Humans

Heroes

    Ezra Yew
"I went off on a tangent again, didn't I?"
Ezra
An eccentric young man with a passion for research and Pokémon.

  • Absent-Minded Professor: He has a habit of going off on tangents and is very forgetful and clumsy.
  • Endearingly Dorky: To quote Whimsy:
...you've got to admit that it's rather cute to see him all happy in his element.
  • The Smart Guy: He knows a lot (and we mean a lot) about Pokemon.
  • Theme Naming: Like almost every other Pokemon Researcher in the world, his last name is a tree.

     Gracia Monuta
"Hello, hello! I'd greatly suggest getting out of the way, but it looks like you don't wanna do that! Hydra! Give that Numel a Tri Attack!"
Gracia
A trainer that wanders wherever she likes getting into battles and visiting daycare centres along the way.

     Mare Birch
<Bastard.>
Mare
A Pokemon Trainer with an attitude and the uncanny ability to talk to Pokémon.

  • Action Girl: Her solution to a good deal of situations is violence.
  • Deadpan Snarker: 100%. She often engages in Snark-to-Snark Combat with her Pokemon.
  • Foreign-Language Tirade: She reverts to her native language (Kantonese) when especially angry. This is helpfully translated for the reader.
  • Improbable Hairstyle: Mare's strange side ponytails should not be able to naturally hold themselves up.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Well, speaks fluent Pokemon. Same difference.
  • The Big Guy: While her Pokemon aren't particularly all that strong, Mare herself qualifies for this seeing as she can knock down a Magma Grunt with one punch.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She's definitely a tomboy but she also has a fondness for ribbons, especially the red one she always wears.
     Whimsy Larson
"I'm sorry, but I won't take it back on any circumstance. You need it more than I do. Plus I have more than enough to get by, and can make more during my journey."
Whimsy
An incredibly cheerful, yet mysterious, girl who shares her love of music wherever she goes, along with her smile.

  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Her parents don't approve of her wanting to be a musician and will actively try to stop her from making music, thus why she ran away from home.
  • The Leader: Generally the most level headed one in the group.
  • The Runaway: She ran away from home on her seventeenth birthday.

Villains

Team Aqua

     Grunts
The mooks and goons of Team Aqua.

  • The Drunken Sailor: The two Aqua Grunts that were encountered so far were very drunk.
  • Mooks: They aere the main cannon fodder of Team Aqua.
     Archie
"AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! These ships are amazing! What power!"
Archie
The leader of Team Aqua.

Team Magma

     Grunts
The mooks and goons of Team Magma.

  • Mooks: They aere the main cannon fodder of Team Magma.
     Maxie
The leader of Team Magma.

  • Brains and Brawn: His dynamic with Archie is portrayed like this during their temporary truce (though Archie is by no means stupid).

Pokemon

Whimsy's Team

     Jay (Zoroark)
"First off before we go anywhere. Where are your manners?"
Jay
Whimsy's faithful Zoroark companion. Able to take on a human illusion to disguise himself.

  • Master of Illusion: Comes with the species.
  • Pokémon Speak: Like all Pokemon he only says his name. Unlike other Pokemon, however, this only applies when he's not using his human illusion.
  • The Lancer: He's Whimsy's chief Pokemon and second-in-command. Being the only Pokemon capable of speaking in human language helps.
     Ghost (Espurr)
Whimsy's Espurr.

  • Confusion Fu: Knows disarming voice, which can cause confusion for the target.
  • Ironic Name: Shares a name with one of the types he's weak against.
  • Pokémon Speak: Like all Pokemon she only says her name.
     Sparks (Emolga)
Whimsy's Emolga.

Ezra's Team

     Hoots (Noctowl)
"Your relationship with Hoots is kinda like a sibling relationship. She loves you and will protect you when she has to, but at the same time you bug her like a little brother."
Whimsy
Ezra's Noctowl and minder.

     Dino (Gible)
"He's something, alright."
Mare
Ezra's Gible. A little bit (okay, a lot) of a chatterbox.
