Character Builders was an American animation studio established in 1986 by Jim Kammerud, Marty Fuller and Jeff Smith. Smith left the studio to pursue his comic interests in 1991 and created the Bone series later in his career. Writer and director Brian Smith and animator Dan Root also became eventual partners in the studio. Character Builders specialized in traditional animation for commercials, television and feature films. They ceased operations in 2005, and a spin-off studio, Hot Donut Productions, briefly worked on The Fox and the Hound 2 before shutting down as well.
