Characters / The Sound Designer: The Motorvators

Go To

A long-standing, peaceful motorcycle club that also partakes in motorcycle-building and charity events. Their garage and workshop is situated alongside the Pink Elephant Pub, a bar in southwest Savanna Central. Defined by Rule of Cool, they are Milo's best friends.

WARNING: All spoilers are unmarked. If you haven't read the story, continue reading at your own discretion.

  • All Bikers are Hells Angels: Averted; not only are the Motorvators completely squeaky-clean and peaceful, but they're also one of the friendliest groups in the story.
  • Badass Biker: There are very few exceptions to this rule among the Motorvators, but special mention goes to Otis and Rick with regards to this trope.
  • The Engineer: They don't just ride around on motorcycles; they build and sell them.
  • Good Samaritan: To boot, the Motorvators frequently engage in charity events.
  • Mixed Animal Species Team: They're comprised of a variety of species, even though wolves represent a small majority. Nevertheless, they don't concern themselves with identity politics, believing anyone who wishes to join may promptly do so.

    Otis Ivorson

The long-time leader of the Motorvators, as well as one of the oldest members. He is a great friend to Milo and his family.

  • Authority Sounds Deep: He's the head of the Motorvators, and is described as having a notably deep, booming voice. One reader even suggested Sam Elliott as the voice of Otis.
  • Benevolent Boss: He's impeccably cordial to his club-mates and very patient with regards to their endeavors.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's 68 years old, but still very sharp and witty. To boot, he's still competent enough to run business at the Motorvator garage, as well as the Pink Elephant Pub.
  • A Father to His Men: He interacts very freely with his fellow club-members, maintaining his authority through humbly associating himself with them.
  • Gentle Giant: Even though he towers over pretty much everyone in his club, he's down-to-earth, respectful and polite to everyone, especially Milo.
  • Good Counterpart: To Jerry Jumbeaux Jr. in Zootopia; both are leading mammals in their respective businesses and both are African elephants, but while Jerry is impolite, prejudiced and crass, Otis is meritocratic, charming and peaceful.
  • Honorable Elephant: Being a Benevolent Boss, A Father to His Men and an all-round Nice Guy, Otis epitomizes this trope in the fanfic.
  • Large and in Charge: He is fifteen feet high from head to toe, and towers over every other Motorvator.
  • Nice Guy: Generally kind, wholesome and selfless; he and Milo seem to be getting along especially swimmingly.
  • Southern-Fried Genius: He implies that he was the one who started the Motorvator garage in the first place, which meant he had to be a skilled mechanic, and speaks with a Texan drawl.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: He is universally admired by the entirety of his club because of his down-to-earth, reasonable and caring attitude.

    Steve Gnuman

Milo's roommate, good friend and life partner. Works as a freelance texture designer and 3-D modeler.

    Rick Hobbes

The Bouncin' Big Cat

A tiger, trainer of the Pink Elephant Pub's bouncers and one of the older Motorvators, even though he's considerably younger than Otis.

  • Bouncer: His fitness is telling enough, and given how he mentioned training Milo, he trains other bouncers in the Pink Elephant Pub.
  • Brutal Honesty: Rick is completely unapologetic when it comes to pointing out the truth, regardless of how the truth makes one feel.
  • Cats Are Snarkers: Rick is very sassy and sardonic, especially when dressing down someone who's being a fool.
  • Cool Shades: He's mentioned as wearing a pair when he enters the Pink Elephant Pub.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He wears a black jacket adorned with small spikes on the edges of the sleeves and the collar and is a menacing, muscular tiger, but his heart being in the right place is hardly congruent with this exterior.
  • Hates Being Touched: Oddly enough for a member of the cat family, he is averse to physical affection to the point of telling people off when they do so.
  • Hunk: He's described as a tall, strapping tiger.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's edgy, snarky and downright unapologetic, but nevertheless has a genuine desire for goodness and seeing others prosper. Him being proud of Milo after his ascent at work is telling enough.
  • Lantern Jaw of Justice: As seen above, he has quite a pronounced chin.
  • Panthera Awesome: Being one of the largest cats in the world, the tiger, and a muscle-bound one who has trained martial arts at that, who's also a biker, Rick is a textbook example.
  • Shout-Out: Where else did you find a tiger named Hobbes?
  • Spikes of Villainy: Inverted; he may have a spiked jacket, but is a heroic character.

    Samantha "Sam" Delgato

A young lioness in the Motorvators.

  • Cats Are Snarkers: While she's generally wholesome and polite, she does have a penchant for making sassy remarks.
  • Cuddle Bug: She's shown to be very touchy-feely with the other Motorvators, shown by her elated hugging of Milo.
  • Genki Girl: She is very spirited, given her elated reaction to seeing Milo for the first time in a long while.
  • Nice Girl: Wholesome, gentle and helpful through and through.
  • Panthera Awesome: She's a lioness, and a very tough one at that.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She wears biker leather, albeit under a pink t-shirt.
  • Wrench Wench: The Motorvators all participate in building bikes, and Sam is no exception.

    Silas "Si" Hogsworth Jr.

An elderly wild boar, who happens to be one of the oldest members of the Motorvators - "oldest" meaning Otis' generation.

  • Badasses Wear Bandanas: He's described as wearing a bandana when first introduced.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Silas never misses the chance to make an off-handed remark about something he finds stupid.
  • Full-Boar Action: He's a wild boar.
  • Grumpy Old Man: He's very grouchy and glum, some of it coming from a feeling of disenfranchisement with modern life, especially social media culture.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sure, he's an abrasive grump, but even he is overjoyed to hear Milo's story about success, implying a level of care for the buck rabbit.
  • Southern-Fried Genius: He speaks with a thick Southern drawl; the genius comes from being very well-versed with motorcycle mechanics.

    Kenny Baird

A grizzly bear, who also works as the bartender of the Pink Elephant Pub.

  • Beary Friendly: An exception to the norm compared to bears seen in the film, Kenny is gracious, fun-loving and welcoming.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Once some social justice warriors become too adamant in their moral hectoring (without reason or basis, by the way), Kenny sees that there's nothing he can do right in their eyes, and orders Bulwark to throw them out.
  • Nice Guy: Kind, polite and helpful.

    The Timberlakes

A group of wolf siblings, so far comprised of Dave, Joey and June.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: Dave is easily the weirdest of the group, being mute and speaking to people only with bass lines, and he has one for everybody he knows.
  • Noble Wolves: They're all participating in the charity event for the LaFleur Children's Hospital.
  • The Speechless: Dave; anything that he has to say, he says through playing his bass.
