    SpongeBob SquarePants
Voiced by: Shiki (Japanese), Wiley Koyote (English)
Our protagonist, the top fry cook of the Krusty Krab and Mr. Krabs' ace.
    Patrick Star
Voiced by: Gouryu (Japanese), Uncle Al (English)
SpongeBob's best friend and fellow member of the Krusty Krab.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Unlike in the original cartoon, instead of being just a simpleton this Patrick is very knowledgeable and wise.
  • Ambiguously Gay: He calls both SpongeBob and Squidward beautiful, but it's in the context of explaining to Sandy why they're immune to the prophecy of the Ugly Barnacle, so it's unknown if it's also a sign of him having deeper feelings for either of them.
  • Back from the Dead: He somehow comes back alive in between second and third OPs.
  • Backup from Otherworld: His spirit shows up to assist SpongeBob in his battle against Squidward during the second video.
  • The Big Guy: A very rotund and acrofatic fighter.
  • Fan Disservice: His Bermuda shorts are replaced by a thong, which jiggles just about every time he moves.
  • In the Hood: Who's that mysterious figure in the hood in the third OP? Surely it can't be Patrick.
  • Off with His Head!: He dies by Squidward cutting off his head (and one of his arms).
  • Tritagonist: He gets the third most amount of focus after SpongeBob and Squidward.
    Sandy Cheeks
Voiced by: Saki Yukino (Japanese), Emma Breezy (English)

  • Adaptational Wimp: She's also a skilled karate master here, but unlike in the cartoon she isn't the strongest member of the cast and gets beaten badly by Squidward in the first OP, followed by her spending the second OP recovering and pleading SpongeBob not to go fight Squidward. She regains some of her badassery in the third OP, which shows her fighting bad guys once again.
  • Handicapped Badass: Sandy lost her arm in OP 1, but that doesn't stop her from winning a fight with Kevin in OP 3.
  • The Heart: SpongeBob's primary Love Interest (besides Squidward) and the one who calms him down in the first episode. In the second OP she also makes a futile attempt to convince him not to fight Squidward.
    Mr. Krabs
Voiced by: John Wang (Japanese), Michael Edwards (English)
The owner of the Krusty Krab and SpongeBob.
  • Big Good: The one in charge of the Krusty Krew, sitting opposite of Plankton.
  • Broken Pedestal: SpongeBob loses respect for him when he learns he sent Squidward to fight Bubble Bass alone, and when he seemingly doesn't care whether or not Squidward dies.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He somehow got the Krabby Patty Secret Formula from an Artifact of Doom.
  • Good Is Not Nice: He's incredibly cold when it comes to the lives of his employees, shrugging of the possibility of Squidward's death in the first episode as simply being a sign he isn't strong enough.
  • Mentor Archetype: Everything he does is to guide and prepare SpongeBob.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Inverted. He's the only SpongeBob character to keep his original cartoon design (albeit more detailed), something that makes him stand out among the Animesque designs of the other characters.
    Squidward Tentacles
Voiced by: Nicole Inu (Japanese), T.J. Anthony (English)
SpongeBob's former friend and fellow employee at the Krusty Krab, until he joined the Chum Bucket out of envy for SpongeBob and became Plankton's ace.
  • Always Second Best: SpongeBob always being better than him is what fuels his envy and desire to prove himself.
  • Deuteragonist: He gets the second most amount of focus and development after SpongeBob.
  • The Dragon: Plankton's ace fighter against the Krusty Krab.
  • Driven by Envy: The main reason he turned evil seems to be because he was jealous of SpongeBob getting employee of the month so many times.
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: Leaves the Krusty Krab to join the Chum Bucket and becomes an enemy to his former allies.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: His eyes glow green after he takes Plankton's chum serum.
  • Honor Before Reason: The reason he fights Bubble Bass alone in the first episode is because he wants to reclaim his lost pride from being constantly outdone by SpongeBob.
  • It's Personal with the Dragon: Plankton may be the Big Bad, but it's Squidward who killed Patrick, hurt Sandy, and has a personal rivalry with SpongeBob.
  • The Lancer: Before he joined the Chum Bucket, he was SpongeBob's brooding friend and rival among the Krusty Krew.
  • Lancer vs. Dragon: He fights Patrick and Sandy in the first OP and defeats them both.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: He sprouts two extra arms during his fight with SpongeBob in OP 2.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Inverted; his normally red eyes turn green after being injected with chum.
  • Rival Turned Evil: Goes from SpongeBob's rival to one of his worst enemies in the OPs.
  • Slasher Smile: He's grinning creepily all throughout his fight with SpongeBob in OP 2.
  • Stock Shōnen Rival: A parody of this archetype. He starts out as a friendly rival of SpongeBob's (with romantic overtones) before becoming envious of him and turning evil (but keeping the romantic overtones).
    Bubble Bass
Voiced by: John Wang (Japanese), Jack Reeder (English)
A fat but tough fish whom Plankton sends to steal the Secret Formula.
  • Acrofatic: He may be fat, but he can still move fairly nimbly and channel his weight into powerful hits.
  • The Brute: Extremely large and rotund, but skilled at fighting and able to make use of his weight to batter his opponents.
  • Evil Is Petty: Prone to mocking his opponents and leveling insults at them.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Wears glasses and is a cruel villain prone to petty taunts.
  • Monster of the Week: He serve as the villain of the first episode of the series.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He gives one to SpongeBob about how much of a pushover Squidward is, and how SpongeBob was unable to save his friend.
  • Starter Villain: He is the villain of the first episode of the anime.
