Station 24

    Terry

Chief Terry McConky

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/84ed8c42_b5bb_49e3_a6a0_e17ece100792.jpeg
Played by: Kevin Heffernan

Recently-promoted chief and career fireman. Lucy's dad, and Penisi's brother-in-law and best friend.

  • Da Chief: As chief, he's frequently at his wit's end with the crew's antics, but also finds himself getting caught up in them.
  • Groin Attack: Suffered a herniated testicle rescuing Eddie during a structure fire years ago.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Or in his own words, "A virile piece of man-meat!" Terry has put on a lot of weight since he took that picture with preschool-age Lucy on his shoulders.
  • Not So Above It All: Terry was a notorious prankster and "the king of hazing" when he was still on the floor. The crew (and mostly Eddie) frequently talk get him to participate, albeit reluctantly, in hijinks around the station, much to Price's annoyance.
  • Outranking Your Job: Zigzagged, as the show is somewhat ambiguous as to Terry's actual rank. He interacts directly with the city council, including making budget proposals, is said to report directly to the city fire commissioner, but also does the day-to-day work of a Battalion Chief (the lowest Chief Officer rank, directly above Captain), and is sometimes seen performing primary searches and other things chiefs really shouldn't be doing outside of extreme circumstances. Of course, this is due to Rule of Funny.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: In Season 2, it's revealed that he's been taking dance lessons and purchased a sequined outfit as a surprise for his wife.

    Eddie

Captain Eddie Penisi, Jr.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f83e738c_dc40_4d39_9558_3b839ac78c45.jpeg
Played by: Steve Lemme

Captain of Tacoma Fire Department Engine Company 24, A-shift.

  • The Ace: Although his niece slightly better than him, there's a reason why he's Eddie Penisi. note
  • The Captain: This is his formal position within Engine Company 24, but he prefers to be one of the guys.
  • The Casanova: Which bites him in the ass when a girlfriend turns out to be married. And more so when she turns up pregnant.
  • Casual Kink: Is said to enjoy a finger up his ass
  • Cool Uncle: To Lucy. He regularly advises Terry to dial back his overprotective instincts and let her come into her own as a firefighter.
  • The Gadfly: The most devious prankster of the cast.
  • Lady Killer In Love: Has a notebook full of current and former slam pieces, but prefers to be the one to call it off. Any woman (like Linda Price, for example) who turns the tables and uses him will leave him emotionally adrift.
  • My Greatest Failure: Eddie started a garage band in high school. They went nowhere because he never learned to play guitar.
  • Really Gets Around: If there's a woman with a pulse in the Pacific Northwest Eddie hasn't banged, you can safely assume she's a blood relative.
  • Serial Spouse: He's been married and divorced four times, which comes back to bite him when he finds out his divorce lawyer didn't have the proper credentials so he is an unintentional bigamist. Luckily, Terry failed to file the marriage paperwork so he was never technically married at all.
  • Serious Business: You have a fake mustache? "Get the fuck away from me! You should be ashamed of yourself!"
    Ike

Engineer Ike Crystal

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/246df472_1169_40e0_b380_d7e4a0e1c7c2.jpeg
Played by: Gabriel Hogan
  • Animal Lover: Ike is generally displeased when he thinks animals are harmed, going as far as to rescue an alpaca he thinks will be killed for it's wool.
  • Brainless Beauty: Physically attractive but about as bright as a burned out bulb.
  • Evil Twin: Ike's identical twin brother Mike is quite a bit smarter than he is, but where Ike doesn't have a mean bone in him, Mike is a selfish, bullying asshole.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Extremely fit, and he has a side job as a stripper.
  • Nice Guy: Very kindhearted, if not particularly bright.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Ike's voice gets very high-pitched when he's extremely angry, upset, or scared.
  • Unmanly Secret: Subverted. The rest of the crew didn't know that he moonlights as a stripper, but only because it never came up. They are surprised (and a little freaked) when they find out, but Ike is fine with it.
    Granny Smith

Firefighter-Paramedic Granfield "Granny" Smith

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cdb44818_a027_440d_8c9d_058699804327.jpeg

Firefighter Andy Myawani

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ee087490_3b02_468e_a49e_c1a132d90863.jpeg
Played by: Eugene Cordero
  • Butt-Monkey: Gets this treatment from the rest of the crew sometimes.
  • Casual Kink: He likes being dominated and deliberately antagonizes his violent ex-girlfriend so she'll keep bullying him.
  • Family Relationship Switcheroo: In Season 2, he's thrown for a loop when his family reveals that he's the result of a teen pregnancy and that his sister is biologically his mother.
  • Put on a Bus: In the fourth season, it's mentioned that he got a job with his uncle's company after the fire at the station. note
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: His ex-girlfriend Liz Salazar is about twice his size.
"I just really like having sex with things that are bigger than me!"
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: When he DM's for the station during D&D sessions, he bullies all the players into doing him favors and makes life miserable for the characters of the players who refuse.
  • Unmanly Secret: His Hawaiian name is Kaponko, and he really wishes his mom wouldn’t tell everybody.
  • Working with the Ex: Gets stuck with Salazar on an arson investigation.
    Lucy

Probationary Firefighter Lucy McConky

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20035d77_a440_4f9c_9339_44ead3e6748f.jpeg
Played by: Hassie Harrison

Terry's daughter, Eddie's niece.

  • The Ace: Top of her fire academy class and very skilled, though inexperienced.
  • Action Girl: She's a judo champion and the only firefighter who properly fights at the annual firefighter-cop boxing tournament.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Lucy is eager to get her own probie nickname. What does she get? "Chunk Light," a reference to a brand of canned tuna. Her dad's old nickname was "Tuna Can" because his junk is wider than it is long, and since she came out of that...
  • Gambler's Fallacy: Falls victim to this in Season Two and winds up losing her paycheck several times over.
  • In the Blood: Has always wanted to be a firefighter like her dad, uncle, and grandfather.
  • New Meat: As the station's probie, she's supposed to be the target of everyone's ribbing. Fortunately for her, Andy is still around as a tempting target.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Talks her dad into letting her get her uniform tailored to look more feminine, which shows off her very sexy figure.
  • Vocal Dissonance: An injury to her throat causes her to spend an episode speaking in a deep voice. Everyone, except Terry, finds it hilarious.

    Mickleberry

Probationary Firefighter Andy Mickleberry

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/106001b5_7ac4_401e_bedc_76bcc8d7df8e.jpeg
Played by: Christopher Avila

A new probie hired in the fourth season.

  • Naturalized Name: He states his father Anglicized their name when he came to the US and it was originally Miquelberrio.
  • New Meat: He's treated this way until he takes multiple stings from murder hornets to rescue a pet cat, at which point he earns the crew's respect.
  • Stereotypical Nerd: He has none of the athletic skills required for firefighting, but is a computer wiz with knowledge of the Dark Web, VPNs, and bitcoin mining.
  • Unfortunate Names: He's hired by the crew solely because they enjoy saying "Mickleberry".

Other Tacoma F.D. Members

    Eddie Sr.

Fire Commissioner Edward Penisi, Sr.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/627c7b76_2bb2_4637_9cfa_8557799a2836.jpeg
Played by: Joe Pantoliano
  • Berserk Button: The thought of firefighters not gambling sets him off.
  • Chest of Medals: His badge features an impressive collection of ribbons, including two decorations presented to him by two different US presidents.
  • Cool Old Guy: He has the firefighters of Station 24 (bar Terry and Eddie, Jr.) hanging on his every word as he regales them stories of his past adventures.
  • Doting Grandparent: Is immensely proud of his granddaughter, Lucy, and is not shy about letting the world know it. He doesn't even mind it if she calls him "Gampy" in front of everyone.
  • Like Father, Like Son: A career firefighter, a consummate ladies' man, and a world-class wiseass. It’s easy to see where Eddie learned it from.
  • Made of Iron: Oven mitts are for pussies, apparently!
  • The Storyteller: Loves to tell war stories of his own glory days.
  • Trickster Mentor: Gets Eddie and Terry to stop undermining each other by playing them against each other until they both stand up to him.
    Boykins

TO Wolfgang "Wolf" Boykins

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dcd8a5f5_7c99_4506_9220_c9d33e270393.jpeg
Played by: Paul Soter

Tacoma Fire Department's designated Training Officer

  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: A vehicle accident leaves him with a fence post through his chest. He survives.
  • Jerkass: Arrogant, condescending asshole.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Wolf is a terrible firefighter with a cowardly streak a mile wide. He overcompensates by forcing people to perform unrealistic skills tests with impossible time limits, while bragging his ass off about how great he is.
  • Miles Gloriosus: Boykins will tell you, at length, how awesome he is for a vast portfolio of heroic deeds. Every single one of them is bullshit.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: When someone exploits his fear of heights.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: While Eddie Penisi has made some enemies, Wolf is the only one he actually hates.

Tacoma P.D.

    Polonsky

Captain Jerry Polonsky

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/04ca70ac_b8e1_465b_8f72_29bba8880181.jpeg
Captain of the nearby police station.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When the prank feud between the PD and the FD culminates in Terry getting tazed during a traffic stop, he marches his cops to the firehouse and forces them to apologize.
  • Hidden Depths: Surprisingly passionate drummer.
  • Hypocrite: Wants to kill Penisi for screwing Mrs. Polonsky, despite the fact that he habitually cheats on her.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: To Tacoma FD Station 24 in general and Terry in particular, considering the similar roles and names.
    Salazar

Lieutenant Liz Salazar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b4898df6_986e_483a_84f2_ae24fd14d19d.jpeg

  • Gratuitous Spanish: Especially when she's pissed off.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Starts hating Lucy based on thinking she's into Andy. Lucy isn't, and gives no indication that she would be. Salazar is just a crazy bitch.
  • Psycho Ex-Girlfriend: She and Andy used to date and she goes out of her way to make his life miserable because of lingering bitterness over their breakup. Andy doesn't mind, and even antagonizes her to continue this behavior, because he finds the abuse to be arousing.
    Shuck

Sergeant Brad Shuck

  • Cain and Abel: Her and Eddie prank each other so intensely that it borders on this trope.
