Darth Wiki / Disneyronpa: Woebegone Wonderland

Mort Fairplay: My name is Mort Fairplay. . . And you're watching the Disney Channel.

Disneyronpa: Woebegone Wonderland is an ongoing crossover Danganronpa roleplay hosted on Discord by wahoothis. Unlike with some Discord-ran Danganroleplays where it's a free-for-all, Disneyronpa is a themed game. As the name entails, its theme is Disney/Disney-owned properties.

16 "actors" have awoken in their own rooms in a manor located right beside "Fairplay Fun World," a grandiose theme park for them to have fun at. But the group's fantasy and fun comes to a close when the host known only as "Mort Fairplay" introduces himself as this show's playwright, and announces the general premise: Everyone will remain trapped here, and the only way out is to end your fellow actor or actress' career. And to do this, you must kill someone and get away with it. The mystical cartoon world the group may have lived in has ended, and now they're stuck in a crude cartoon, a frightening film, a Woebegone Wonderland.

The RP was unfortunately cancelled some time in Chapter 2.

    Disneyronpa Cast

Ultimate Actors & Actresses:

Viewer discretion advised, as the following detail may not be spoiled. You Have Been Warned.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Don't let the Disney characters fool you. This is still a Danganronpa roleplay. So characters that are normally all sunshine and rainbows are put in a life-or-death scenario where they do things they would never do in their normal source material, such as swear and, being the whole point of these roleplays, kill each other and watch them die.
  • Amusement Park of Doom: The main location the Killing Performance is taking place at, being a complete twisted rip-off of Disney Land.
  • And I Must Scream: Varian's curse invokes this. He's slowly being encased in amber unless someone kills. Thankfully, this trope is averted thanks to Maggie killing Belle.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Nebula does this twice during her battle with Grievous. The first time was her ripping off one of his metallic claws. The second time was her sacrificing her cybernetic arm to avoid being killed by Grievous' lightsabers.
    • And she does this once again when she attempted to kill Mort to end the Killing Game, slicing off an arm. Unfortunately for her, she's dealing with a being with the abilities of a toon. . .
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The Chapter 2 motive is the threat of Te Kā arriving to the park on a rampage to search for her heart if no one kills.
  • Censor Box: Given the series she comes from, Paige still has to oblige by the filters of Club Penguin's censorship even outside of it. Every time she attempts to swear, it gets blocked by a pop-up.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Cheshire Cat, which isn't a surprise considering he's from a place like Wonderland.
  • Cheshire Cat Grin: Cheshire Cat can give an unsettling grin and unnerve the others from time to time.
    • Mort also deploys this whenever he can, such as when Nebula's attack on him failed.
  • Dark Reprise: Mort spends his time taking the melody of famous Disney songs and twisted the lyrics with his own. This includes singing reprises of songs pertaining to the participants, like singing Maggie's theme song right after her execution.
  • Deadly Game: It's a murdergame after all, so this shouldn't be a surprise.
  • Did We Just Have Tea with Cthulhu?: Paige spends the last quarter of the Tomorrowland Speedway racing both Little Green Men and a space equivalent of Cthulhu. Paige escapes and makes it to the finish line when the space monsters appears, looking ready to kill her. . . But was actually here to return her hat she lost, giving her a pat on the head before departing back to space.
  • Energy Weapon: The method of choice that was used to kill Belle.
  • Everyone Has Standards: At the start and after the end of Maggie's execution, even someone like Thrawn expresses his disgust toward the inane manner of punishment.
    • Cheshire Cat has a moment of feeling actual feelings of disgust and sorrow after everyone leaves the trial where Maggie was executed.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Some of the cast members are from different time periods. To Varian and Belle being from 1770s, to Thrawn and Grievous being from a future far, far away.
  • Forced Transformation: Part of the first motive, some of the participants' curses involve this. From Cheshire Cat transforming into a regular house cat, to General Grievous becoming Grieve-tan.
  • Hope Spot: It seems like this when Milo finds Te Kā's heart in the kitchen. However, Mort quickly reveals that he purposely left the heart out that even if they found it, they still have to deal with the fact that a large monster made entirely out of lava is coming to them bent on destroying the park in her anger.
  • I Can't Hear You: This is Neku's curse in the first chapter. Loud music will randomly blare in his ears, impeding his ability to hear anyone. It gets to the point where his ear drums rupture and his ears are bleeding.
  • Ice Queen: Nebula acts cold and distant with the group, referring to them as weak as a result of her backstory involving Thanos.
  • Illogical Safe: After Varian punched off Mort's head in a panic, Mort invokes a lethal variant of this trope on him and Aqua as collateral. Vanellope saves the two by pushing them out of the way, and it's then the group realizes this is all real.
Maggie: That... That isn't a prop.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Or bug in this case. Maggie was sized up for this game to even the playing field. And her curse is shrinking back down to her original size. This is one of the factors that tied into her killing Belle.
  • Inexperienced Killer: Maggie was just your average high school student after all. She had to resort to using a laser blaster to kill Belle when she realized the poison stabbed into the girl's leg wouldn't be fast enough to kill.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: This was some of the participant's curses in chapter one. Milonote  and Amity are among the ones who started to lose memories of their friends.
  • Let Me at Him!: After Maggie's execution and Mort taunts the group, both Paige and Luz invoke this trope to tackle Mort in their anger. Thrawn and Aqua keep them from charging. Neku also does this, and no one holds him back, but it doesn't go so well. . .
Paige, attempting to tackle: NO! NO WE ARE NOT YOU LITTLE-
  • Murder Tropes:
  • Offhand Backhand: Neku charges at Mort in his anger, but is promptly knocked aside by Mort with a backhand to his face.
  • Off with His Head!: Varian ends up knocking Mort's head off his shoulder with a punch in the prologue. It doesn't kill him however. . .
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. There's two participants both named Milo. Milo note  has a one-sided rivalry with the other for this reason, similar to the rivalry he had with Milo the hamster in his home series.
  • Public Execution: Mort attempts to do this with Nebula after she broke a rule, slowly preparing to Dip her in front of everyone. Most of the group rush in to save her, with Milo rushing in to save her, suffering several slashes on his body from buzz saws and causing his water bubble to become pink from his blood. They save Nebula just in time. . . Only for Mort to reveal that he was just messing with them, and that Nebula wasn't going to actually die, only meant to be a warning for them this time.
  • Rubber-Hose Limbs: Acting like a 1930s rubber hose toon, Mort makes his grand performance by toying around with the cast, stretching out his limbs and throwing them around.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Maggie is this trope. She's nice, friendly, and made friends with a lot of the members in the group. Which is why when she's revealed to the be the first killer, mostly everyone rushed to her defense. Mort openly mocks the killer in how even when it was revealed everyone would die if the culprit escapes, she still kept quiet. Despite the pleas of many of the participants, Mort executes Maggie in front of everyone, setting up the game and kickstarting characters' growth.
  • Squashed Flat: At the end of her execution, Maggie is crushed to death in front of every participant.
  • Trail of Blood: How the participants discovered Belle's body had been dragged from the laser tag arena to the dark ride.
  • Token Evil Teammate: General Grievous sheds little sympathy nor care for his fellow participants. Right after Maggie's punishment, he breaks out in an uproar of laughter at the situation. He also proceeded to commend Mort to kill Nebula already during her public punishment in front of everyone.
Grievous: This is your greatest attempt?? Let her fall! Or I will do so myself!!
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Belle was the least active in the show, only showing up at the start before ending up becoming the first victim.
