinted that while she believes in faith, she is undecided on what faith to believe in).
** After the initial [[HideYourLesbians controversy]] over the notion of [[SweetPollyOliver Andrea Jackson]] being gay, Atton Rand initially opted to continue to include those elements, but to downplay them and keep them as subtle as possible (starting with Maria and Andrea holding hands, references to Andrea's old spouse "[[GenderBlenderName Sam]]", and a brief moment in which it was heavily implied they had been engaging in intercourse, but Maria tried to cover it up). Later on once the disputes were settled he was able to get more explicit with their relationship.
