    Sleepover Characters

Storybro

The name "Storybro" is the nickname that readers gave the anon writing the story. Since the story is about him, he is known in-story as Storybro (SB for short) as well, to preserve the writer's anonymity.

He describes his 15-year-old self as wiry, blond-haired and blue-eyed, and of average height for the age. As a teenager, he comes across as a normal, anime-loving, video game-playing boy. As is normal for the age, he's emotionally immature and most of his prompts on sex and relationships come from a combination of anime, movies and pornography. Often his emotions and lust cloud his judgement, causing him to make a string of selfish and uncaring choices that hurt his friends.

  • Jerkass — In a Cast Full of Crazy - that is, a cast full of selfish, violent, manipulative, oversexed teenagers - YMMV as to where Storybro himself ranks for terrible behavior. Certainly, though, he's in the upper ranks rather than the lower.
  • Manipulative Bastard — Half of Storybro's thoughts with the girls consist of scheming around their emotions, setting up ploys and countering what he thinks are ploys on their part. Sometimes, his instincts are correct; often, he just makes bad situations worse.
  • Mistaken for Gay — From Sleepover into Road Trip, most of the girls have their parents convinced that he's gay. Hence how he's able to get so much alone time with the girls.
  • Oblivious to Love — Thinking of him and Raven as friends first, he really can't tell at the start of Sleepover how much she's started to love him.
  • Would Hit a GirlUsually, the girls hit first.

Raven

Raven is Storybro's close childhood friend and had known him the longest by the events of the story. She is described as a tomboyish girl with a slim, athletic build and short black hair, able to pass off as a boy if one didn't look too hard. Though she is usually fun and energetic, she spends most of the story being moody and upset with Storybro's actions. Her name comes from her hair color, jet-black or "raven" colored.
  • A-Cup Angst — She's started to pad her bra at the beginning of Sleepover, hoping to catch Storybro's eye. Even in Road Trip, this hasn't quite faded.
  • Broken BirdHer father's physical and verbal abuse left her with deep-set insecurities, plus fertility problems, another facet to her insecurity.
  • Childhood Friend Romance — She's Storybro's first friend when he moves to Los Angeles as a child, and the one to ultimately win his heart.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl — More self-destructive with it than Birthday's or Blondie's aggresive jealousy.
  • Deadpan Snarker — She has some of the most endearing sarcasm of all the girls.
  • The Modest Orgasm — Having grown up with many siblings.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin — Hence the name.
  • Stepford Smiler — Storybro knows well the fake smile she puts on when things have gone wrong for her.
  • TomboyStorybro mistook her for a boy when they first met as kids. She's gotten only slightly girlier with adolescence.
  • What Beautiful Eyes! — The narration gushes endlessly about her beautiful green eyes. Storybro loves eyes generally, but Raven's are, quote, "my favorite pair of eyes".

Glasses

Glasses is a mischievous brunette with a silver tongue who's always got an ulterior motive. She generally remains Storybro's "ally" throughout the sleepover due to her quick thinking and ability to smooth things over between the other girls, though she isn't above stirring up a little trouble to screw with him. Her name comes from the fact that she wears glasses (surprisingly enough).
  • Blind Without 'Em — She has contacts, but hates wearing them.
  • Brainy Brunette — Inasmuch as cunning equals brains.
  • The Chessmaster — EVERYTHING to Glasses is a machination. She assembles high school gossip and relationship drama like a watchmaker, predicting actions on top of reactions and twisting them in exactly the right directions. Half the plot of Road Trip is a perpetually escalating Xanatos Speed Chess on her part, running up against Gambit Pileup interference by Storybro (intentional or not on his part). Not that this doesn't backfire on her a whole lot - it apparently cost her a boyfriend between Sleepover and Road Trip.
  • Depraved Bisexual — Is the most devious of all the girls, and the most willing to fool around with Storybro and several of the girls to achieve her ends.
  • Femme Fatale — A high-schooler version; deeply cunning and seductive, a natural manipulator and instigator of the teenage bullshit surrounding her.
  • Manipulative Bastard — In about as benevolent a way as possible - usually. Even Storybro has to admit that everything she schemes is - again, usually - in everyone's best interest.

Blondie

Blondie is the newest addition to Storybro's circle of friends. She is not as comfortable with everyone as the others are, but her natural friendliness and modesty means she is able to get along with everyone fairly well. She's very often described as "cute" and blushes intensely when embarassed. Her name comes from her hair color.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret — So much so that Storybro actively schemes with how to keep her from blabbing stuff.
  • Cute and Psycho — Equal parts adorable and violently jealous.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes — Storybro likes her, obviously, and even the other girls (most often Glasses) tend to treat her as their plaything.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes — For a certain defintion of innocent, at least.
  • Lethal Klutz — Due to sheer clumsiness, plus her violent streak, Blondie keeps managing to seriously injure anyone who gets close to her (or else cause a near-miss), Storybro most of all. This happens countless times in Sleepover and Road Trip, plus one more time in Sweet Dreams. The same thing happened with at least one of her ex-boyfriends.
  • Love-Obstructing Parents — Another reason for her boyfriend trouble. Storybro slips by, though, since Blondie convinced her parents that he's gay.
  • Luminescent Blush — She's very quick to blush, all over her body.
  • Sweet Baker — She's the resident cook of brownies and other assorted sweets.

Birthday

Birthday is the host of the sleepover. She is said to be the most "normal" of the group and is described as attractive but plain. Nevertheless, she makes up for that with a competitive streak and is the first to start up sexual tension between the friends. Her name comes from the fact that it is her birthday.

In Road Trip, her parents bar her from the trip at the start. Later on, she unexpectedly reappears at their destination in Florida, with a new pseudonym, Aubrey, and a newfound beauty and sex appeal.

  • Ambiguously BiWhile she declares that she's not interested in girls, Storybro nonetheless talks her into trying out Freckles. The relationship even manages to last for about a year past the end of the road trip.
  • Only Sane Woman — She's probably the most normal of the girls - normally angsty, hormonal, jealous, etc. By the time of Road Trip, she's become abnormally beautiful and sexy, but normally confident and settled with it.

Homely

Homely is a buxom girl with few brains and an unlikable personality. She is manipulative, bitchy, and competitive, and Storybro loathes most anything about her. Very few positive things are ever said about her. When she shows up, she's annoying, distracting and generally makes everything worse. Her name does not come from her appearance, which is admitted to be fairly attractive, but from her "homely", or ugly, personality.
>Implying anyone cares about homely

    Road Trip Characters

Gadget

Gadget is a new girl in their school, from South America (though her exact origin is never quite spelled out, Portuguese is implied to be her first language), named for her proficiency with electronics and other assorted gadgets. Quiet and withdrawn, she tends to wall herself off from the world, near-constantly listening to electronica on her earbuds, thick hooded jacket covering her cute face and long dark hair (with dyed red highlights). For those close to her, though, she reveals an adorably playful nature, hungry for affection and game for wherever the road trip takes her - along with an array of terrible secrets which she hastens to run away from.
  • Aimlessly Seeking Happiness — She seems to have no real direction except in fleeing from her troubled past (and present), losing herself in momentary pleasure-seeking with no eye for the future. Even in coming along for the road trip, she seemed to willfully forget having to eventually go home to her incestuous brother. See also: The Hedonist.
  • Badass Adorable — She's shown to carry a switchblade and seemingly know how to use it. With this, she follows Storybro into Fort Lauderdale late at night to look after him as he looks for Raven.
  • Beware the Nice Ones — Belying her cute exterior, she furiously lays into anyone who does wrong by Storybro.
  • Clothing Reflects Personality — She favors many layers, namely thick hooded jackets and phat rave pants whenever she's not fooling around with Storybro or the other girls. This reflects both her love of EDM and a need to hide herself due to a history of sexual abuse.
  • The Cutie — Normally, she's one of the most adorable and playful girls in the whole group, but it's implied that much of this comes from a sense of escapism from her own problems.
  • Dandere — Outwardly quiet and withdrawn, very affectionate with Storybro and some of the girls as she gets closer to them.
  • Dark and Troubled PastGrowing up in South America, she fell into carrying drugs for her cousin before corrupt police imprisoned and beat her. Rape is alluded to beyond that. Such is what led to her family relocating to Los Angeles to begin with. On top of all of this is the ongoing sexual abuse by her brother.
  • Hates Being Touched — Without her consent.
  • The Hedonist — She's said to be "escapism addicted", whether it be in music, video games, drugs, or in casual sex with Storybro - himself a "comforting distraction" for her, as Storybro comes to understand it.
  • Mixed Ancestry Is Attractive — Her ancestry is an unclear mixture from South America, and she's described as both very cute and sexy, with caramel-brown skin and entrancing hazel eyes, speckled with other colors.
  • Poster-Gallery Bedroom — Filled with schematics for various hobby gadgets she tinkers with.
  • Trauma Button — She breaks down into panic when dealing with police. This is linked to her Dark and Troubled Past.

Freckles

Freckles, a freckled green-eyed redhead, is one of two drivers on the trip. She is the resident man-hating feminist lesbian of the group, her hair cropped short and messy and her fashion punk-rockish. She spends much of the trip fighting with Storybro over any and all perceived slights against her and womankind in general (not that the other girls take this seriously). But over time, her defensive nature breaks down a bit and her cute, sensitive side makes itself known, her insecurities hashed out.
  • Butch LesbianSomewhat. Her lesbian style consists of short-cropped messy hair and mid-2000s punk/goth fashion, past which she's more feminine than she lets on.
  • Cannot Talk to Women — Or rather, women that she's attracted to. She becomes comically tongue-tied and shy at first sight of Aubrey.
  • Eating the Eye Candy — Storybro is amused to find her staring at the other girls just as much as he is.
  • Fiery Redhead — She's the most violent and quickest to offend of all the girls on the trip.
  • Freudian Excuse — Her contempt for men is blamed on her father and brother both abandoning her, plus her first boyfriend turning out to be gay.
  • Jerkass — Besides heaping scorn on Storybro, she's kind of a jerk to everyone, standout example being when she takes an iced tea meant for Gadget while Gadget is in the back of a cop car. Her excuse is literally, "What? I thought you were going to jail."
  • Jerkass Woobie — For the pitiful state she's brought to after the Sneakers episode, Storybro begins to see her like this, looking past her bitchiness and wanting to help with her romantic struggles.
  • Straw Feminist — Her "feminism" mainly consists of berating Storybro for all that she hates of the male sex at large. Neither he or any of the other girls take it seriously.
  • Tsundere — A Classic Tsundere, her bitter exterior softening over the length of the story to reveal her vulnerable and affectionate side.
